ABK was a classic 'good buy' that just didn't work out. I had high hopes, and initially he looked the business. injury and attitude put pay to that. Very different to panic buys like Carrilo.
However nobody but nobody is paying the wages he is on. There are plenty of decent CBs available, who are more robust and switched on.
Saints bought potential, but that has disappeared, as has his value.
They need to bite the bullet, sell him or loan him out. The whole soap opera around him is a distraction.
As someone who was in the 2022 German World Cup squad you’d hope that with another one next year he’d want to be in the shop window again making an impression for the outside (and at the moment extremely unlikely) prospect of a recall. Where better than the Bundesliga for that ?
Have to wonder if that ambition outweighs the relatively easy life sitting on his arse not playing for another year with us, but in a higher £ for the next 12 months.

Perhaps living up to his name with that often quoted line.

I agree. Drop the price and sell him. We have far too many centre backs.
Just seen the contracts thread, ends 2026. Get rid with a decent sell on % in case he starts living up to the potential we hoped he had.

How long has he left of his contract ? At this rate he’ll slink away at the end of it and we’ll get nothing for him.

I thought Gassama was someone we should have bene after. He looked Sheff Wed's best player in the games I watched. I asked this earlier, on this thread I think, is Rangers a bigger draw than us right now? Can they match our wages? I wondered if we were both in for him and he chose them.
I got the impression that he was one we’d go for had Rohl come in.
I doubt we were still after him as he doesn’t seem to fit the priorities set out by Solak. Probably on the ‘after we’ve shipped out some of the other useless cunts’ list of possibles.

I know Gavin has had his ‘moments’ but seriously, really? It was a basic save, conceding that would have been a massive fuck up.
Something he had a track record of that season, almost a trademark.

Respect your opinion, but I disagree that he doesn’t save that James shot.
Gloucester Saint has already mentioned Ipswich away.
Exhibit two: Watford away.

Why have they brought “Wrighty” out of retirement?

Agyemang comes on late, so doesn't get many minutes. Perhaps it's getting up to speed, but a few first touches aren't great. But she doesn't miss a beat, and when it's under her power you get finishes like that.
Walsh off. Hemp tired, but with the threat wide from both her and Kelly, hopefully a winner is on the way.
From the little I’ve seen surprised Kelly didn’t start.

Quiet on this thread tonight. Assuming everyone's down the pub.
0-0 after 27 minutes. England probably about the better side on balance so far.
We all know how being the better side but it’s pegged at 0-0 ends up.
Hope they do it, but my years of Saints paranoia doesn’t bode well at the moment.

Charge Ipswich fans £55, and £3 for using the toilet, £2 tourist tax, plus £1 for being a shit team.
And another £10 for having a ginger gimp chairman or celebrity fan, whatever he is.

Don’t clubs have to charge away fans the same as home fans in equivalent parts of a stand?
This was my recollection as well.
Amazed tgat Ipswich will charge their fans £43 for a seat in the corner.
Do the clubs get any leeway to charge on a reciprocal basis? Or limit numbers depending on tickets made available in the opposite fixture ?

We also have other pre-season friendlies, all at home, all £5 admission. Come check out the new developments and state of the art 3G pitch (which is available to hire)
Tuesday 22 - Bashley - 7:45pm
Tuesday 29 - Aldershot Town - 7:45pm
Saturday 2 - Winchester City - 3pm
So if Sholing find a great potential talent that Saints have missed, who’ll get the nod first, Saints or Chelsea ?

Inspired by John B to go further into the memory, and perhaps a bit obscure as a double name:

That’s a good delve into the memory bank. Well done, Sir.

Looks a lot of money for Championship Saints for an 18 year old from that league, but he's seen as a genuine hot prospect. Athletic 6ft 2ins target man striker, already capped by Senegal and originally from Mane's old side.
Isn’t that the role Downs has signed for ?
Can’t see us spending £18m on a younger player to send him to Goztepe

Wasn’t it a reference to Gao ?
Then someone - possibly MLG *- took the whole thread off on a tangent.
*Was going to say as only he can, but as proven on this thread others are also capable of that achievement.
