  1. Thanks everyone - seems like you all want rid of me ... no seriously, I appreciate everything you're saying and I do think that if I didn't do it, I'd always wonder what it was like later on in life.

Having spoken more to my boss today, it would be a lengthy process anyway, so I have plenty of time to think and so on.

@VFTT - Washington State (well, the cities) are much more liberal than most of parts of the US and in fact, it really has a very different feel to other places I've been to, even Boston. Plus, Vancouver is only a couple of hours drive away!

@Jill - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_companies_based_in_Seattle - Energy is not my bag, but Seattle area has a wealth of hi-tech companies and Redmond is the home of Microsoft ;)

@Turkish & Charming Man - you both make valid points, but a) you'll have to put up with me running off at midnight a while longer and b) my fashion sense will remain intact

But thanks to the people to have emigrated for your opinions, exactly what I wanted to read!!

  2. Given a chance id quit the UK v.fast!

    Good luck

Thanks - and I agree! I honestly think I've had enough, I love my country but I'm increasingly disillusioned with many many things and I think I may as well make the move if I can, while I can!

  3. Esteemed members of the forum who have moved to the US; and I know there are many of you!

I'm seriously considering upping sticks and moving to Seattle for work. Many reasons, one being that whenever I go there, I find that it's everything that I really look for in a living environment and I love it there.

So, for those who have made the move; how hard was it? What do you miss the most? What don't you miss? What are the main pitfalls etc?

I know for a fact that Washington state has fantastic beers, amazing wines, a great outdoor lifestyle, a lovely city in Seattle, plenty of good fresh food (and sea food) and LOADS of space - so I think those are the major upsides for me.

As well as working in my company HQ rather than a satellite office which would make my job easier.

Any opinions from US-dwellers gratefully received, thank you!

  4. Being straight, I don't understand gays, gay rights, gay views, gay wants and needs and never will do. I don't want to understand as the sight of two men kissing on TV makes me feel sick, but if they want the choice to get married in a church, then fine, they should have that.

Just don't bother inviting me, thank you.

  5. Here's another point to the argument. Those of you dressed like prats in skintight football tops and clown suits, get in to many places after the game do you? No, thought not.

Those of us dressed properly can a) look smart, stylish and classy at football and b) get in to places long after the match has finished without being refused entry or laughed at.

    Case closed.

  6. Don't you read the HCDAJFU thread? How do you find out if SaintSpaz68 thinks we should put in a cheeky bid for Lampard or whoever?

No, as some of us have jobs to do and don't want to read a 7000 page thread on what SaintDickwad thinks of a player we'll never sign, just because he signed him on Football Manager.

It's FAR easier to see a thread title on a player and read about that player quickly in a few posts.

The obsession the squares on this forum have with ridiculously long threads is weird - we work, we have jobs.

  7. I was actually stood next to Turkish when he asked someone who was dressed as He-Man why he was wearing that ridiculous outfit. Once again, the person wasn't able to answer, nervously smiled and walked away.

I remember that, person scuttled off sharply with no answer as to why they were dressed in a ridiculous manner for a 40-something year old male.

  8. I find it strange that Cortese is yet to comment on promotion. Has anyone heard anything from him that I've missed? I would have thought he would have posted a statement or comment of congratulations on the OS by now...

Why the hell would he not be quiet? He's the Chairman, not the manager, not the players, not even the Director of Football! I don't want to hear from the Chairman - our fans' obsession with them is scary.

It's another reason to stay away from this forum, especially now the football season has ended for us.

  9. I loved the fact that there were flags, balloons and a see of red and white (of which I was an XL contributor - 14.5 stone, so not a lard arse just yet). It felt like a cup final. And so it should. It was.

If you don't wear colours, you're deluded.

You want acceptance, you want to be a cog in the football machine, you want assocation and affinity, but you believe by somehow erecting your own 'fashion' perimeter you maintain an air of authority.

But sadly for you it's bo ll ox. It's psychological repression. It's a barrier you erect because you fear rejection from the pack. Your sub-conscious is protecting you from your own insecurity.

The rest of us don't fear rejection because we don't require any form of 'vindication' from anyone.

Happy to help - professional fees extra...

    No.

How can you get excited about getting dressed up in red and white, face paints, balloons and so on? It's a bit sad. You're an adult (I presume) and yes, if you were 12 or under, I'd probably understand wanting to do all that. But not a grown man. It doesn't show anything other than you're a sheep.

It's nothing to do with rejection either, of all the well dressed people I saw (myself included), no one had the same clothing, everyone was individual.

  10. He asked for a decent boozer, not a pub full of helmets taking pictures of themselves on their phones.

"Oh look at me in my tight fitting replica shirt, oh look at you in your tighter fitting replica shirt, oh let's take a picture of both of us, again, in our tight fitting tops"

    I can't stand that place.

  11. I really do feel sorry for Coventry's fans - I've always liked the club and even the city having spent some time there. I think our two clubs were always very similar throughout the 90s especially in terms of size and battling against relegation. I also feel very sorry that they got lumbered with the SISU mess but thankful we didn't!

Having said that, I would love another 8-2, easy day at the office, no nerves, thank you very much.

  12. I think I've got two spare tickets. Not entirely sure as when I ordered online, it said 'time out' so continued to order, same result. Then 2 hours later got confirmation saying ticket order confirmation!!

I think I may have a few spares, will post them on here if I do.

Can I bag one please if you do? Cheers mate!

  13. Quick question for you, if Murty celebrates in the players lounge tomo night at Reading going 1-0 up will you all say this is fine?

I'm not sure he would. It's in his interest for us to go up (and take him and his job with us), but equally, I could understand his heart ruling his head and giving a small clinched fist "yes" if they scored.

I think I would if I were employed by another club and we were playing Saints. But no, I don't think proper celebrating would be on at all - and I'm not sure (well I hope) he wouldn't be like that. He must want us both to go up!?

  14. Been a bit non-committal about Guly, but he really was f*cking useless today. But then, De Ridder wasn't much better - new right winger needed!

Shame we didn't have Puncheon really, I actually think he would have been okay today.

Lambert was anonymous really, maybe not getting stuck in, frightened of injuring himself?

  15. So what did you not like about Headhunters? (You must have been very keen to see it though, since it's only released today)

"I can't stand stuff LIKE" I said - I'm being totally judgemental - I can't be bothered to concentrate on a subtitled film, does my head in! When I watch films, I need to not think and be entertained, like an American. Working for them must be rubbing off on me ...
