I actually find that a little distasteful if true. Sure it's not my money in any sense, and why should I care about Twente. But if there was an arrangement in place I would prefer our club to honour it.
Imagine if Barca/Real Madrid do this sort of thing if they eventually sign Mane. We'd be missing out on a bit. Although I concede that's a poor example because English clubs aren't known for willingly giving up money.
There is a lot of history between all acting parties and FC Twente gets what it deserves. Tadic and his agents sued Twente in the past because they believed that they would get 30% of the transfer fee when he was sold to Soton and a court later ruled that it was only 15%. Twente also have a history of scamming Eredivisie clubs and are the most hated club in The Netherlands at the moment (and that's special because it has always been Ajax by a long margin). Now that they've been relegated every Dutch fan hopes they will go down with financial trouble and seize to exist.
-
That's also covered in their disclosure about the signing. 11.9m euro (£10.45m) rising to a possible 13.7m euro (£12.07m) with bonuses. In other words, the most we'll get is a good £6m shy of the quoted £18m.
You're only forgetting something. Ajax paid considerably more for Tadic but the cut they paid to Tadic hasn't been included in the fee mentioned to the press. The 11.4 million mentioned rising to 13.7 million is the net fee that Saints will get. The buyout clause of Tadic was 17.1 million Euro's and 80% of that value is 13.7 million Euro's. Ajax don't have to disclose individual signing on fees and salaries so they only disclosed the net transfer fee that Southampton will get and paid the remaining 20% to Tadic separately.
-
This fee has to be right. Ajax are a stock listed company so they always have to announce the amounts. The fee is probably lower than mentioned earlier because Tadic gets a decent cut of the transfer fee and Ajax pay him separately.
Just did some quick maths. 66.66% of the 17.1 million Euro's mentioned earlier is 11.4 that are Ajax are mentioning right now as the base fee so Tadic. The 13.7 million Euro's after clauses is 80% of the 17.1 million Euro's that was mentioned earlier.
-
be interesting to see what our end say they got for him.

£15M seems a bit light to me.
That's his release clause apparently.

£13-15m apparently.
It's 13. Feyenoord do get 10% of the fee as a sell-on clause.

This was the chap I was referring to. It seems like we are bolstering our youth teams a little... Could have something to do with the U21's now becoming U23's etc.
There were quite a few triallists over. Magid Suleiman and Victor van de Linde were on trial from Ajax for example.

Signs 2 year deal and joins from Rapid Vienna. He's a 16 year old central defender and will start in the U18s. He's also the captain of the Austria U16 team.

There are a few that I think would do well here.
Rick Karsdorp. He is a right back but plays more as a winger. I think eventually he will fill that role. Was joint top assister in Holland last season.
Joris van Overeem. This guy will be a star in the future.
Sam Larsson.
Vincent Janssen. This guy is a pure goal machine. In a couple of years I expect him to go to a big club for sure. If I was looking to buy anyone at all it would be him. He is a natural striker but like Mane tends to be more of a cut inside winger.
Riccardo Saponara.
Andrea Belotti (another quality player).
Those are ones that I would have gone for especially the dutch lads as they would fit in with the set up. Obviously everyone will have an opinion on who we should sign. Doesnt mean I am writing this guy off, far from it.
Karsdorp will be a winger? Janssen is a cut inside winger like Mane? Van Overeem will be a star? Sam Larsson is extremely inconsistent.
Makes me wonder how often you've seen these players because this doesn't make sense for one bit.

To be fair mate he almost certainly would have got the plaudits and wished well had he left at the end of next season and saw his contract out like he said he would.
This is football right? These things happen. Managers don't admit interest in another job while at a club. Clubs commit to managers as well with contracts and plenty of managers get the sack after a vote of confidence while still under contract. Koeman didn't resign with a bull**** reason to join another club and Soton get a very nice fee for his services. Move on to the next manager.
-
The reason he's going is what a lot of you guys are saying. Maybe Everton is a bigger club but Southampton have surely been a better club.
He jumped in at Soton at the worst time possible after a few good seasons and losing most top quality players, but absolutely delivered the results on and off the pitch (signings etc) despite those difficulties. It's almost been a perfect period for him. I'm sure he knows he can't get the resources at Soton to take the next step so what if he stays and one or two players leave again and one or two signings don't deliver as expected next season? Soton could easily be a mid-table team and he would then be labled an average manager, come under pressure and potentially lose his job.
At Everton he's likely to get 4x the budget + 4x the salary that Southampton can offer and he jumps in at the best time possible. Everton have a decent squad that's been underperforming over the last 2 years and there are serious opportunities there. If he gets them back on track his reputation will skyrocket and that will get him his dream job at a top European team (preferably Barcelona).
Koeman wasn't born with a Southampton flag on his bedroom wall nor a Everton one for that matter and he's just looking to do as good as a job as he can do to get to his dream job at Barca. He's done a cracking job at Soton and deserves the plaudits. We gave him the credit at Feyenoord and so should you imo.

Ronald on his way to Feyenoord - PSV to do some scouting.
Vilhena played a great game even though Feyenoord lost.

I wouldn't mind if you went out to get Riechedly Bazoer. You wouldn't mind as well.

All i keep thinking is, how **** Vittesse must be.
They're not ****e. There are plenty of future top players in that side. They're average age is 19/20 or so. It's a youth side.

Vitesse have lost most of their key players this summer (Traore back to Chelsea, Propper to PSV, Vejinovic to Feyenoord) so it's not as tough as you think. They play a very attacking style of football so it's going to be an open game.
I expect their line-up to be something like this.

Correct. Feyenoord have confirmed the friendly for the 23th of july at 20:00 (Dutch time).
-
Can you still get to the Stadium by water taxi? I remember a few fine afternoons of drinking at a hotel by the water before catching the taxi to the stadium. Would love to do the same but with a Saints Feyenoord game at the end.
Yes you can.

Nothing has been confirmed from Feyenoord side yet. Only Koeman mentioned the date of the 24th of July. I think Feyenoord are also still in contact with Dutch authorities to get the green light for the game.
-
FC Groningen have all but confirmed the friendly. Saturday 18th of July at 14:30. They're only waiting for official confirmation from Dutch authorities (police etc).

You can also watch Southampton - Hannover 96 via same link at 14:00. Fluminense have taken the lead in the 2nd half and Saints had a (wonder)goal disallowed. Matches consist of 2 25 minute halves.
