SoccerMom Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 Two questions, springing from other threads on the forum: 1. What happened to Hatch? He was as ready as any of the other youngsters at the beginning of the season, but hasn't had a look in at RB. James shows again last night that he really is wasted at RB, and some would say a liability, but could provide the sort of service that frankly has been lacking on the right. If we've got to play a youngster at RB, why is Hatch not there instead of James? 2. Molyneux or Mills? I have only seen Lee Molyneux play once against Donny. Didn't think he was that outstanding. Last night Dave Armstrong seemed to think that he was getting tired at about 70 minutes. Although I saw Mills make mistakes, I never saw him get tired. I haven't got enough to go on to make a comparison, so those who have seen LM play more, is he that much better than Mills? Fish dropped off the first-team radar at about the time of the Great Virus (if you believe the OS). We haven't been able to get to reserves matches this year because of the nipper's own training. Are Hatch and Mills really that far off the standard of the first team?
brightspark Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 1 > I know a lad personally who left Exeter at the same time as Hatch to join Bolton. Mark Ellis, who now plays for Torquay, struggles to make their first team. They were part of the same backline at Exeter. Suggests that maybe he won't be too much better than Ellis, if better at all. James is probably out of position, remember the Youth Cup final he did well as a DM. We should sign someone here really, so its tight to call. 2> We should give Molyneux a bit longer. He has never played for Everton or really gone on loan anywhere so he is very inexperienced. Maybe Championship is a bit high for him atm? I thought Skacel was OK if he is hanging about, and if he won't be played forward like he should be then i'd rather see him at the back than nowhere. Mills? never seen, so can't comment. ottery st mary Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 Hatch/Mills Due to injury and illness both have had a stop start season at full-back. Both are close to being regulars but due to our precarious position their chances will be limited. James is definitely a mid-field player who has done well most of the time but could do a job down the right with Hatch at RB. Ultimately, James is a centre mid-field. These three will come into there own pre-season and next term...Hopefully in the CCC??? With McGlaggon, Thomson, Patterson, Lallana and a few astute buys/loans...I would keep Saga and One size.....Opinion given to me (I am not that astute)based on a regular punter/ ex coach who watches all first and reserve games.....Accurate ......more than likely... SoccerMom Posted 31 January, 2009 Author Share Posted 31 January, 2009 Yep, Tuesday. If Surman at LB, who at LM? McLaggon? Bit of an ask making him start...

SoccerMom Posted 31 January, 2009 Author Share Posted 31 January, 2009 Agree that it would be good to see Gillett and Morgan together if they could operate the way they did at the beginning of the season. But if Surman keeps getting dragged infield, how much worse is it going to be if you put Euell or Wotton there? Not right to make Lallana do it, either... Well I don't know, I think I shall leave it to Mark Wotte, for the moment he has my full confidence.
