mdearlove Posted 27 August, 2008 Share Posted 27 August, 2008 I have recently solved an issue my dad had with his laptop - he forgot his password. Upon doing a google search I came across several methods for changing/removing the user passwords on both Vista and XP very easily. I used one of these solutions to not only blank out his user password but also to enable the administrator user and blank its password. So my conundrum is - what is the best way to secure a laptop/pc? My easiest solution is to enable the hard drive password in the bios, anyone care to add to my possibilities? saint_stevo Posted 29 August, 2008 Share Posted 29 August, 2008 Use an alphanumeric password longer than 15digits incorporating special characters and use HDD level encryption?
mdearlove Posted 29 August, 2008 Author Share Posted 29 August, 2008 Well you may as well have no password as the script I have just removes the password completely. Encryption may be the way to go but its a pain.
