  1. How do I change the DNS on Raspbmc??

Got Pi up and running on the tele and found the channels.

Used Unotelly before and found DNS settings on Raspbmc but can't see how to change them...

Normally watch via SportsnationHD add on and subscription so always keen for alternatives/back ups...

When you are in the Raspbmc settings and you can see the DNS settings the button above is not checked, check that and you can go down to the DNS setting and change it to the London settings and off you go.

PS The NBC stream if far better than Sportsnations.tv and that says something.

Have you got Genesis and Navi - X loaded to your Pi as they are top addons for live TV, box sets and films you want to watch

  2. Tried this yesterday and it worked a treat, so cheers for the tip. Was fantastic for the first half with a continual HD stream, but then it was buffering every 15 seconds for the 2nd half. Had to switch back to one of the dodgy streams after I missed the 2nd goal...

Must have been your end as I had it running on a Raspberry Pi with no issues at all. Did you try deleting all cookies and temp files from your pc. Have you checked your line speed to ensure it was running fast enough, we're you wireless or hard wired to your router? PS you can watch the whole game on their catch up feeds from straight after the game virtually.

  3. I followed Saints foreva's advice but could not get SmartDNS to work. I decided to go with SmartVPN which was very simple to install and then choose a USA VPN server to run from. XMBC is now called Kodi but was also very simple to install. Anyone following this route will find the following link in setting up NBC Sports Extra a big help https://seo-michael.co.uk/how-to-install-nbc-sports-extra-live-for-xbmc/ I was able to watch the Saints Arsenal game in perfect HD. You will also be able to replay almost any Premier game. I wish I had found this route sooner rather than suffer the periodic buffering on WIZIWIG. For about £6 a month this represent good value to me. Thank you Saints foreva

Hurricane trust me smartdns does work at 3.28 per month I had it going all day yesterday on the nbc channel. Persevere if you need help just ask a saving of 3.00 is going begging. If you can get it working they will allow you to cancel your other subscription.

  4. Any ideas on setting up SmartDNS? Pretty please, of course

Sign up with Unotelly.com and they give you the tutorial, it is that easy, for £3.28 per month getting a free HD stream that has no buffering is worth every penny. you can try for free on as many email addresses that you have but in the end you will have to pay. Unotelly is really easy to install and use.

Download XBMC or Kodi, then search youtube how to set up NBC Sport Network Extra, the games only start at the kick off but do have in their playback section replays of the games played in the last month. This will also give access to American Football if you are into that

  5. Those of you who know how to setup a SmartDNS, download XBMC and the NBC Sports Extra add-on and you'll be able to watch all our games in HD for free.

I've been using it for months after being found out on Premier League Pass. It's fantastic.

Thanks for the info have managed to get it up and working on the Raspberry pi on Raspbmc, watching the replay of the Chelsea game as I type. Signed up for Unotelly again placed the london DNS setting into the Raspbmc setting and off we went started working straight away.

Do you need a login to access via xbmc?

  7. Using chromcast? Not sure but report back if it does :-)

I just plug my laptop into my tele via HDMI cable atm.

That is getting annoying so I'm looking into a micro PC to sit under my tv so I can run xbmc/kodi. The little android box I have currently is a bit under powered and not really cutting it.

Try a Raspberry Pi for about £35.00 when XBMC is working it is great and it has the added advantage of you can also download sports devil which will have lots of other streams available. If you are into your films Navi -X is a great addon as well.

  8. merry crimbo scummer kant's

oh and you need not fret awfools after loaning a top class striker from a much bigger club!:scared:

The news is true Messi is transferring from Barcelona, not to Chelsea or Manchester, but to the biggest and bestest club in the world to help their charge back to the premier league. Pity it will take another CVA to pay for him.

  9. all sorted. Cancelled Virgin and gone to Sky.

Got all the channels, incl movies and sports, telephone and broadband for £49.40/month - saving £20/month for a lot more TV.

The BB is not as good, but as Patrick Bateman says, who needs 100+meg for home usage.

If you negotiate well in a few months time you will be able to get the fiber at 40 meg for £10 a month for a year.

  10. Thanks Tractor and everyone else who threw in help/suggestions. I'm now running a Raspberry Pi on SportsNation HD and I'm very happy with it. My son has learnt quite a bit about real computing and the sort of thing a real programmer might do. Here's a link to SNHD if you need one...

    http://sportsnationhd.tv/

I go to all home games so I just get the one day or one week subscription when aways are on. It saves a lot of hassle searching for unrelaible free streams with dodgy popups. EG I watched Burnley/Saints for £2.63. Shame about the result though.

Here are the notes I took as I was building the RPi. Its not a crystal clear step-by-step guide but it might help someone.

    On pc install extraputty

    http://www.extraputty.com/download.php

    on pc install Vnc viewer

    http://www.realvnc.com/download/viewer/

Set router to assign fixed, easy to remember ip address to RP eg 192.168.1.200

Plug NOOB micro sd card into RP board.

    Put feet on case

    Put RP in case

On RP, plugin mouse, keyboard, hdmi TV, wifi adapter

    Plugin power supply

    Select RaspianBMC option

Wait a few minutes for install to complete

    Goto programs raspberry pi settings

    Change network mode to wireless

Scan networks and select your home wireless network

Enter wifi key and click OK

RP will reboot a few times and install updates – takes approx. 10 minutes

Run putty on RP ip address

Select locale en GB utf-8 utf-8

To run VNC (its very slow)

Unplug hdmi connector otherwise its very very slow

Or in system settings, set video resolution to 720x480p

Run putty on RP ip address

    Reboot

Run putty on RP ip address

    Service vnc start

Start vnc viewer on RP ip address:5900

I had limited success with vnc viewer but I’m sure I could have got it working if I had persisted.

    wget http://sportsnationhd.tv/plugin.video.sportsnationhdtv1.4b.zip

On RPi, go to video/addons/install from zipfile/home folder

    Improve wireless connection eg..

On wireless router set ‘n’ only

On wireless router, kick everybody off except the Rpi

Move RPi so it has best line of sight view of the wireless router

To find mac address of WiPi, use putty to ssh into the RPi (user pi, password raspberry) and type ifconfig or iwconfig. You might need to add the interface name of the wipi eg wlan0

My internet connection is 6mbits/sec which sometimes struggles on an HD feed but is usually watchable

On your Pi have you tried changing the clocking in setting to super that will help it will run the overclocking easily. It is worth investigating the top 10 hints for the raspberry pi and without doubt through programs load Navi X it is superb for films.
