Ipswich, WBA, Norwich and Luton last year why do we have to forget the Play Offs next season when these teams are/were capable of getting to them and even promoted after spells of out or not even in the Premier League. Despite his shortcomings RM has given us our club back and has done as well this season as I and many others hoped for.
Arsenal lost 4-0 to Liverpool last time out and everyone was saying what a great side they were. They are certainly a better team than us and probably one Liverpool player is worth the whole of the Saints side. What an unequal league the Premier League is I wonder how the likes of Klott and Guardiola would get on managing Saints with our limited resources get a grip we will never challenge for honours in this league unless some dodgy regime buys us out
The manager is not the problem it is the players. Basically we have the same team as last year and look how that struggled. Is it any surprise we are where we are? Yes we have Djenepo but he is unproven and has been injured Danso is also an unknown quantity and has been played out of position. No point in sacking the manager we need a set team with a purpose maybe time to give youth a chance.
It is nearly 3 YEARS since we beat a top side in the league. This is appalling when so called lesser teams have managed wins. There is something rotten about this side no passion no belief and little ability. Think we need a goodyounprogressive manager e.g Dean Smith of Brentford or Chris Wilder of Sheffield Utd
All these people praising the fact that we have got the same number of points as last year at this stage seem to forget that we went on an amazing run from January to the end of the season do you really think this squad is capable of that. Where are the goals coming from and what about the defence which has conceded 9 goals in the last 3 games it will be worse if we sell VVD.
If we bought a £25-30m striker it would completely destabilise us as all the other players would be thinking why they are not getting the same level of pay. We are stuck now in this regime where we can only buy for £10m or so and hope it is the right person or we may be able to sell on like we did Mane for a huge profit. Making money on transfers seems the god now not trying to improve the team and go to the next level. Surely after qualifying for the Europa League the correct thing would have been to sign players who would take us to the edge of Champions League not bottom half of the Premier League.
Last year we got 6 points from these two games it is going to be a long hard season that is what happens when you replace quality with cheap alternatives
