It will be interesting to see how much we end up spending, we've obviously got the MSD loan to pay off but who knows if that will be in one year or across a number of years. We also had a £15m profit from last summer that should be available.

Liverpool's Nat Phillips going to Bournemouth on loan. A good move, if only because it stops him being linked with us.

Poor old Matty Targett. Looks as if he has failed to impress Gerrard.
Actually, I'll rephrase that - Very rich Matty Targett. I hope he screws Newcastle for a very large wedge.
Good luck to him.
He's just going there on loan so will keep his same wages at Villa surely?

Seems to me he was a good player, then had a succession of managers who expect hard work and long distance covered, and he didn't have the attitude/application to work with that. Ralph is going to work him harder than any of his previous managers, so I can't imagine he'd be a good fit.

I guess when you don't want to answer a tricky question the correct response now is to call the questioner fat?

I don't understand why Chelsea would agree to this unless the buyback is set at something like £35m, he is tied down to them for another 4 years I think, why would they want to pay in excess of £25m for a player they already have?
They could just charge 2 loan fees at £5m over next 2 seasons and it wouldn't cost them anything that way to get him back either in 2 years time.
The only other factors I can think of would be to balance the books for FFP, or more unlikely, for cashflow purposes, but I'm encouraged by this, let's hope someone at Chelsea makes a huge miscalculation.
There's the new rules coming in limiting the number of players out on loan a club can have. Sale with a buy-back clause is not dissimilar to a loan - but obviously would depend on the player agreeing to go.

Very surprised he's gone as low as League Two, I thought he was supposed to be nearly ready for first team PL game time.

By May 2020 the loneliness of lockdown became too much for my Mum and her mental health suffered so badly as a result of the isolation that she had to leave the family home after six decades.
Later that summer I was nominated as her one visitor who could wish her a happy birthday through the care home window.
Boris Johnson is an appalling excuse for a human being and any sucker who supports him now is as much of a c**t as he is.
He needs to resign tonight.
But he's a f**king coward, up to his fat waist in corruption and racism, so he probably won't.
He's never going to resign. He is in politics for his own personal gain and nothing else, and I'm sure he's made many millions off of it and will make even more millions once he's out. Resigning would mean admitting he's done something wrong, and I honestly think he believes he's done nothing wrong. He doesn't understand why rules should apply to him.
He will have to be forced out and I don't think the Tories have the spine to do so at the moment.

Sam Gallagher scored the only goal in Birmingham's victory over Middlesbrough on Sky Sports tonight.

Why wouldn't you manage Watford? No risk to your reputation if it goes poorly because everybody expects them to get relegated, they're always desperate for a new manager and you can probably get a nice hefty severance package guaranteed in a few months.
-
Can't we flog Walcott to Newcastle? Seems like their kind of signing at the moment.

Looks like Burnley might actually be spending some money and City bringing in a striker from Argentina.

1-0 City with a Sterling dive for a dodgy penalty.

Everton just scored, time for Norwich to collapse.

Never in doubt to be honest. We'd all be calling it "stonewall" if it was at the other end.

Yes we all use that or footbite.cc but none of the streams were working at the start of the game, all showing rugby for some reason!

Perraud looks better every game he plays.

Why is Bednarek still on if he's hurt his hamstring? Surely not worth risking damaging it further.

What's going on at Wolves? Covid? I don't recognise Gomes or most of their bench.

We've gone very strong our last couple of cup games, can't imagine that will change. Strongest line up with some kids on the bench, presumably KWP and Perraud at full back.
