If we had started the season with Peretz and Larin…
Patrick Bateman replied to Toussaint's topic in The Saints
Plus Wood now preferred to Quarshie, another stunning summer signing. -
Let's face it, all forums have dins, we have plenty.

Outstanding interview - love that the players are really buying into the manager and he obviously have something about him that they like, love hearing the passion. Flynn especially looked like he'd lost all passion for playing at the start of the season (maybe the illness??), but he's be fantastic in 2026. Really enjoying watching us play again. For me, crucial point of note is that we won, away, at the top of the league without Scienza. Mentally those are a couple of huge confidence boosters. Lovely stuff. Peretz, love this guy.

But but the double pivot, so important when playing against the ball, especially with the low block because you need that against inverted full backs playing a false nine, trying to force a transition in play. I mean, wtf.
-
I can picture this really clearly. I had a similar 'chat' with a school Dad (who doesn't support 1 team, he likes many), I couldn't take it, I just turned around and walked away. Never spoke to him again.
-
Genuine question - from what I can understand, this new 'low block' term is simply parking the bus, yes? Why is football such a load of bollocks now ...
-
Weird match. Started very well, Scienza injury killed what forward flow we had, West Brom fouling persistently and getting away with it. Second half West Brom were by far the better team and had cut out the fouling and started to play more actual football, which then became their undoing as we play better against teams playing football rather than clogging foulers. Larin (as already said) needs to just do that all match, every match. Fellows I don't understand, he's a shadow of the player we saw earlier in the season drifting down the wing, in and out and putting crosses in. Think he needs a proper chat to offload what's changed for him and get his confidence back - there is an awesome player there. Azaz kills me, one minute incredible, then today (or every other match), misplaced passes, taking hours to line up for a perfect shot etc. Ugh. A point is a point and being unbeaten matters psychologically.

I'd have gone all Billy Bright in Football Factory when he takes his missus to the pub ... "OI, keep your fkn noise down" 😂

Next Saints manager, aged 21? Probably ...
-
Agreed - he should've had one today easily. Love the guy, but that final ball is more often poor than good. 1. Should've scored that major chance 2. At least two chances today where he could have passed across goal to Larin or Azaz. Although I think the main Larin one he didn't as he (Larin) was offside??

Wood did well, but Stephens has been decent recently. Would bring in Charles and Matsuki (for Fellows as I think he might melt going back to West Brom).

I think Peretz overall all round game IS better than Ramsdale. I think Ramsdale is a quality goalie and superb at many things, but I'm not sure he has as good a command of his defence than Peretz. Peretz, to me, comes over as a more old school goalie, less about dribbling and passing, more about getting in the fking way, getting hurt, throwing himself around and bellowing at the defenders in front of him. Many managers would hate him for not being a "ball player" 🤮 but I really like this guy, a lot. IF we get promoted and are able to buy this guy and IF Ramsdale comes back (and Baz), then that would be the best goalkeeper problem we've had for as long as I can remember.
-
Remember it well ... there was almost one a year at that point, Cosimo Sali, Mark Paul and others I can't remember
-
He's right, would be a perfect time to bow out and never give a sht again! Completed it mate.

No no, Nige and Sultana say everyone should stop doing anything, I mean, why are you still shopping? Why are you showering? Why are you watching the latest box set on TV and going for lunch with a work colleague, it's nearly WW3 ... 🌚 These people are insane.

What’s your unpopular opinion on Saints?
Patrick Bateman replied to Willo of Whiteley's topic in The Saints
Charlton fans, when they came down, did a better version of the ole ole ole song than our chapel 1885 one. -
Awful match, generally very low quality, one of the worst, but, who cares, 3-1 winners is what we need to keep doing, well done lads, could've easily been a banana skin today but job done.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Patrick Bateman replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
I agree with you. But Greens are just as dangerous as Reform. Both are fruit cake parties that I pray never get anywhere near enough seats to make an difference. -

Cough ... by-election, not "bye election" ... cough -
They will restructure the debt for more favourable payment terms. i.e. longer period to pay back or more favourable interest rate, or both. Standard business practice. They could even extend the debt to pay the debt repayments on the provision that they will 100% get promoted ......

I don't know, I can see the addition of another 0.75 points per match if your xg is >1.8, your possession is > 67% and you have scored = 1 goal, being good ...
-
Photo from the official site ... I think we can all see Leo gets hacked around every match, but clear proof on that ankle!
-
This. I would be annoyed if we were NOT promoted, who wouldn't be? But the Championship is a brilliant league overall, much more entertaining than the Premier League circus, but the clubs needs the cash innit.
-
100% I'm sure IF we get promoted he'd be good to have around as club captain, but I would hope that lesson learnt from last time and that the club buy in a good, proven, Premier League centre back, or two.
-
He has definitely been much better. But then there are a few things, one of which you highlight: - Stable partnership with THB - Goalkeeper who is VOCAL and they may have more trust in (hypothetical) - Back 4 with proper fullbacks - Confidence! - Undisputed captaincy - no swapping around with Armstrong etc But yeah, he's been much more stable - in this division.
