The following video isn't at ARTZLINE CHANNEL but is one that you just can't afford to miss. Ever felt bored at bathtime? Maybe this incredible 20 year old German will give you one or two ideas.

That is amazing! Puts pole dancing in the shade, don't you think?

It reminded me of Glen Tetley's 'Pierrot Luminaire' but far more acrobatic.

Does this ensemble ever tour outside Germany?

Will look at Glen Tetley's 'Pierrot Luminaire', Thank you. Isn't this performance incredible. Germany has so much talent that goes unrecognised but I'm sure this guy and the others are going to be really big. They begin a two month season of a show called Made in Germany in Berlin in September and October and can imagine after they may tour. Eike's appeared on Paul O'Grady's show I saw today and for a lad of 20years able to perform like that the mind boggles what he's going to do in the future.

I've just googled him and found this clip too:

The guy is incredible! I really hope he comes to the UK. I've Facebooked a lot of my dancer friends with this - can't wait for their reactions!

Thanks Art.

This must be one of my best ever finds on Youtube. I've also found and subscribed to him on Facebook and on MySpace and his own official site which is http://www.handbalance.de/pages/intro.php

On the Youtube channel of Matteoblau you can find other videos from him, from other performers from the SOAP show plus a trailer film for the Made in Germany Show that begins in September thru October in Berlin. I'd really love to be able to go and see it LIVE. Maybe Bierfest and the show together. http://www.youtube.com/user/matteoblau

Not had any luck on the Glen Tetley's 'Pierrot Luminaire' Do you have any link by chance?

Well it might have helped if I'd given you the RIGHT title - it's an age thing I think :D

I've found this short vid of Nureyev in the role:

Nureyev doesn't match Eike for suppleness or strength but I hope you can see why I was reminded of Pierrot LUNAIRE (not Luminaire - sorry).

Thank you so much. I've never seen this performance from Nureyev but often seen photos of him dressed in this way. Here, I've found a link to the same clip at Youtube which plays smoother than the one on the Russian website. Amazing when one considers Nureyev's age when performing this piece and that Eike is but 20 years old.

Watching that video of Nureyev makes me realise just how much male dancers have developed over the years Nureyev had so much charisma and, in his time, was a great technician with great emotion.

But, starting with Baryshnikov, male dancers have become so much more athletic. My current favourite is Ivan Vasilev. Here's a clip:

You've just mentioned a real favorite of mine Mikhail Baryshnikov who for myself was really amazing. So ahead of his time and responsible for so much change. I shall never forget the impact he made on me in "White Nights" about his escape from Russia.

Than you for introducing Ivan Vasilev, and straight away it reminded me of a video of an old friend of mine Rudy Bryans, husband of my best friend here in Montpellier, top French choreographer, former dancerAnne Marie Porras. We've been close friends for 37 years now. I never knew Rudy when he was young and dancing professionally but after he went into partnership here in Montpellier with Anne Marie. By that time he was in his late 50's. He's 70 today but in amazing shape for a man of that age. I'll see if I can find a recent photo of him.

Here is a clip from his personal collection when French TV did a program on his work. You will see the similarity with the performance you showed me of Ivan.

I've just also watched "Spartacus" from Ivan Vasilev which I enjoyed. Having lived in China I was introduced to up and coming Combat dancing, something which is now really catching on everywhere. This has tremendous appeal to me as my son teaches Tai Chi and Kung Fu and was very interested in HipHop. It is partly a reason I am an avid follower of Tommy Franzen, the Swedish Chinese who was finalist in SYTYCD this year. We've become good friends and I'm trying to get him to incorporate more of his combat skills into his performances.

You'll never believe this, but it's true. I was introduced to dancing, ballet, by none other that Margot Fonteyn! Prior to that dance beyond disco had no appeal to me whatever. It was 1967, she was staying in a hotel where I worked in Bournemouth, during my final year at college. She attended my 21st birthday party when she and her party gate crashed late at night the party that I was holding in the hotel. I even got to dance with her, disco dancing but not ballet!!!! She later invited me to be her guest at filming of Sleeping Beauty at the Bournemouth Pavillion. For 3 days, myself and a girl colleague, watched mesmerised her filming. It rates as one of the most incredible 3 days I've ever experienced. From that day forth dance in all forms has had a tremendous appeal to me. I am so happy to have this opportunity to discuss the subject with yourself who is so knowledgeable on the subject.

Goodness me, Art. What a pedigree you have! The closest I ever came to Dame Margot was borrowing her niece's dress for a party!

I've enjoyed watching that clip of Rudy and, yes, I can see the similarity with Ivan. Great 'ballon'.

My first brush with dance was seeing 'The Red Shoes' when I was a very little girl. I just fell in love with ballet there and then and I never looked back. Sadly I was too tall to be a ballet dancer ( you had to be under 5ft 6in then) but I did enjoy a number of years as a jazz / cabaret dancer. I then taught jazz dance for a long while before the joints started to complain :D

I'm now about to enrol my 2 and a half year old granddaughter into my friend's dance school. She already knows the five positions of the feet and arms!

Amazing. I never knew that you were a dancer. I was more into singing, playing guitar and composing when I was younger. My friend Anne Marie Porras has taught Jazz for many years. She even had me following Jazz lessons at the time when I toured with her Dance Group Dialogue. Oddly a guy who shared the same courses, Jean Sasportes was the same age as myself and wasn't put off by his age like myself and has gone on to be a top dancer, then choreographer and actor.

You can find Anne Marie's personal website at http://www.am-porras.com/ She is on Facebook and I've been amazed that she's actually using it after years of me trying to get her on the internet. Most of what she does can be found on Didier Barbe's Youtube channel at

http://www.youtube.com/user/didoubarbe#p/a

I use extracts from the video clips on my Youtube site but it's my son whom I'm hoping to record on Video. He's been in training these past few weeks putting together a combat act with a Shaolin friend of his. We'll see what it gives.

Did you know that Lizzie Gough who came 3rd in SYTUCD 2010 is from Southampton? I am friends with her on Twitter and Facebook and am trying to get her to contact the club about doing a show or two. I think she'd make a great mascot for the club but she's been cool on the idea. Maybe it needs the woman's touch and you can try to convince her.

Lizzie and Marc Capete in SYTYCD One of my favorites.

ARTZLINE's latest Video presentation "Young Charlie's Mischief Making"

which shows an imaginary day in the life of the young Charlie Chaplin. The film written by the two leading actors shows the School Mam trying in vain to give the morning dictation to the class. At the back of the class we have a somewhat unruly, naughty Charlot who has other plans.

Hope that you will enjoy it.

ART - I just had to tell you that I saw the latest Rambert Dance Company offering last night. Brilliant as ever and one piece in particular (Cardoon Club) was spectacular. Here's a link:

I know you're not in the UK, but if they tour France ever with this gig, do try to get to it. I think you'd love it!
