  2. This article is claiming that Southampton will be playing Groningen on July 18th. The brothers Koeman, particularly Erwin who was there for their KNVB cup victory a couple of weeks ago, have got strong historical links with the club.

    http://www.nu.nl/groningen/4049713/fc-groningen-oefent-ploeg-van-ronald-koeman.html

Erwin Koeman was actually chosen by Groningen to hand out the Dutch Cup to the Groningen players.

Southampton are also in talks with Feyenoord about a friendly in De Kuip stadium.

  3. Is 3.5m euros for someone who is not an established 1st team player really "shameful" ???

    Not established?

Vilhena turned 20 last month and has already played in nearly 100 matches for Feyenoord.

The last 2 seasons he has started 53 games + 6 sub appearances out of a possible 68 Eredivisie matches. This season he has started 8 (played full 90 in all) + 6 subs out of a possible 20. He also started in 2 Champions League + 4 Europa League (playing full 90 in all) matches + 1 sub appearance.

The offer was 2.4 million Euro's. 800.000 would be paid in the summer (so from now until the summer Vilhena would've been playing for free at Southampton) + another 1.6 million in two installments with the latest at the end of 2016. Absolutely mad.

  4. THIS ..is the best comment on the entire thread. The guy has been a regular substitute for.... a Dutch club ...it's not as if we're bidding for their star player.

De Vrij and Martins Indi both went for about 7,5 million Euro's. De Vrij had 1 year contract left and Indi had a longer term deal and spent some time on the subs bench last year as well. They both left in the summer and we had replacements from the youth academy ready who are better players than De Vrij and Indi. That's a huge difference.

An installment payment that leads to 2,4 million Euro's at the end of 2016 is a complete embarassment for a player that just turned 20 years old and played in almost 100 matches for Feyenoord. He has been part of the National team squad, reached the prelim squad for the World Cup, won 2 Euro U17 championships while being decisive in both finals and winning the Golden Boot in the process and he is a regular for the U21's.

Adding extra bonusses of a few hunderd thousands that will be triggered when Saints survive the Champions League group stages and reach the knockout stages is laughable. Reaching the group stage would already be a miracle in the Premier League + the Saints Euro coefficient in potentially the CL play-offs and potentially group stage (being 4th seeded).

I understand that Saints want the best deal but trying to get Vilhena on loan in first instance and coming up with the solution above as the best offer is embarassing to the extreme. This is pretty much comparable to Liverpool/United offering the same amount for JWP with a 1,5 year contract. It's crazy and a waste of time and energy.

Koeman should've said nothing about this transfer unless the club was serious in their approach. This is not good for both Saints and Feyenoord. The player wouldn't be interested in a summer move anymore because Saints are clearly not serious with a shameful offer like this and he's now a disappointed player at Feyenoord who hoped to be in the Premier League. If you had used the Cork money 4/5 million Euro's without installments, it would probably be close to getting a deal done.

Was the sale of Luc Castaignos for less than £1.5m not a yardstick that could be used?

Castaignos had an illegal contract at Feyenoord. He signed a 3 + 2 year contract at Feyenoord when he was 16. At the end of the 3 years he could've gone for nothing because players before their 18th birthday are not allowed to sign a contract longer than 3 years. Inter agreed a compensation fee with Feyenoord and were very kind not to go to court to get him on a free (with lower compensation).

  5. Hey it wasn't that bad a game I enjoyed it more than the beginning of the Ajax game that followed but I think that was mainly because I was enjoying watching Van Beek and Clasie.

Do you think that maybe they are talking about Mokotjo to try and put pressure on Feyenoord to lower their price ? surely if Tonny isn't getting into the team some money is better to strengthen elsewhere (LIKE CENTRE FORWARD), what happened to the Pelle money ? Kazim-Richards is on there on loan so where did the Pelle money go ?

The Pelle money went largely into removing earlier debts. We also sold De Vrij, Martins Indi and Janmaat which brought in a lot of money. We brought in about 30 million Euro's and spent less than a third back into the squad (Toornstra 3,5 mil Euro's, Basacikoglu 2,5 mil, Vermeer 800.000, El Ahmadi 750.000 and a couple free transfers and loans).

The Vilhena transfer is 100% off according to Dutch media. The highest bid that was made was 3 million Euro's which is really embarassing and insulting to be honest. Saints have tons of money to spend and are lowballing to the extreme with that figure. Vilhena should fetch at least 5 million Euro's with a sell-on percentage.

