Our defending has literally been non existent on many occasions to the point where you have to ask basic questions. Why no marking, why no closing down and engagement with attackers? It is either basic poor coaching or maybe even lack of fitness… Not forgetting a poor goalie…

RM hasn’t given our back four more than ten seconds coaching all season, agree totally with what you say in that it is a sackable offence on its own…

So RM has chosen to continue to tell our defenders NOT to engage with their attackers and not to mark up. What the hell goes on in training?

Patently not true…. Plus adds some variety in attack which would not go amiss particularly as Brookes as been relatively ineffective …. Edozie has shown to be a real threat and needs some minutes…

This certainly has some merit though Edozie definitely deserves to play his way back in the first team.

I want to see that RM has been coaching the defence for once as that is the key to his lack of coaching …

So much criticism of our possession football being the problem… It really isn’t our biggest issue though admittedly we are undone by teams who press us to some degree… The elephant in the room is our defence is appalling, just really really terrible. All five of them were total crap against Leicester. Martin cannot coach defenders that is the huge issue and he has obviously never coached defenders adequately. No matter who we buy, who we have in goal and if Stephens plays or not if you can’t coach defending you ain’t gonna win anything! Martin cannot coach defending and that is the issue. We either need to replace Martin or bring in a very good assertive defensive coach to show him how to get this right. if we don’t do one or both we are fucked!

I think you are missing the point. It is not the number of goals we have scored which is the problem, it’s the number we have conceded….

The first two goals were JWPs fault, just stood off and watched the cross and shot.. He was dreadful tonight ..

It isn’t the fact we play out from the back so much as rank non existent defending which causes us to leak goals. We do not perform even the basics of defending and this why we concede goals. We score as many as anyone but concede far more than any promotion team should or can if they want to get promoted. Martin is completely clueless with coaching defending and that means he can never be successful and nor can we.

Precisely Egg…. RM has had a terrible defensive record throughout his managerial career and here he is just as terrible which is not good enough. It has been obvious all season and yet he has done nothing to coach the defending at all. We still don’t engage the ball and allow crosses or passes into our box at the will of opposing teams. Martin has not addressed our defensive ineptness one jott! For this reason I am out…
