The virgin guy made me take the router out of the system as he said they only deal with virgin equipment, so I had the broadband connected directly to the modem and the modem directly to the computer and it still did not work.

I am not sure what a static IP is?

I have lost our internet connection. Virgin have checked the modem and that is working fine and the correctly lit LEDS are confirming that this is the case, I have tried resetting it a few times by turning it on/off. When I go into control panel > Network Connections the IP address is incorrect (all zero’s or wrong sequence of numbers). When I click on repair it comes up with “Cannot repair IP address please contact your Local Area Network provider.” I have also tried disabling/enabling the network connections icon but to no avail.

Also a Netgear router connected between the modem and computer recognises that there is a wireless signal on an external device but when the requested password is entered it comes up with “cannot connect to network at this time.” The password is correct as the router has been reset to factory settings. Not sure what else I can do so if anyone can provide any help or advice please let me know.

Have a lot of respect for MS counted up roughly how many league and cup games I have been to over the years and was in the region of over 2000 so he must have done loads more, a really nice guy as well.
