  1. The Telegraph thinks that we were interested in him during the summer...

“Cahill’s availability will alert a host of clubs at home and abroad. West Ham United and Southampton were interested during the summer, while new Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri is likely to try to sign a new defender. The former England international’s former club Aston Villa could also try to tempt him to the Championship.”

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/11/14/gary-cahill-will-allowed-leave-chelsea-loan-effectively-end/

Would love him to come - a captain / leader with experience to organise the defense but unfortunately we wont get him because of wages

  2. Cripes all you optimists...you should join us pessimists - every local journo, Peach, Blackmore etc have said no more incomings yet you expect Wellbeck and a miracle someone taking Forster?

    From another forum

Any actual legs on the story of Dat Guy to Saints? :toppa: :smug:

Like Dat Guy, the legs are probably made of biscuits.

Arsenal just posted a video of them training on twitter and he was involved so I doubt it although I'd be happy to see him go to help give Nelson / Nketiah more chances.

  3. My 2nd draft so far

    GK:

    Ederson - Man City

    Fab - WHU

    DEF:

    Apazi - CHE

    Daniels - BM

    Roberstson - LIV

    Van Arnolt - CP

    CEDRIC - SAINTS :smug:

    MID:

    Salah - LIV

    Cairney - FUL

    Sane - MAN CITY

    Kenedy - NEW

    REDMOND - SAINTS :smug:

    FOR:

    Aguero = MAN CITY

    Arnautovic - WH

    Zaha - CP

Bang on the money - would have like a Everton player due to inital fixtures but cost and cant make mind up between PEA (Ars) and Aguero

    Thoughts?

  4. Career record of 1 in 3, 1 in 5 in the PL, do not see the appeal of Rondon at all.

not the exact picture though is it?

He Played up top on his own with no support / massive gap to the next midfielder - his job was to hold the ball up - run the channels - under two negative managers

Sound familar? amazing what happens when to try to create and score goals rather than just trying to keep it tight :uhoh:

  5. Don't think it's realistic, unless it's a loan because we're skint. He's a brilliant prospect (in spite of what some have concluded from one difficult season for an appalling team) who will be playing right at the top in a few years.

Pace, power, technical ability, strong in the air, and intelligent, proactive off the ball movement that a seasoned striker would be proud of - he's got it all. An by all accounts is a very level headed, bright young man with no ego.

I'd be over the moon if we signed him. But we won't.

Would love Tammy Abrahams or Welbeck tbh

Tammy more likely on loan i would assume as Chelski would want decent money for him PERM

  6. Personally I think he is a great player - again we just had a manager who set up badly and didn't give the players a proper plan. 1st season in the premier league can be hard on players coming from the italian league as the pace is so different.

He was also injured and still played when asked - that's when he looked off the pace or like he didn't care IMO

Will be a great loss if City get him

  7. Think he is a great manager and a good signing for the hammers - Shame as I wanted him for us before Puel - think he will sort them out and unfortunately they wont be near the relegation area next season.

Very expensive though and yes they will sign some ****e but their last load of windows have been poor (or ok players but management / system not great!)

    'Players signed for 16/17 season...

    André Ayew - gone

Robert Snodgrass - gone (might come back - but I assume Villa will buy him)

    José Fonte - gone

Arthur Masuaku - decent some game / rubbish other ones

    Edimilson Fernandes - :-|

    Simone Zaza - gone

    Jonathan Calleri - gone

    Gökhan Töre - gone

    Álvaro Arbeloa - gone

    Ashley Fletcher - gone

    Sofiane Feghouli - gone

    Havard Nordtveit - gone

  8. Reports will leak out saying we've sold him for £25 million. As standard we will lap it up as 100% true.

Financials will then come out in 2 years showing we probably got closer to £9 million ala Shaw, Morgan, Mane ect ect ect

Ultimately what we sell players for is irrelevant if we 1) don't reinvest it all and 2) don't reinvest it sensibly

I wouldn't let Reed and Josh Baskin (aka Wilson) waste more money on players

Can you extrapolate on this? seems a very strange thing to say?

  9. Time to resurrect the thread once more

Had a re-read of the thread - its amazing how many of these sh*t players who weren't good enough for the Saints are now playing for teams doing miles better than us (its almost like a different manager and playing a particular system with a different team might have something to do with it ;-) rather than them being rubbish

Some of the opinion are hilarious

Jack Stephens better than Maguire and Mawson ffs

    Winjanum is rubbish

    etc. etc.

    anyway moving on

my picks which i do understand we wont get until the big boys have had there dibs

As per usual answers on a postcard to BBC centre, wood lane, London W12 7RJ or on here ;-)

    :o :smug: :toppa:

  10. I actually really really like Schlong - I think we should play him and Gabbi together TBH

Schlong's runs off the ball into the channels are excellent and on the counter he is fantastic - unfortauntly we play slow ponderous posession football at the moment

'Would you take £12m for Long - what we reportedly paid for him?

You be mad not to, he's 30 and scored 3 League goals this season, 2 of them against relegation fodder.'

hasn't really had a run in the team or a start recently though so hard for him to score no?

has come on 22 times and only started 9 games?

He is never going to be a 20 goal a season striker but his all round work is benefical to the team IMO

  11. I realise you're probably just throwing some names out there rather than serious suggestions, but I've done my best to dismiss several of them:

Kirchhoff looked great season before last, but hasn't he been out all year? I'd be a bit hesitant after a long knee injury. Also, while he looked very impressive, he didn't strike me as particularly mobile, and therefore I think him & Romeu, while being a great defensive pair, would probably be over-defensive. Not sure if others agree, memory on Kirchhoff is a bit patchy!

Wouldn't touch Kone (though he's looked decent on occasions) or O'Shea.

Not Fabio! Friend wasn't even playing regularly for Middlesbrough, was he? Or maybe he was injured.

Not sure what Huddlestone or Keane have done to merit consideration, not fussed on Mason either. Grosicki has been good but at 28 I can't see it - think a player of that age has to be something a cut above (eg Sigurdsson).

If we signed Cork, Carroll, Fer or Ki they would surely be rotation options. Fer pops up with some goals but not sure about his all round play? Not sure Ayew has done enough to warrant a move here.

It was a slightly exaggerated go

    Seriously

    Maguire, Jak,

    Siggy, Llorente, Carroll, Ayew

    Watmore, Kirchhoff, Pickford,

    Gibson

reality is big boys will have their pick of

Siggy, Llorente, Pickford, Gibson before we get a look in

  12. Hi Gents, which players would you plunder if any? Wages permitting obviously

    Mine below :smug:

    Arise my pretty arise

So window coming to an end (week to go)

and a quick look at relegated squad players suggested

obviously we brought Redmond - still surprised noone has been in for Hoolahan

Clark gone from Villa to Toon

    Wijnaldum to Pool

    Townsend to Palace
