Either way the club has ****ed up. Bloated squad full of average players on top wages.
Club is great at selling our star players, but we do stockpile crap
-
That's the repercussion of selling Tadic cheap and loaning out players rather than finding buyers.
Having been net transfer spend winners for last 4 years however you'd expect some funds especially as Kat convinced us Gao was here to push us forward.
-
Saints "fans" will continue obsession(s) with past saints players
Saints "fans" will continue obsession(s) with Liverpool, Everton and WHU
Saints "fans" will continue obsession(s) with Puel, Silva and Mopo
-
After a 2 year break will we beat a top 6 side in the league again?
-
If we sign a new exciting striker and winger it could be a great season.
If we don't (I expect we won't) it will be another bore fest featuring lots of defensive mistakes and what ifs
-
Possibly being better than Long and Carrillo is not a reason to give Gallagher a chance.
Taking the cheap option (ala Stephens) cost us last season and if we haven't learnt our lessons then the management are more stupid than I thought
-
jack stephens going to be the Harry Maguire of the 18/19 season?
anyone?
If we give Sam Gallagher a chance we will be OK.
-
Not intentionally responding to your cast here Galsgow but Im not sure we all over rate our own, many of us see it as it is. After the disastrous waste of money of both Carillo and Boufal I think its worth looking at Gallagher, Sims, Hesketh, Valery before jumping into bed with another expensive risk
Theres nothing wrong with that, of course a lot can be taken from the training ground but some players need to be thrown into the deep end to see if they are the type to thrive
Gallagher - Looks the target man type we have needed since Pelle, obviously lacks the pedigree, his last PL outing was years ago and wasnt terrible, he just wasn’t ready
Sims - potentially the most overrated of those mentioned, is quick but lacks an efficient final ball or intelligence, likely deserving of some games off the bench
Hesketh - One of our brightest talents, maybe too lightweight but the game has some lightweight talents
Targett - Never let us down when he has played and looked good at a rampant Fulham side, obviously not on RBs level, however makes a more than adequate backup
Valery - Honourably mentioned as a talent in our youth sides, similar to Targett will be unlikely to oust Cedric, however should prove to be a more than capable understudy
Decent summary.
I'm all for giving 'younger' players chances, but for me Sam had his chance on loan(s). He didn't excel at all in the lower league and he's 23 soon
Would be frustrating to start the season with Austin, Sam, Long and Gabbi. Toothless would sum it up, we'd be asking for more trouble
Put it another way, how would we feel if we'd signed Sam this summer from Birmingham? Underwhelming
-
We've been over rating "our own" for a long long time.
Amazes me that some think v.average in the championship = potentially great in the Premier league.
-
If Saints were selling him now we'd be getting a lot more.
Not true. He'd be out of contract now and leaving on a free.
-
Classic Les Reed ego signing.
Nightmare
-
Everton supposedly paying Watford 50 million for richarlsdon absolute madness the game has lost all integrity
£20m smakeroonies more than Mane
-
I came on her excitedly
Whatever floats your boat.
-
Ordered 80 shirts
and all arrived today
Cheers Batman
-
Antonio or Redmond?
-
We did well with the VVD sale but some of our sales have been poor and when we are dealing with the clubs outside the top 6 clubs we do seem to struggle.
Tadic, Cork, Fonte, Jay Rod all under sold IMHO.
Obviously the 30m guaranteed on Mane was a joke too

Why are you asking him? He is making it up.
Is he though? Did he just get lucky with his Vestergaard and Gunn predictions and he was right about Shaqiri going to Liverpool before it was in the press.
-
If we are signing 2 strikers then Ings is worth a gamble at 5-7m
If he's our only striker purchase this summer then it's another major f-up by the club.
Sign Ings and Vincent Aboubakar and sell Long and loan out Sam G = good times.
-
How is this Saints related?
A few on here are Everton obseesed. Increased after they took Koeman off us.
U only need to flick through the 142 page (7,000 posts) "detectors watch" thread to see we have a few weak and bitter fans.
-
22 in one game!? That's almost as many as we scored in the league all season
Tbf we were playing mini Chinese teams and pumping them
-
Has zero relevance to this discussion
Just evidence that the club will overpay for very average talent.
But agree zero relevance to this as its only the same club, same management and more overpriced average talent. + the Carillo catastrophe was years ago right.
-
No one has suggested paying 20 million or that we are likely to. Its Liverpool's initial valuation that its incredibly unlikely we share.
l'll just leave this here
-
We have a sensitive bunch of fans that's for sure.
If a guy (or gal) ****s up badly on the job then I will let them know. It's not "nasty, vindictive and vile" lol
Les has performed badly past 2-3 years and his time at SFC is up.
