There’s a lot of route one merchants on this forum. When you play against the best sides and lump it forward from the keeper guess what? Most of the time the pressure is coming straight back at you and you’ve not had time to set your shape. Does no one remember how much that happened 22/23 we spend moments in matches just trying to clear our lines only to be punished time and again. We were especially guilty of this in the last few minutes of matches and lost countless points because of it.

Definitely shared sentiment there I think mate. Most of us would be quite excited for a young prospect like Fernandes if it wasn’t for a huge GK shaped hole we need to fill.

Skipp on his way to Leicester as per Fab.

Exactly this. Sometimes a non answer is an answer unto itself.

The tweet explicitly says he's settled as an 8. I don't think he's the same profile of player as MOR. Feels more like squad depth for Smallbone/Aribo which I'm not upset about.

There was a post a few pages back about our finances that said we had probably around £30M of headroom without taking into account outgoings. If Charlie, Seku and Armel go that's £40M ish coming in and only £15M spent on Archer since that article. Would leave a nice little warchest to get a few bits done.

I think there's more in the offing as far as in's are concerned. The club kept Archer and Ugochukwu close to the vest and I'd image will continue to do so until the window closes given how ruthlessly competitive the market is.

We can be looking at more than one player at a time. I'm sure a GK is at the top of the list but deals for specific players take time and circumstance. On Fernandes. I know nothing about him but he looks a good ball carrier. Decent eye for a pass. Could be a direct replacement for Charlie (Albeit a little lower on the pitch) if the Flamengo deal is on.

Not living up to your username here fella. A quick point on the 10 men advantage btw. It's been statistically proven to be a bit of a red herring. The number of points won/lost after a player has been sent off is around 0.3. That doesn't eliviate the disappointment in the fact that we conceded, but considering it was an absolute howler of an individual error and Newcastle then proceeded to throw all remaining 10 men behind the ball I don't think the reality is as poor as the optics would have you believe.

Agreed he looked more than physical enough to handle the rough and tumble. Short but solid cameo. Think we will see a lot more of Ty this year.

Despite what you might read by some around here that's exactly it.

The are no ‘easy 3 points’ in this league

Gave a far better account of ourselves than I thought we had any right to against a very good team. AM and GK crucial to survival.

Wasnt when Yuki was on ☹️

Archer and Dibling on

Better than any performance from the 22-23 season for me so far.

Missing a header doesn’t put you 1-0 down against 10 men. The system isn’t changing, the personnel NEED to.
-
You can’t blame Martin or the rest of the team. The game to that point was perfectly played. That’s just fucking awful from Macca. Need a new keeper NOW.

The dislike of Stephens in this forum borders on parody 😂

Yeah I think loan signings are going to play an more and more influential role in teams who are wanting to avoid the drop. With FFP and the like it's a shrewd business decision and smart for sustainability.

Based on pre-season and recruitment it feels like we're going to be running with 3 at the back and wing backs a fair chunk this season. Less concerned about a winger with thats in mind... O'Riley and a Keeper and we might surprise a few.

Quality word gazumped. You get a like just for that. Welcome big Les. Feels like there is a solid option for a double pivot now which would really help shore us up when needed. GK and a quiality AM and we can compete to stay in this league.

1-0 United deft finish from Zirkzee from a cross
