  1. NC made a great deal! The difference between what we paid for DeRidder and receive for Oxo is in no way reflective of the quality lost versus quality gained. Millions in the bank and DeRidder will be setting this season on fire. Oxo was alaways going to leave, this is a brilliant deal

  2. It was a real joy watching the game in an English Pub in Vegas with about half a dozen other Saints Fans, most of them on holidays. I have not often seen that many of us out here. Can't think of a better start to the season. COYR

  3. I think the issues with players is Adkins likes team players - many of the likes we have been linked with do not appear as team players, more individuals. His methods seem to work - he's got the best out of the squad and they all look to be loving it. It is a developing squad and to be honest some players might be intimidated by the togtherness of the existing squad.

I think any player coming in has to be a bit special - he must have the thumbs up from Adkins (without overloading us with his old boys) and fit in with the squad. Most of all they have got to want to play for Southampton...and believe it or not I think that is where the problem lies. Many people over the years were attracted by lucrative contracts and easy money and no will to win due to expectations. It's different now - sensible money and an air of expectation...it's all pressure!!

Good summing up of the situation. Totally agree!

  4. The Liebherr's spent £13m to purchase SFC. A further £13m to make up the losses after the first year in charge. It must be assumed the loss for last year was just as much if not more.

Excuse me if I'm not jumping up and down like a spolit brat demanding them spend another £15m on transfers and wages during the Summer.

    Totally agree with this

  5. The higher the league, the more it is all about the money. To me that means that the financially strong teams, and those enjoying the benefits of a nice big parachute payment coming down from the Prem, have the best chances. If we can spend enough to expand the team with some quality players, and manage to finish in the top ten or so while spending carefully, than I would consider it a successful season. The following season we can than build on what we have and go for promotion.

  6. Only Swansea/Reading and Peterborough/Huddersfield missing and the small matter of 3 months worth of transfers ins/outs.

  7. Think i'm right in saying Virgin are the only ones with direct flights to Vegas? (From Gatwick)

If they go on that flight they'll get into Vegas at 14:10 local time.

No, we now have a daily non-stop from heathrow British Air if I'm not mistaken
