  1. Amazingly the Germans, who I would gauge as being a pretty bang up to date nation of people, have very little love for VAR.

So Whitey is hobnobbing in some pretty intelligent thinkers in his opinion.

The only German fans I ,know who don't like VAR ( admittingly its only 5 ppl…. ) don't like it cause its could cost them points. am not going to tell you what team they support, but its at a different end to the table we was last season.....

VAR will be good for the low teams who get cheated out of so many games by the top teams cheating.

It wont be good for the top teams who seem to get a lot of bad decisions which end up giving them points.

  2. van Dijk, and Reed's move to make VvD captain for the long term. That worked out well, didn't it? ****ed off Fonte and VvD left anyway. Master stroke by Tweedle dum.

didn't he come back from euros demanding a huge pay rise or a transfer to United? ( even though it was nothing more than news papers gossip that united wanted him LOL ) that's what I heard anyway, I don't know if true or not, but I cant think I would have been lied to as he was highly thought of by a lot of players until after the euors, so he must have done some thing to upset the club n his fellow team mates.

  3. Has the interest from top clubs dropped off? Do you think they would let him go for £20m?

    Absolutely dreaming

and what top team you think will sign this young 19 year old winger who has 12 goals all season in a fairly easy league? what top class winger in a top side is he going to displace, Rashford? Eriksen? , Sanchez? LOL Hazzard? Salah? Sane? Mane? Sterling? Mata? Martial? Gabriel? Moreno? Jesus?, This is just the English top 6 players. Wow loads and loads of Talent here, cant even believe your putting this kid on these guys level. If he was so good, why have Bayern Munich not took him off Leverkusens hands already, you do know the German League is Bayern Munich's own personal youth development team right?

  4. Some of the names on here- give me strength!

You've got Leon Bailey who's linked with every top club in Europe for crazy money (why would he leave Leverkusen for Saints when he can go to pretty much every big club?) and then you've got suggestions like Dominic Solanke, Sadio Berahino and Paddy McNair :mcinnes:

Anyway, the three signings I'd make would be a dominant CB, a forward who can play any of the front three positions and a target-man as priorities. Replacements for anyone else who leaves.

Considering his shocking low wages, which we pay to youth players that have not even seen first team football before, I would think his desire to leave for far far far higher wages to be pretty high, and seeing as interest from the so called top clubs dropped off and his price still sitting at 20 million, I would put us in a good spot to be able to sign him.

  5. I think CWD's question highlights the issue, but Moisin is too in emphasising the contribution he actually made this season, and getting 3 goals in a side made chronically constipated by MP2. To which I'd add a third reason not to sell him: who could we possibly afford to replace him and _all_ his attributes. Boufal, for example, is much more skilful and pacier but doesn't actually produce and can't be relied on in the same way.

I'd like to see how the team performs next season, and in a more positive context, how JWP performs. Mind you, that applies to all of the players, and I'm allowing my optimism a slightly freer rein now.

this is what I mean, when we had RK he played to Mane's strength's and Pelles using tadics ability to pick passes out for Mane who either scored or set up Pelle, MP played to Lallana's and Lamberts and JRods.

    MOPO To tadics and Redmonds

    CP to Tadics and redmonds….

Are two worst seasons, have been playing to Tadics and Redmonds strengths, before hand, we was playing to are strikers strengths, using them to play off them and to get them on the score sheet

  6. For me, this is his issue in a nutshell. He'd be so much more effective 15/20 years ago, but nobody plays with right midfielders any more.

I do think he's made most impact on the right of a front three (the cup final springs to mind) but then you need to make up for his lack of pace in who you pick at centre forward.

If he plays at CM you have to pair him with someone better defensively like Romeu, or inhibit the natural game of Lemina or Hojbjerg.

Essentially IMO he's a good option but not good enough to warrant the reshuffling of the rest of the team that's required if you play him every game.

You will be surprised to know that quite a high portion of goals scored this season was from corners free kicks and crosses into the box, we have one of the best crossers in the league in the team, yet he spends the less time on the pitch, we also have 3 strikers who love to get on the end of crosses, and another who just likes to run around being annoying...…. is it no wonder that Bertrand Cedric and JWP make up the majority of assists for us this season?

