Those comments made me laugh too. What precisely made this a "big game with a big crowd"? Cotterill seems to be as much of an idiot as Grant was.
It's called PR.
Skilled PR-men like David Cameron could probably make points like these sound quite realistic but football managers like Cotterill and Grant don't stand a hope in hell, and make themselves look complete tools.
-
Just seen Cotterill on South Today, complaining about the ref; (have to say he has a point!) but he said BIG game that, needed a top ref in front of a BIG crowd (17,818!!!!) - you could always have Andy Durso Steve, welcome to the real world!! PS is there nothing they dont moan about or feel hard done by, and the BBC pander to the poor old Pompee line?
The ref was poor,
when he made Pompey retake the penalty they just missed that was one of his worst decisions
-
The one thing I've never fully understood is why continue to pay players obscene wages?
Obviously Nugent and Utaka are two players they can't get rid of but why continue to loan players on ridiculous wages? If Chainrai is funding them through this season why spend so much money doing it?
The only plausible reason is to get back to the PL and pocket all the TV money/parachute payments, but why spend so much money doing it?
-
I thought it was typical Skate luck but it sounds like the ref redeemed himself at the end. Nice ban picked up for Lawrence too.
1 match ban I assume?
-
Did anyone else hear more of this?
I'm pretty sure they said you can listen to it again on solent but can't find anything on there
-
Beautiful. Talk about poetic justice!
Especially as Paddy Kenny actually saved the Pompey penalty, the ref harshly ordered it to be retaken and they scored from it.
Warnock went berserk at that point
-
anyone listened to Chainrai's radio interview today?
I missed it although one quote that came out was something like "I am not Pompey's ideal owner, I am just the bloke running the club at the moment"
-
End of the day this ban will only affect some of the elderly and few others who don't own a computer. Apart from a few hardcore fans of retirement age, is there really anyone who is going to be THAT bothered by it?
The Echo needs Saints more than Saints needs the Echo and as far as Cortese is concerned, the Echo are far too small-time to worry about and until they get their act together in whichever way they need to they'll be sidelined
-
Hu Jintao?
Either him or Wen Jiabao

If only Burley had played Rasiak instead of Leon Best in that play-off semi final

I'm secretary of Winchester Youth FC and can confirm I received the letter.
it was not to be a feeder club but to recommend them players. As we have a steady stream of players going to Reading, Saints and Pompey ( and back again!) it was to advise that they have recommenced their youth set up.
or Chainrai's wallet could do with a bit of filling up and they're trying to find youngsters good enough to play in the Pompey first team after the January transfer window
-
For those who haven't seen it, the patch has been released.
According to the forums it is a big improvement.
Silly question,
how do you download it for the PS3?
-
The ban has been lifted for everyone apart from the Echo (just after Markus' funeral interestingly enough)
It looks like there is some spat between Cortese and Murray (or with the Echo as a whole) that has contributed to them not having the ban lifted.
Complete non-issue for me personally, and don't think it's that a big deal regardless.

Him and Bellamy up front together.
Nice.

I believe if Alonso finishes 2nd or higher in Abu Dhabi he's champion.
Webber wins if he wins in Abu Dhabi and Alonso is 3rd or lower.
Vettel needs Webber and Alonso to retire and finish higher than 2nd
Hamilton needs Vettel, Webber and Alonso to retire and win in Abu Dhabi

that stadium design doesn't get any less mad with time.
Apart from the compulsory purchase of £100M of harbour front property and £30M of naval dockyard, the re-siting of HMS Warrior, the Gosport Ferry pontoon, reclaiming a square mile of the sea, and an upgrade to the rail station and the building of an entirely new road system - the idea was great.
Approx total cost - £750M?
That's what makes it so funny, other clubs have dreams of a promotion or cup run, but not down the road - it's all Maradona, Eto, arabs with billions, the world cup coming to Portsmouth, the harbourfront superdome and the club being solvent and mid-table by Christmas - it's all pure fantasy.
If Peter Storrie was still doing their accounts I suspect it would be merely "push the boat out just a little"

Fishy ****ing ****s.
2-0
**** off.
That's the first time I've supported Derby in a long time. Hopefully the bubble has burst and QPR will pile on the misery on Tuesday

Provisional Grid for Brazlian Grand Prix
1. Hulkenburg (Williams)
2. Vettel
3. Webber
4. Hamilton
5. Alonso
6. Barrichello
7. Schumacher
8. Massa
9. Petrov
10. Kubica
11. Button
How the hell is Hulkenburg on pole??? Never saw that coming. Fair play to him and Williams. Completly from Left field that. Looks like we have potentially a great race on tomorrow!
Timed it to perfection, and didn't make a mistake on a drying track. Fair play to him.
I'll be first with the 'incredible hulk' anecdote

isn't it 46?
because Massachusetts, Tennessee and a couple of other 'states' are technically commonwealths?

Damn
I was 4 days out in the office sweepstake

Some local judge has said Massa could be arrested if he lets Alonso through.
I can really see that happening
The championship all depends on whether Alonso's engines last.