  6. I would not pay more than 4 million pounds for Vilhena actually. Nonetheless, Feyenoord will not accept that. Could just end in a stalemate to be fair, which I think would be better for Saints. Vilhena is a far bigger gamble than Clasie.

I think Feyenoord would accept 4 million pounds. Maybe not this transfer window if they cannot sign a replacement but they'll surely accept that in the summer.

  7. Vilhena shouldn't be on more than 500k euros a year currently, so I imagine £20k a week would probably seal the deal yes.

Vilhena is definitely not earning more than 500k Euro's at Feyenoord indeed. Most players that moved on from Feyenoord last year (De Vrij, Martins Indi and Janmaat) are currently earning between 1,3 and 1,7 million Euro's. They were a lot more established ofcourse with a good World Cup showing so it would surprise me if Saints offered him more than 900k Euro's in wages.

The first offer that Saints made was between 2,5 and 3 million Euro's which is quite embarassing. Should be some more news after the Feyenoord match tomorrow (starts 11:30 UK time) as Southampton have made a 2nd bid.

  8. Another scouting report, this one from 2013 and is quite a long - http://espn.go.com/blog/thescoutsnotebook/post/_/id/280

Didn't know his agent is Mino Raiola :scared:

Raiola isn't his agent anymore. Vilhena stopped working with him after he made a few bad comments about moving him on from Feyenoord.

His agents are now at the Stellar Group in England (same agency that moved Bale to Real Madrid).

Feyenoord have rejected a first bid btw. Saints have forwarded an improved second offer. No reports on the number that has been offered.

  9. Feyenoord, in your opinion, will Ron get him back to his best form, and dare I say it, a few goals from him?

The guy has a lot of quality. I haven't seen him this season in Germany so I don't know how he's done there.

He definitely needs to grow physically to compete in the Premier League and if he does that, he can be a really, really good player. He offers something different in the centre of the park that Saints are missing now. Djuricic behind Pelle and Elia/Mane and Tadic on the wing against the weaker teams and in home games is very nice.

  10. To all those who think Djuricic is a forward > He's not!

He is a midfielder who can also play as a playmaker from the left wing and coming inside to his right foot. He's very lightweight, not very quick but a very good technique and very creative. You can compare him to a younger and immature version of Tadic. Tadic is better from the wing and Djuricic is better in the middle. He's competition for James Ward-Prowse.

    2014/2015 FSV Mainz 05 11 0 Bundesliga

    2013/2014 Benfica 11 0 Primeira Liga

    2012/2013 SC Heerenveen 32 7 Eredivisie

    2011/2012 SC Heerenveen 34 10 Eredivisie

    2010/2011 SC Heerenveen 24 2 Eredivisie

    2009/2010 SC Heerenveen 9 1 Eredivisie

    2008/2009 Radnički Obrenovac 17 0 Srpska Liga

  11. So is he any good my friend?

He was a huge prospect when he was 16/17 but he hasn't improved since then. I see a lot of your matches as well since Koeman and Pelle joined but I don't think he's better than Reed. They're pretty comparible apart from the fact that Vilhena is left footed.

  12. 20 year old midfielder with 9 assists and 10 goals. Hmm, JWP but with goals. ;)

    2014/2015 Feyenoord 13 0 Eredivisie

    2013/2014 Feyenoord 32 6 Eredivisie

    2012/2013 Feyenoord 27 4 Eredivisie

    2011/2012 Feyenoord 6 0 Eredivisie

79 Eredivisie games, 10 goals en 8 assists. Born on 03-01-1995.

  13. This game is getting tasty, clasie looking immense, ajax players doing some world class play acting, some classic Klinsman dives from goalie and midfielders.

Toby A presented to the crowd with Daley Blind so the fans said thank you at half time.

Ajax were very lucky just like the reverse fixture. Feyenoord could have won both games, scoring 10 goals in the process but lack a proper striker in Pelle that they had last year. In the home game, Feyenoord hit the bar 3 times in the first 10 minutes and Ajax scored with their only shot from a 25 meter free-kick.

Clasie was a beast today. Very good player.

  14. Koeman should be in the vote.

He clearly masterminded this victory. He worked with Newcastle rightback Daryl Janmaat last year and knew his weakeness would be defensively and following his man. It was very clever to instruct Elia to come deep inside as often as possible to get more space. Elia is not a type of player that does this often so these were clear instructions that got him 2 goals.

    Very well done.
