Bugger.
Poor performance from the defence. Not sure we really missed Lambert, (with the exception of the penalty), as we didn't provide anything for the forwards to feed on. Thought Guly did ok, Davis kept us in it in the first half. Jos was the worst I've seen him play.
Bring on the Skates.

I've always played in goal, so never scored a goal "in anger". After playing with the same team for about 10 years, we had a penalty, and being 7-0 up, I was invited to take it. After running the length of the pitch to take it, I smacked the kick as hard as I could, it hit the junction of post & bar. The other players where then party to the undignified sight of me sprinting back to the goal, as the ball remained in play.
So in answer to the OP's question, NO!

Whilst Maude's advice was clearly ridiculous, I'm pretty sure he didn't advise transfering petrol between containers, whilst stood in your kitchen next to a lit cooker.
I'm sorry, but there is only one thing suitable for this:

KD.
Every other position has more than capable deputies & if the replacement isn't up to it, there are 10 other players with with the ability to bail out any errors made. As we all know if a goalie messes up, it could easily result in a goal, unfortunately Bart isn't up to it.

Might be best to start training with a long walk with a few bursts of jogging thrown in. Plenty of time to improve it and no reason you can't get to a position where you can comfortably jog the whole thing by October. Don't worry about pace, just focus on improving the length of time you can keep jogging. And don't think about the distance yet, just very slow and steady improvement. You'll probably surprise yourself come October!
Thanks for the tip, that's pretty much what the only training programme said - so it must be right.

I've paid my 40 quid, just got to get some kit now, then I'll start doing some training. The only problem is the furthest I've ever run is a mile, that was 28 years ago at school & that took me nearly 8 minutes.
It could turn out to be more of a sponsored walk
, oh yeah, both my knees are shot from years of playing footy & my back's had it. Apart from that I'm looking forward to it.

Thats what CPR is designed to do - stop brain and tissue damage until they can be revived - but its not normally as effective as a proper heart beat and drawing breaths. The guys who did the CPR on Muamba must have been top notch. Normally if someone had been 'dead' for that long they would be unrevivable. One very lucky guy.
The main difference between Muambas collapse & the normal man in the street is the quality of CPR he received, not only was it done efficiently, but it would have included 100% oxygen therapy, being manually pumped in by bag & mask. This, crucially, was available immediately. The oxygen content of mouth-to-mouth is very low (can't remember exactly, but think it's about 1-2%). The 100% oxygen was being forced around his organs by very good cardiac massage. If you're going to have a MI the best place to do it is 20yds from a group of fully equiped medics.

A good professional job. Shame Sharpie didn't get that header when Chappers crossed it in, someone else getting a hatrick would've been nice.
Lamberts got a whack on the achilles just before half time, I guess it's not too serious if he's expected back next week.

We have one in Basingstoke I often think about dusting the Skates off again as I have never been so fit as I was back then.
It's like riding a bike, you don't forget how to skate. Like you I used to frequent the rink, often after watching the ice hockey. I took my kids to watch the hockey in Basingstoke for the first time about 3 years ago, and thought I'd have a crack at skating afterwards, I hadn't skated since the southampton days, I started a bit nervously, but after a couple of circuits it was just like the old days, although probably a bit slower.

What league we are in will be of no relevance to me, my season ticket renewal will solely depend on the price. It was £550 for me & my eldest last time out, next season my youngest will no longer be entitled to a free ticket, so I guess I'm looking at £700 at least
.

Why start your thread with "now"?
Well spotted, (I hadn't). I assume you are aware of the relevance of this, although I'm not sure the OP was.

This is the one & only time I've been able to claim I was ITK.

It was supposed to be built on the piece of wasteland next to Central Hall.
The guy proposing it originally wanted to build a small supermarket with offices & flats above. Construction drawings were well advanced & suddenly he pulled the plug owing all the consultants involved a lot of money. The land next door became available and he had plans for the rink drawn up. I'll be very surprised if it happens. The feeling is that he is not expecting to get the grant or planning approval and will be "forced" to build appartments on a much larger site than before, giving him a far better return financially.
Not one to say "I told you so"

2-0 away win, top of the league. I'll take that.

Was thinking about this today and discussed how lucky he was for it to have happened in this era. When I first started going to the Dell and for many years after, all we had was the amateurs of the St John Ambulance (no offence) with their wood and canvas stretchers. He wouldn't have stood a chance back then.
I'm pretty sure most of the medics at St Marys are St John Ambulance volunteers, supplemented by 2-4 professionals. What has changed is the training of the volunteers and the equipment available to them. It takes minimal training to use AE de-fibs & oxygen therapy, although I think when the medic trolley wheels past me at each home game they have a manual de-fib (as used in ambulances) on them.
-
Of course it should be. Some stupid mod thought they would exercise the only authority they have in thier lives because they are sad.
Fookk off
Is that really necessary?

BREAKING: Ambulance crew confirms that they got Muamba breathing again.
The important thing is how long it took to get him breathing, after 3-4 minutes the patient starts to get irrepairable brain damage.
-
Terrible news, hope he pulls through. If they've tried CPR, that's not a good sign, it has a very small chance of success, something like 2% if I recall my training correctly.

My thoughts: if you hit it, you're responsible.
Ordinarily I would agree, if a ball damaged my current neighbours property, then I'd have no hesitation paying-up, but this is a new-build, and we are potentially being put in a position, not of my making, where-by we are suddenly liable for a compensation event. It just seems wrong that the developers have the opportunity to prevent such an event yet have chosen not to. I don't see why I should foot a bill for something beyond my control & which I had warned about.
I guess life's not fair though.
-
Assuming you're talking about your children potentially causing the damage from playing with aforementioned Footballs/Rugby balls then here's the advice from CAB:
So, yes, you can be liable, despite all your previous efforts, but it is unlikely it would get that far.
Probably better to speak to the new owners once they move in and see what they say.
Thanks for that, didn't think about the CAB.

I would like a bit of advice from the wise ones on here.
My garden backs on to a couple of newly built, and as yet un-sold bungalows, on a site that was originally garages. The developer originally erected a tv aerial on one of the bungalows, central to our garden about 6 ft above the rear wall. It makes an ideal target for footballs/rugby balls flying out of our garden. I've pointed out it's vulnerability to flying objects & asked them to move the aerial to the other end of the bungalow, instead they lowered it by about 3ft, it still presents a pretty tasty target. The developer has told me it can't be moved & it will be staying where it is.
I'd like to know, should get accidentally damaged whether or not I would be legally responsible, obviously I don't think I should be, as I've done all I can to get it protected, both verbally & in writing, I've also asked that they make any prospective purchasers aware of the situation.
Cheers Chaps & Chapesses.

To think some of you who are involved in kids football have problems vociferous parents.
-
Terribly sad news, I can't even start to imagine what it's like to lose a child. Condolences to all involved.
I understand the sentiments behind the OP's question, and the answer is no. A tragedy could strike at any time, when Johnny or Jane cross the road to school, or go out and climb trees with their mates, I read today that a girl died after being hit with a rugby ball, such tragic events are a fact of life. If you start letting things like this worry you every time your kids are out of sight, you will soon end up in the mad-house.

Yes, (with the exception on the pen). The midfield didn't create anything for the forwards and the fullbacks didn't put many crosses in. This is stuff that RL revels in. It made no difference who was up top today, we wouldn't have won.
