  1. Is anyone really surprised? There'll always be trouble somewhere when a club like United comes to town.

There's always trouble up and down the country, week in, week out, I don't know why it comes as such a surprise.

  2. My sister once went out with a saints youth player (Paul Harper) and Harps met Sir Alex in the tunnel at the Dell. He asked SAF who he would buy if he had his choice of any player in the league (this was 1991/92) and he said it would be MLT, but that it was well known in the game that his wife wouldn't let him leave Southampton. Later that year (I think) he signed Cantona from Leeds, who I thought was quite similar to MLT. I often wonder how he would have turned out if he'd gone to Man U - and how England would have done in Euro 96 with an integrated Le Tiss - (though well aware that we would have been in League Two or something -oh).

there's a video of Berbatov on YouTube saying that MLT was his hero growing up by the way - a great watch but I've looked and can't find it now. It might explain his game, 80 minutes of seemingly not much, a few flicks, then a hat trick

About 7 minutes in - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/football_focus/8409567.stm - Berbatov mentions watching MLT and Shearer and wanting to score those sort of goals. This the same one?

  3. I worry about Adkins, what's he on? Does he really believe all the crap he spills out at interviews. So, if we get beat 7-0 Nige who'ya gonna blame? How will you rationalise that. FFS we can't even beat Tranmere when it really matters.

This is Manchester United were talking about Nige not just another bunch of losers from the north like Blackpool RESERVES. They think football like you think bull****. They'll sit back and let us play for about 15 minutes just so's the home fans can get excited, then once they've assessed the game and lost patience they'll stroll up our end, knock a couple in for fun then bugger off down the tunnel for tea and biccies before taking the **** in the second half by playing keep ball whilst our great heroes huff-and-puff themselves into exhaustion, meanwhile popping in the odd goal to keep themselves amused and stop Ferguson doing his usual apoplectic fit routine.

And a bit of advice, don't waste your transfer kitty on a crate of Mouton Rothschild for the grumpy old bugger in the hope that he might say something nice about you and the boys to the press like "They definitely had the best jerseys" or some such patronising rubbish.

This one we are going to lose mate and it's up to them how much they wish to embarrass us and don't forget these bastards kicked us out of the Prem so I'm not expecting any favours.

    Mental.

  5. Have i mentioned my knee injury recently...................?

Yeah i went on crutches mate, month or so after ACL surgery, i sat about half way up the itchen but end of row (ideal so then crutches dont get in the way and i could straighten my leg etc....)

    Sure you will be fine.

As for the ankle, if it still hurts in a month or so go back and ask for an MRI. Mate of mine has done ligaments in both ankles and eventually had to have one of them operated on. They still give him grief now but he plays Saturday and Sunday and trains twice a week (albeit the Thursday training is only an hour of 5 yard passing....) ;) @The9

I just remembered you kept going on about it a while back, mum said she would talk to you about it at your work, but you've answered everything here anyway.

Fair play, I've had a bit of practice getting up steps now so I'm not worried about that, only my seat is half way along in the middle of the block, might get a bit awkward! Good to know it can be done on crutches though, cheers.

Swelling seems to gone down a bit which is good, hopefully it's not as bad as your mate's, obviously it's only one of my ankles but I don't want operations! There's hope for me in the fact he still plays twice a week, nice one.

  6. Instead of starting a new thread I thought i'd include my question here as it is a medical question.

Two weeks ago I had a tooth extraction which required stitches. I was informed that the said stitches were of the disolving kind. However they haven't dissolved yet. How long do they usually take to dissolve as i'm starting to think they may have put normal stitches in?

Just had a look on google and it said around 7-10 days. Think you should go and see your dentist/doctor.

    Anyway,

it's my last day on Co-Codamol and I haven't taken any yet today, and it's agony, I don't know what I'll do without them. Would paracetamol or ibuprofen do anything to help?

  7. Blimey rallyboy, do feel sorry for you doing both. Can see what you mean about playing football, saw a specialist today who worked at Leyton Orient once, he strapped it up and told me to get cold on it, also said I will need to see a physio, and from what some of you lot have said it doesn't sound a bad idea... I know it's gonna be different when I next play football but there's no way I'm rushing back into it, and when I do finally play again this ankle will be strapped up massively. On crutches now for 5 weeks :/

Thanks for all the advice and stories, in a way it's nice to know I'm not the only one suffering!!

  8. I'm wondering whether I might be put in a cast, since the swelling hasn't gone down at all, my whole foot is a different colour to the other, and I can't hardly move it... Will have to see on Tuesday.

The thought of not playing football in so long is truly depressing.

Bet you were absolutely knackered, sod that, I am out of breath hopping up the stairs. I'm thinking going from Bedford Place to the ground on Saturday will be a mission, then the steps up to DD will take about half an hour but I'll manage. It's going to be interesting being right next to their fans on one leg, dread to think what will happen if we score!

Hamster, out of interest, you ever had this injury?

  9. Trouble is that, asking folks on a forum or looking it up on the internet you will be guilty of confirmation bias. This is finding the answer you want and going by that. Get a physio to take a look at it and they will be able to grade it based on severity and then go from there. Hope it heals up soon...

As I said I'm going back for an assessment on Tuesday so will see what they have to say. Seeing a physio isn't a bad shout to be honest, should I be doing this sooner rather than later?
