Well he's used to playing with a terrible defence in front of him - half these shots he shouldn't have had to save 😂

This is true, but as I said on the match thread, you could see after the break that West Brom were teaming up on both Scienza and Fellows. As soon as one of them got the ball, there were several West Brom players closing them down. I think last night the first subs were too early, however if you're going to take Scienza off (who was being swarmed and looked like he was flagging, unsurprisingly after the shifts he has put in), then JUST take Scienza off, not 2 key players at once. I feel with hindsight that a one for one swap would've been better, bringing on Robinson on his own to get used to that front line with how Azaz, Armstrong and Fellows work together - I think Robinson would benefit from that and being the only sub in a like for like swap. So yes, taking off Fellows and Scienza together is / was a mistake. Side note: Scienza for Robinson, yes. Scienza for Fraser of Aribo, no. In Jan we really could do with a couple of Brooks type loan signings.

Bloody brilliant match ... first 10 mins was boring cagey, proper wet Tuesday night football until we exploded ... a delight to watch for the next 30 mins. 2nd half you could see Scienza and Fellows were a) being marked and hassled out of the game and b) flagging (in Scienza's case more). West Brom came out to stifle them both. I think it just shows we need better options off the bench than Aribo and Fraser. Our best defence is attacking. But a wonderful 3 points, the team continues to gel and learn together - great times! Pretty sure 3 points from Norwich and I think we'll be playing Coventry at the right time too ...

Who!?!?

100% agree with this - so long as we don't get people complaining when we win and it's ugly or boring we will be fine. As a side note, I've been from bored though so far.
-
I said this to my son today, on current standings it is light years ahead, especially over Still and his throwing 15 attackers on to get a goal back subs ...
-
Agreed on both counts. I do think he's past his best too and should be moved on gracefully. He has been a decent squad player but not any more.

It'll be a city that "needs investment" (i.e. a bit of a dump). A city like Southampton is never considered to "need investment" ... I doubt Portsmouth will win either, they are tarred with the same brush as us, being Southern.

Did you do the hand action with 6,7?
-
Jesus, that was retro 😂
-
True, but in my opinion, the current squad is better (by a long way) than the squad Selles had - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022–23_Southampton_F.C._season Far too much dross in that lot, it's horrific, no wonder they were relegated.

Interesting, I hadn't realised his CV - background in the "Red Bull style" and Bayern Munich, plus that Rose fella ... That's a pretty good coaching foundation from my limited understanding.
-
I don't know much about Millwall this season - does much the same again from us finish them off? Their results don't suggest they are anything other than a normal mid-table side.
-
This. There is an element of "I don't want to tell you" 😂
-
I hadn't noticed that, bloody hell ... they are shocking! Unsurprising no new manager bounce for them either ...
-
I assume you've never worked with Germans before?

Sadly from what I saw he was still one of the negatives. He did seem to look a bit more lively and his run forward with the ball, whilst slow, was controlled. However there was one bit where the ball was passed back by a Charlton player, Downs was onside and seemed shocked that the ball had gone past him, like his whole world stood still for a minute before he reacted. I'm still hoping there is a good player in there and am ready to be delighted, but whether it's lack of confidence or nerves or just incredibly slow processing of the speed of English football, who knows. He should definitely be getting 90 mins in the U21s regularly though.

Oi ... SFC ... give us a job coaching ... Me: why is playing 5 centre backs a good idea for a football club in the championship playing charlton atheletic? GPT: Playing five centre-backs (or a back five made mostly of centre-backs) can actually make sense in certain Championship matchups—including against a side like Charlton Athletic—depending on your squad strengths and the opponent’s style. Here are the key reasons why it can be a good idea: etc etc GPT again: If you want, I can help you design an ideal back-five tactical plan, including: Player roles Press triggers Build-up structure How to score on the counter against Charlton. Me: Sure, go for it GPT: LOADS OF STUFF, honestly, LOADS of it and this ... Keep distances tight (Championship teams score when back lines stretch) Do not press high for long spells—be selective Wing-backs must be fit enough to defend deep AND counter Middle CB must communicate constantly Direct transitions are more effective than slow build-up Me: If the football club playing 5 centre backs is Southampton, what does the starting 11 look like? GPT: Bazunu Stephens — Harwood-Bellis — Quarshie — Edwards — Wood Downes — Charles — Jander Armstrong — Archer

Why is there zero update from the club? I mean, I don't expect to kept informed on recruitment, but at least an update on the plan would be nice - the silence is just a bit weird. It's not hard to share a "Hi loyal, paying, fanbase, the update is ... ... We are waiting on a candidate to be available ... We are giving Eckert a couple more games ... We are looking at bringing in someone to help Eckert ... Recruitment is challenging, but ... "
-
Whom out of Still and Eckert is actively employed by SFC? 🌚

Sorry I only follow Ronaldo.

Ahhhh thank you ... just couldn't put a name to the face!

Should just rebuild the gas tower and stick a new ground in it (wtf is this? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cly9y030r37o) and build a huge flyover the top like some kind of statement road, the highest road in the world or something. New statue needed of Morse's cock too. Where's the statement? Pft.
