Great. Now we'll never know if that happened in it, as no one will admit to having watched it. 🙂 Me? ... lowers voice to gravelly, non virgin geek tone... never seen it in me life...

My tea making with the radio today had a person being interviewed by Nicky Campbell. She said that Clarkson's tirade (that I've not read) was racially motivated. That not only was he a misogynist, but was clearly a racist. When challenged she said that whatever Clarkson said had clear parallels with the slave trade. He would know this, and therefore it was a racist attack. Campbell challenged again, and the person interviewed seemed taken aback that anyone would challenge this narrative. Campbell asked where was the racist element to the comments, highlighted that whatever it was was a general form of punishment, and with more recent links to a TV programme. The person back peddled to misogyny, but snuck in another "clearly" relating to the real hatred Clarkson had, before I turned it off. Right at the end Markle was mentioned. So based on that snippet, Clarkson may be:- A racist A misogynist Have views on crime and punishment that are from another century. Be a very staunch monarchist, who will attack any of their critics. Watch so much of a TV programme that it bleeds into his normal life. Be a bit of a bellend. Leave himself open to people looking to peddle their own unsupportable agendas. Keen to say anything to shift some newspapers/clicks. Leave himself open to people who worry about him wandering around in their community. None, some, most or all of the above.

And not long after Mead's own ACL injury. Can only hope a swift and full recovery for them both as the WSL is a poorer place without them.

I caught a few, tea making, mins just before half time on BBC radio. The commentator was about to tell us what a lovely stadium it was. But made sure to trot out that "there had been some problems with the construction" first. So glad the Beeb hordes are there to preface the odd sentence or two. Then it was a couple mins on how France were woeful and "had lost their identity." Not a jot on how the game had gone tactically. Why were Argentina better? Why had France had to make subs? What had happened? No idea. They're not capable of moving on from winners= all good things; losers=all bad things. They were more interested in their bubble world where another commentator was blocking their view. Tea made, and the rubbish was switched off. Caught the last couple of mins and pens on ITV.

Surely we all want the spirit of knock out competition to be captured by It's a Knockout elimination? The players dress up in country mascot outfits and multiple giant inflatable balls are used. A fun filled goal fest!

I've never drank much at home, and lockdown took care of social drinking. That lack of alcohol really got in the way of this year's ale festivals, where I was pacing it much earlier than usual.

Can't believe Saints overlooked this guy. Look at all the stuff he can do... Sack the board!

I think the thread got infected with the woke mind virus after the first paragraph, where it moved onto the post's real message, which was to tell us how noble and just woke people are. 🙂

I only hope Yahweh steps up along with Jones. It's a deity with lots to prove at this level, and I'm sure there are a lot of fans who would have preferred a Hermes, Ares or any God of thunder, even on a short term contract. 🙂

I can only hope the hordes of BBC, and connected, staff that descended on the World Cup will carry that human rights torch through to the end of the tournament. As Alex Scott said, not going would have been the easy option. It's heart warming to know such a large team of dedicated media personnel are diligently reporting on the country. Taking a stand, or a knee, depending on circumstances, when the team now can't.

I'd not seen that before. Thanks Kingsland Codger.

That would have been something. Kane touches the ball sideways, and with Lloris on the deck, nippy Kyle Walker races in to put it in the other corner. In a parallel universe somewhere... >sigh<

Sounds horrible, and can only hope it's not as serious as it looks. I came into the thread thinking it would just be news on him getting some goals, with the slight hope that Chelsea had not only bought 3 strikers, but had disciplined him for constantly declaring his love for Saints in their dressing room. So, that turned out to be pretty much the opposite of something good. Hope he makes as speedy recovery as possible. While terrible for anyone, there's something even worse when it's a young player with a whole career ahead of them at the highest level, that's now at risk.

I thought you were going to say "I reckon we should have five potential penalty takers lined up on the edge of the box..." They all run up to hit one of five balls on a line, and England get to count all that go in. Maybe, just maybe... England could take games into extra time/ sudden death penalties as a result. 🙂
