  1. Why are England only selecting 4 front line bowlers?

Why select the inform Shah down at 6 ?

Why can't England batsmen score runs in power players? 13 runs only in power play!!!!!!

  2. Why not sell the players currently not playing first team football or out on loan. Give back some of the rubbish loans like Smith, Pekhart etc and keep the promising youngsters playing well in the 1st team until at least the end of the season when they will probably be worth a lot more.

Selling the likes of Surman, Morgan and Lallana for peanuts in January will mean relegation.

  3. Why did the club offer a new contract to Dyer then immediatley loan him out?

IMO I rate Dyer who has the potential to be a decent player. He's inconsistant like a lot of young players but has pace which is vital in the game today. I would rather have him in Saints squad than Smith, Pullis, Pekhart, Wotton etc.

  4. Good showing by Hatton but very disappointed with Malignaggi. Outside of the first round he didn't show very much at all and his constant holding was frustrating. He seemed a shadow of the fighter who fought Cotto.

The change of trainer seems to have been good for Hatton. I'm a bit worried that he's talking of moving up to welterweight again and I'm not sure it's a good move for him to fight De La Hoya (if DLH beats Manny). Personally I'd like to see Hatton have a shot at Timothy Bradley who looked good against Witter.

Agree with you there. Hatton said he's the best at his Light Welter so why move up again when he' struggled there.

Tim Bradley looked good against a below par Witter but i'm not sure he's a bigger enough name for Hatton at this stage of his career.

  5. India with a young talented team average age 24 look the best side in the world right now.

I thought England played better and wth Shah and Flintoff in had a chance.

The Indian bowlers gave a lesson on how to bowl under pressure especially in the power play overs.

Another slow start by England openers meant it was always going to be difficult.

Maybe KP and Freddie should have opened?

At least Freddie hit the bggest six hitting the top of the roof stand.

  6. Humble pie for me and happy to be proved wrong by Hatton who looked back much better than his last fight.

I though Malignaggi would have put up a better fight like he did against Cotto but he seems to only use one hand which is probably due to fragile hands.

  7. He's had more chances than most. James has never had a run in his natural position of central midfield.

Gillett is NOT a kid either. He's been around a long time. He looked improved earlier in the season and I was suprised, but since the blackpool home game when he was woeful, he's gone downhill.

James played in midfield in defeat to Rotherham. He was, like the team poor.

I hope he proves me wrong but everytime i've seen him this season he's been a liability where ever he's been on the pitch.

A decent young player can adapt to different positions like Cork who has impressed in defence and as holding midfielder.

  8. Team for tomorrow is looking really dodgy.

No Lancashire, no Pearce, no thomson, still no thomas or holmes. Svensson might be ill too. Who for centre back? Cork? Would mean James at right back. Wotton and Perry? Very slow. Maybe the experience is what's needed though. I'd play like this.

    Davis

    Cork Wotton Perry Mills

    Surman James Schniederlin Skacel

    Lallana

    McGoldrick

Just out of options up front. I'd love to play 2, but were barely have 1. Right wing is very poor too. Surman did do very well there in the playoff season though. We played some of our best football with him cutting in from the right and Skacel offering an outlet on the left wing. They can also protect the young full backs better than other options. James and Schneiderlin is a fairly solid central 2. James is a far better midfielder and won't let anyone down there. He'll allow Schneiderlin to get on the ball more too.

I wouldn't have James anywhere near the first team after watching him play both right back and in midfield this season.

    Davis

Cork, Perry, Wotton(no one else available) Skacel

    Lallana, Schneiderlin, Gillett, Surman

    McGoldrick, BWP

  9. i think we got about £4 mill for it. Don't forget house prices weren't quite as stong even in 2001 (i.e i bet it'd been worth £8 mil in Jan last year!). I think that money was pumped straight into the building of the SMS.

I'm sure someone will have a link to firm those figures up though.

Same applied to Hampshire CCc i think.

I heard the value of the Dell (5M i think?) was not higher due to it being near a football ground :-(

  10. Does anyone else like me not really think of or care about the likes of Walcott and Bale as ex Saints players given the short time they played for the 1st team before leaving.

I usually take an interest in ex Saints players after they leave like Shearer, Flowers, Beattie etc who at least stayed here a little while but don't really consider the likes of Walcott, Bale, Best, Blackstock, Crannie etc the same.

  11. Goals are all important, but the game is about more than just that. The guy is just 20 and already he runs rings around oponents. Ok so he scuffs the odd shot but we're only about 15 games into his career and `fan's are already writing him off and don't seem to care if he stays or goes. If you're old enough to remember you will know that a certain MLT was bloody eratic in his younger days and far from the `unbelievable' 30 goals a season guy we all know. Jesus some of you are clueless when it comes to the delopment of young players.

Totally agree. Some common sense for a change on here. I can't understand anyone not rating probably our best outfield player this season. I also remember a young Le Tiss struggling to hold down a regular 1st team place under Nicholl and not developing into a outstanding player until a few years later.

For those who are happy to have him sold for a decent fee. Just one question for you? will Lowe get in quality replacements? or some more young Millwall/Sheff Utd reserves?

  12. I would sacrifice Surman and Lallana to be financially more secure, recall a striker and play 4-4-2.

Skacel-Morgan-James-Thomson is a better midfield IMO, with Saga and DMG up front.

If we persist with 4-2-3-1 without Lallana then we're screwed as everyone else has been toss in the hole.

That midfield looks very poor to me. James has not impressed in any position. He played midfield poorly at Rotherham. Thomson has some potential but is nowhere near ready to play regular first team football.

If Surman and Lallana go then we're doomed to relegation.