Would it not make more sense to utilise JWP more than to keep playing a style suited to Redmond tadic and boufal.? I know if I was a manager I would play to my strikers strength cause at the end of the day, goals win you games, and obviously with the forward line we have, trying to get killer balls in behind is not an easy job and none of are forwards ( Tadic Redmond and Boufal ) can finish!!.

  7. been saying for a few seasons he is Championship level at best. No doubting his dead ball delivery but he is so limited in other areas with a quite simply embarassing goal record. He's had around five seasons now and some of us still bring out the 'he's only young, he needs time'. Well sadly he's had more than enough chances. A good lad undoubtedly and cares about the club, but just not quite good enough.

I know, think about being 4th top goal scorer, joint 2nd on assists, but yet played less min than any other player that played in his position, says a lot about Tadic, Redmond, Boufal. seeing as a more advanced role suits and the formation and tactics used through out the season also suits them more, but doesn't JWP and yet he did there jobs better than they did ( but Tadic but only cause he scored more goals once MH took over. ) and they all playing in natural positions...….. again, not only that but compared over the last two seasons JWP is are 2nd best attacking mid...…. I said it at top of this page, your all Bonkers.

  8. How many people get excited when he comes on as a sub.no one

I am disappointed when he isn't on the pitch every time we get a free kick or corner, cause no one else seems to be able to put a decent ball in, yes we don't score many goals from them, but if the ball into the box is good and no one gets on the end of it, it cant be the person taking it if he did his job and the ball in is a good one, its up to the players in the box to get on the end of it and get it in the net, its this part we suck at, how can that be blamed on JWP?, if any thing its the players fault for not getting on the end of it, and its the recent managers faults too ( As both RK and MP had JWP playing pretty well ) the last two have made every one look bad...….

But even so, this thing ppl have about his pace, I can name a English RM who was probably the best player for England in his prime and yet was also the slowest on the team, yet this dude is labelled a legend in the game, Named David Beckham, yes JWP isn't as good as Beckham, but why do we not use his talents the same way managers did when David Beckham played at united and Real Madrid?, he never took any one on, never beat a man, yet was labelled a great....

At the end of the day, JWP managed just 1717 mins for us this season, manged 3 assists and 3 goals, and is the joint top assists out of all are attacking mids, yet out of all of them, he spent the least time on the pitch. BONKERS!!!! your all BONKERS!!!!!!!!!

  9. I'd say that its the exact opposite the one reason he gets a free ride despite being very average is because he is an academy product. If we had brought from abroad and he was called James Wardic-proswic people would be banging on about how he was a poor version of Gaston. Tadic is a far more talented player and always gets grief from our fans.

In what way? they are different type of players. how many more assists did this amazing Tadic get more than JWP even though he had over double the mins on the pitch than JWP did?

After all if we are comparing them to the roles they played in JWP has assisted the same goals and only scored 3 less goals with 4 of Tadics 6 coming after MH took over, During the period of the last manager JWP has been the better player out of the two with a crap manager, now think of a competent manager using JWP to his strength's, JWP will out assist tadic if played same mins going of this seasons form JWP needs half the time per chance created to his counter part king Tadic………..

If I had to pick one player out of Tadic and JWP for this season alone and based over the course of the season ( and not just the last fews games ). I would take JWP as even though he has had less mins and scored less goals, he has been the far more consistent player in my view.

  10. - Further away from the Saints starting XI than at the start of last season. Barely got a start under Hughes when it really counted and has never been a particularly effective sub.

    - Further away from the England squad even though Southgate rates him and central midfield is our weakest area

    - Six full PL seasons now so hardly a young player in terms of experience

Does he need a move away to get outside of the comfort zone he has found himself in at Saints or is he just not quite good enough to be a PL regular?

IMO after 6 seasons he still doesn't have an obvious position (due mainly to his physical attributes which won't change) which is his main problem.

3 assists ( Same as tadic ) 3 goals ( 3 less than Tadic ) less than half the mins of Tadic, less than half the games as Tadic, saved us points when played which tbf helped us survive, goals and assist that he got won us points when others ( Tadic who u all love so so so much ) couldn't be bothered to turn up...……….

