Apart from MLT most of football is like that, hadn't you worked it out ?
Fully agree with you.

1st:...was ever leaving his Cheltenham pile.
2nd mistake: daring to tread on our hallowed ground (or even anywhere in Hampshire).
3rd mistake: OUTSTAYING HIS WELCOME (by approx. 10 years)!

I don't think you'll find many on here who do think NP's departure was purely down to money .
We are long on opinions and short on facts when it comes to Boardroom matters but from what we do know Rupert Lowe certainly first contacted Jan Poortvliet years ago - some say George Burley's appointment in 2005 was forced on RL when he really wanted JP at that time . It seems quite clear to me that RL never had the slightest intention of retaining Nigel Pearson's services as manager this season as Poortvliet was always his intended appointment . This of course rode roughshod over the expressed opinion of the vast majority of Saints fans or indeed any decent judge of British football . The sheer folly of this Double Dutch total football
experiment becomes ever more apparent with every passing match - I regard this as self evident .
IMO the alleged wages issue was a smokescreen intended to justify the current management arrangements . I do not accept then or now that Nigel Pearson did not want the job . I do not accept that a reasonable wage package could not have been negotiated had Lowe offered one . I do consider it unlikely that Nigel Pearson would have tolerated the level of interference with the squad that JP has had to endure so maybe NP's better off out of it . Jan Poortvleit on the other hand will be back in Holland before very long and Southampton Football Club need a footballing miracle to avoid both relegation and administration in 2009 .
Enlightened. Thanks. C.

Such a pessimistic feel to the posts on this thread.
I say:
1: 3pts
2: 3
3: 1
4: 1
5: 1
= 9 pts - climbing the table.
...ever the optimist
Of course things could be even better.
COYR!!!

Surely someone has access to a bonfire display. Contact the media/post photo's on the web of a realistic effigy getting torched and loads of Saint's fans cheering. Seems to stir things up elsewhere in the world...(but we may not get away with it on the street). Bonfire night on Wednesday week; better start advertising...

Watch Emmerdale?
Depending on how close you live, you could watch Emmerdale and still join us dissenters for the start...

Could it be that the dismissal/mutual parting of NP was purely down to money. If he had really wanted the job, he would have accepted the reduced salary of 2 men...IMHO (conjecture, no source!)

Have thought about coming up for this one. Have texted my mate to see if he's up for it.
Have some brilliant recollections of Coventry games at the Dell in the 80's. Afraid I might be disappointed however having watched the game on Sky the other week.
Anyway if my mate in Hants. is up for it, so am I.
Will let you know, if you're bothered...

Matey on SSN summed up what we are all feeling - BWP is not Stern John.
Okay times are hard but I can forsee them getting a lot harder at this rate - perhaps a (cheaper?) replacement holding player if that is the way JP wants things...
Come on SLH/board. Pull your fingers/wallets out!

I agree.
Me too - COYR!!!

"I do think that Jan has many qualities. (Defensive tactics however not being one of them)." Wholly agree.
Possibly due to a lack of decent defenders...?
Reasons as posted by others previously.
