I'd rest them all except Peretz, Charles and Larin - as both might need some playing time to get them match fit. Do we have any other injuries? Peretz Roerslev Wood Quarshie Manning Bragg Charles Robinson Matsuki Edozie Larin Long, Jelert, THB, Romeu, Sesay, Williams, Archer, Oyekunle

After taking Stoke apart, I thought we would make 6th. Would be very happy with that considering just how poor we were from the Norwich to Hull games.

We have this FA cup game to rest Stewart and get Larin a bit fitter, so that helps. But you are right, we need to find a way of maximising Stewart + Larin. Until we do, Archer will have to have a role. We've got four midweek games plus the Easter weekend. Not sure if Larin will be fit enough to start the QPR game in two weeks time. He should be fit enough by WBA, so long as he stays clear of injuries. Not really worried about the league table at the moment. What matters is confidence, form and as you say, momentum. The cup game will be tricky as it will be a makeshift side we put out and that often works out badly. Leicester have their own problems though, so they might do the same. It could be a really ugly game.

Exactly. I think after the Tranmere and Leeds experiences, not to mention the Boro, Everton and Villa games in the 2004/5 season, none of us relax until the final whistle.

You never know what get out clauses players have inserted into their contracts, but he will have three years of his contract left come the summer, so if we want to keep him, the offer for him would have to be pretty big. I have to say I am surprised a German top flight club didn't sign in the summer. It was obvious from his Youtube videos that he was a decent player. I recall remarking that I was 'excited by his transfer'. I don't tend to go out on a limb like that. Maybe when every scout watched him he played like he did last night.

Not sure if Leicester fans have been there before, but from now on 2-0, 3-0 even 4-0 will never feel secure.

The injury he has had this season might do us a favour in that it will have kept him off the radar of PL sides, but in all honesty everyone will be well aware of him, so if he has a good run of games between now and the end of the season, we might struggle to keep him this summer. From his point of view, there is not much point in signing a new contract now, if it potentially restricts a move to a PL side going forward - so I can't see him signing a new contract unless we get promoted (and even then he might sit tight). The player holds all the cards and both parties will know it. We may have to break the bank to keep him. That doesn't really work if you are in the championship and entering the final year of parachute payments while also looking to be self sustaining. So, a parting of the ways in the summer looks ominous, assuming he plays well enough to attract a PL offer and that offer meets our valuation. How fucking annoying will that be? We keep losing these young talents before we get the best from them.

Yep. I've watched an awful lot of Saints away games and not once seen us come back and win from 2-0 down. I missed the Preston game in 2008 and was gutted about that at the time. I go less often these days, so have to accept that I will probably miss these once in a lifetime experiences, but am envious of all that attended. I've always said that you have to experience the lows to truly appreciate the highs (To do that in 90 minutes of football is something special). Anyone that follows Saints has had plenty of lows over the last five years to prepare the way for this high. What a buzz it must have been driving home!

I thought the combination of Charles and Leicester settling for 3-0 was key. Charles had the space to work in and he ran the game in the second half. He's a really classy player. Great first touch, which gives him time to pick a pass. Everything seemed to come off for him last night. Little flicks, right the corner balls and when he made runs beyond the front three he was picked out. This pushed Leicester back and it became and endless attack. I was critical when he joined us. I thought he was far too casual and ill-suited to a DM role. I still don't think he can play that role to be honest - he gets caught the wrong side of opposing midfielders too often leaving CBs exposed, but when he is allowed to play a true CM role, allowing him to get up and down the pitch with cover behind him, he looks far better. What a great situation to have Downes, Jander and Charles. That squad depth is what parachute money pays for.

yeah, it t really felt like a role reversal last night. However, it must be said that lots of teams are very Saintsy. We don't have exclusivity on leading at half time but being pegged back in the second half, mangers picking the wrong team, making the wrong subs, subs being too late, the side being too defensive when in front, bringing on an extra CB and it being attack v defence, conceding late goals...the whole shebang.

Azaz has been playing very well and his workrate has bene good. I wouldn't start Matsuki ahead of him. Fellows has played a lot of football and run a lot of yards. There has been a lack of end product, but he hasn't played too badly in most games. Obviously not great against Leicester. No harm in giving him a rest once in a while. Matsuki did quite well yesterday, keeping the ball and making good runs. But he isn't very quick, so it will be difficult for him playing out wide. I've not seen a lot of him, so not really sure if he is good enough to start Championship games. No problem playing in the cup game on Saturday - perfect timing.
-
Interesting that when we have played badly in the second half of games no one on here has suggested that it might have been the senior pros 'half time advice' that was the issue. 😉
-
What a brilliant come back. For the fans that attended it must be up there with the greatest away games ever? In recent times, Liverpool away in the League cup might push it close, but going from 3-0 at half time to winning 3-4 in the 96th minute must take some beating.
-
my concern is that we might play like we did in the first half against Leicester in some of the games coming up, but because we aren't playing against Leicester each time, the second half opposition capitulation doesn't occur. We were really poor. Maybe the odd bad display is OK. We probably can afford to lose one or two and still make 6th so long as we win the others.

Charles is coming back after a lengthy injury, so Tonda might not want him coming on after 30 minutes.
-
Both games left an indelible mark on me. This win doesn't remove it, but it doesn't do any harm either.
-
It's not something I've noticed. Jander certainly seems to have good and bad games, so I will take your word for it that its the consecutive games in a week thats the issue.
-
Perfect reply. You can't throw players under the bus. We might need Archer down the stretch.
-
love it. What a feeling to witness a comeback and winner like that.
-
bet it was like a funeral.

win football games, spirit improves.
-
Absolutely spot on. We need to be very careful with Stewart and Larin was knackered after about ten minutes on Saturday. His hands may have been tied. Tonda gets far more grief than he deserves on here. Some seem to forget that's it players that play the game not the manager.
-
thats the first I've ever read on here that Jander cant play two games in a row. You might have noticed it but not everyone has.
-
maybe not the time, but unless he signs a new contract soon, then we wont see the best of him. He looked a class above tonight. He's got the first touch to play at a higher level and the loan to Wednesday has got him making deep runs too.
