spyinthesky Posted 10 April, 2009 Share Posted 10 April, 2009 Aidy Boothroyd summed it up neatly on Sky. Every team needs a stong spine. Us long suffering supporters would have agreed with this pre season. A big ugly centre half and striker are musts plus a Jimmy Case type player in midfield. In the absence of such players we are constantly bullied out of games by the opposition who generally rely on such players. Also when Poortveliet was here we could at least pass the ball. Now we lump it up front to players who are not physically capable of winning balls in the air. Euell tries but is not up to it. At the back our susceptibility to set pieces must be manna from heaven to opposing managers. It beggars belief that most of us amateur pundits could have forecast this pre season and yet those in charge shell out £1.2m+ for Schneiderlin and Gasmi then add a third GK, an injury prone midfielder, a Millwall Res winger and two waste of space forwards (Pekhart & Robertson) plus a left back who is strugglin g in the Reserves. In a physical League we have a selection of fairly small and slow players.

More to come...The ghost of Rupert looms and if a certain consortium win the bid.....He has a Brazilian total football revolution on the drawing board with Messrs. Woodward and Clifford waiting to wing in...happy days to come;) and total lack of reasonable strategy at the club..
