Looks like there are direct trains from Central (diverted via Fareham and Guildford) but no direct trains from Parkway, Winchester or Basingstoke.

Well. That's ruining an otherwise excellent away day. Was going to try and go, now wondering why bother

Going via Basingstoke/Reading isn't too bad ?

Looks like all the trains from down here will go to Reading then go into Paddington. Shame that !

Depending where you're travelling from it's probably still better to go direct to Waterloo on diverted train, as once there you can head to Waterloo East / London Bridge / Charlton, early ko so might as well drink cheap cans on the train, then pubs after. 

Going to Paddington you'd only have to head back towards Waterloo on the tube.