In what was a very bad season, he was one of the better performers in a extremely bad season even though the manager he played under was rubbish. Tadic free pass, JWP not good enough? double standards.. considering he was the best out field performer against city on last game of season I would think he deservers some leniency just like most of you are doing with Tadic.

  11. I thought the transfer window was already open?

Yes was my bad, I forgot the clubs agreed for the transfer window to be closed before the prem season started, so clubs didn't have to put up with players forcing moves and be given to little time to get a replacement in before games start.

So window got moved forward ( Clubs voted in favour of this ) cause FIFA say window needs to be open for 12 weeks, I just totally forgot to add the time to when the windows open

" Premier League clubs in England voted to end the summer window on the Thursday before the start of the season - on August 9 in 2018, instead of August 31. Because FIFA demands the window must be open for 12 weeks, the window will open around May 17, shortly after the final games of the season on May 13. Clubs will be able to sell players until August 31 but not buy replacements after the deadline of August 9.

Although, in England, transfers between clubs in the same league can take place as soon as the last competitive fixtures for the season have been played, many transfers will not be completed until 1 July because many players' contracts expire on 30 June. International transfers into the English leagues (including the Premier League) cannot be made until the window has opened on 17 May. Outside the transfer window, a club may still sign players on an emergency basis, usually if they have no goalkeeper available. Special dispensation from their competition's governing body, for example the Premier League, is required. The transfer window restriction does not apply to clubs below the National League division.[17][28]

If the last day of a transfer window is on a weekend, the deadline can be extended to the following Monday at the request of those involved for business reasons.[29] The first shift of the deadline since its inception took place in summer 2008, when the deadline was extended by 24 hours to fall on Monday 1 September at midnight.[30][31] The transfer deadline in England was similarly extended to 5 pm 1 September 2009, due to the August Bank Holiday ""

So my bad on that. But I am still not worried, I don't think things can get much worse than the season we just had, I cant see the new owner allowing it either.

  12. I thought the transfer window was already open?

It is, for this season only cause of the world cup or some rubbish, but normally it would have been the 1st of June which is default transfer window start date and 31st of may is the official end of season eg MH contract will be up until 31st May.

  13. Im not stressing, MH is currently still under contract till end of season ( which is not the same date as the last game of the season, officially its the end of this month ( 1 day before the transfer window opens). I heard he is defo signing, I would like to think we will spend quit a bit seeing how badly we have performed this season, maybe waiting for transfer market to officially open on the 1st to announce MH and a signing at same time ( Maybe Promes, maybe some one else ) .

  15. Which bit is ‘pony’ as far as I can see, before Poch they were regular top 6 with him they’re regular top 4.

Yes he does probably need to win something with them, but the year in year improvement is obvious and stupid to argue otherwise.

but the real top 4 teams are playing poor, United have been rubbish for a few years, Gunners are currently rubbish, Chelsea too, only top team really playing well and on form is Man city, Spurs if that good should be right up with city, but they are miles off them.

The will get dismantled soon enough and players will want more money and better chance at winning silverware so will leave like Kyle Walker did. Same will happen to Kane, Ali an dso on, they all leave in due time, a couple probs at end of season LOL

  16. So, you would suggest saints budget would be slashed to make it fair on Crawley, Luton, Barnet and such like?

    That sounds fun

No cause it should be diff for diff leagues like it is in every other sport that has caps.

Prem league each player max wage 90 k per week ( which is more than enough )

    Max transfer spend 40 mill.

No team or player no matter how much money a club have can break this rule, penalty 10 points reduction per 1 mill over transfer buget and 10 point reduction per player over wage cap. its not hard to implement, problem is, is no one wants to, The Spanish FA would never agree to handicapping Real or Barca, The English FA wouldnt handicap United city gunners and chelsea on so on, its favoritism. If every one really had the games best interest at heart and not money then the game would already have caps in place for the benefit of fair play / competition

  17. If a genie let you guarantee a win in one of the two games coming up vs Chelsea (meaning we lose the other one).

    Which one would you pick?

    League or Cup?

The cup, cause i have already come to the conclusion we will lose that game as we will either not score, or be out scored by chelsea, so cup for me, can pick up other points in the league, a chance for euro football next year and prem survival, yeah ill take that
