  1. There are actually very few football books that are actually worth reading. Most autobiographies are rubbish. A few good ones (in my opinion) are:

    Fever Pitch - Nick Hornby

Provided you don't kiss me: 20 years with Brian Clough - Duncan Hamilton

My father and other working class football heroes - Gary Imlach

Left Foot Forward - Garry Nelson

    Engineering Archie - Simon Inglis

Out of His Skin: The John Barnes Phenomenon - Dave Hill

  2. There is no way the judge will see the club liquidated. He will give them it for 3 mil or less no doubt.

I happen to agree tbh. My honest opinion is the club will be league two next year on minus ten or something with the PST trying to run the club with little money. It's gonna keep going this thread...

  3. I think that the lad has a point, but because of the game that is the bubble is being used for, not the principle. According to AA route planner its 74 miles from Hull to Huddersfield. Given where Hull is, there must be other supporters who live in East Yorkshire who are similarly inconvenienced.

The bubble is sensible measure for certain local derbies - Saints v Pompey, Burnley v Blackburn, Cardiff v Swansea etc - which have history of problems, and it greatly reduces the risk of trouble.

Seems that there has been an absence of common sense on this one.

  4. It could have been handled better, but it does look as if NC has made the right call. I think that NA had taken the club as far as he could. NA is still a top bloke and will get another chance.

The other thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the backroom staff went as well, which also appears a necessary call.

  5. As we are not playing today

Personally I don't like 'The Saints are coming' and would rather that we reverted to the big band version of 'When the Saints go Marching In' that was played in the seventies and eighties. It is our song after all.

    Your thoughts

  6. MP - The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish, and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper, and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord, when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

  7. When SMS was being built I asked the lady in the visitors centre whether they were considering building a station. I was told that it had been looked at but the cost was £3 million to build a station at SMS, one at Ocean Village near the old terminus station, and to electrify the line. I suspect that it would cost more now. Up until the mid-sixties the old Northam station was almost behind the Kingsland and was the last station before the Terminus. One of the difficulties of putting a station on the docks line is operational. The spur from Central station to the docks line has been infilled and is now part of a school playing field, so trains would either have to reverse or miss Central station.

A more sensible place for a station would be on the main line where the train care centre is. Unfortunately South West Trains are not keen on a station there as it would affect running times. Personally I cant see a problem with a station there that was only open on match days/evenings

My guess is that if SMS was ever expanded, the issue would be looked at again, as they will need to look at ways of reducing the crush. Hopefully they will also look at widening the footbridge over the line to Northam road

  8. Really hope that this is the effect of all being stuck at home because of the snow and rumours snowballing. Changing managers now would have the reverse effect and we would end up getting relegated. Keep NA and get Forren and we can look forward to continued improvement in the second half of the table and a lower mid-table finish.

My thought is that NC sounded out Pochettino earlier in the season in case we continued to slide and NA was sacked, and that the rumour has gone from there.
