You're right Wes.
I think the saddest thing of all is that people still fear being outed. I think, generally, that here in the UK we are tolerant and understanding.
It's sad that competent people still think they'll be discriminated against because of their sexuality. Ironically, MPs who have come out havent' really suffered discrimination (I'm thinking of Ben Bradshaw and the Tory MP Alan ??? - can't remember his surname ATM)
I think there's something inherently immoral and tasteless that a person who currently owns that business can put the business into administration and then come out the other end and run the self same business again to the detriment of all the other businesses that it owes money to.
(very badly constructed sentence - sorry )
I've learned a little bit more this morning, mainly from comments on the Andrew Marr show.
The concensus view was that his homosexuality isn't an issue. However, it seems that his parents are devout Catholics and he was looking to protect them by keeping his sexuality from them.
Where I do have some doubts is his statement that the other man wasn't his partner because they had separate bank accounts and didn't socialise together.
This could apply to many married and living together couples I know. But they're still partners - so I think he was a tad disingenuous there.
Because of his undoubted financial acumen and the respect with which he is held by politicians of all parties, I hope he soon returns to the cabinet.
Well, in the past we've had Sandie Shaw, Cliff Richard, Katrina, Lulu.....
I don't give a toss either but it did bother me that a lot of the mainland Europe entries had had loads of airtime Europe-wide before the contest
