  1. You can just press the reject bid button cos that’s what they do on FIFA 👍🏻 Virtual world is a nice delusion because you don’t have to worry about important things like the team dynamics and the players being people rather than a stack of ratings
  2. Has the window closed already? You’d think so based on some of the hysteria tonight.
  3. Can somebody check on the Burnley chairman and his daughter please #FreeTella
  4. Meanwhile, at Leeds... Sold: Tyler Adams, Rodrigo, Tyler Roberts Loaned out: Robin Koch, Max Wober, Jack Harrison, Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca, Rasmus Kristensen Released/returned: Adam Forshaw, Weston McKennie, Joel Robles

    Che Adams

Russell Martin on Ché Adams: 'The conversation is ongoing. The one thing I am 100 per cent sure of is the character of Ché and how good a professional he is. I really hope we can continue with him, we've rejected a couple of bids - one recently and one a couple of weeks ago - and we have offered him a new contract. There's not a bid on the table that meets the club's valuation, so nothing will change from us. It will be down to how Ché feels about it. As it stands, the situation has not changed and he'll be in the team tomorrow and if he isn't it's because something developed in these 24 hours.' Finished by saying that he hopes Ché is giving the new contract some proper thought because despite gripes he may have with previous regimes at the club, it's a different chapter now and he's somebody that is really valued as a player and as a person.

  7. Where was it that said yesterday that we declined to bid? I guess both can be true. I imagine the feeling more wanted by Leeds stuff comes down to the fact we were quite open about the fact we’d only be signing a striker (in this case, Piroe) if Ché left. Leeds took advantage and went flat out while Everton and co kept us in limbo.
  8. Reminds me of the Darren Ferguson / Richard Chaplow stuff too. They’d both slagged each other off and Preston sold Chaplow to us for a measly £50k to get him out. Turned out to be a good pickup and never anything other than a good egg in the dressing room, based on how his teammates here spoke of him.
  9. Rob Dorsett (Sky) saying we’re back in again for Nathan Wood, looking to restructure the payments so they get more upfront and the add-ons are rescaled to be more achievable more quickly. He also adds that Wood has told Swansea he wants to leave.
  10. Quite. In terms of acquiring experience (in this country, certainly) there's basically three routes: 1. PL players who need to take a drop down because they're stuck as squad options elsewhere (Holgate, Fraser) 2. Established Championship players who have been round the block and you think can step in and perform (Manning) 3. Established L1 players who you think have untapped potential to play higher up the leagues (Rickie Lambert types, and they are a rare breed) I'm not really sure what other kind of experience we are likely to get aside from retaining some of the players who came down with us. (Maybe a free agent or two... again, Manning)
  11. Can't believe we're doing loans FFS. Unacceptable penny pinching, wouldn't see the Leicester owner doing th... oh.
  12. I doubt it, he's much more of a left winger than a right winger. I suspect Sulemana is off (which I've thought all summer) Tella and Fraser the 'experienced' wingers who are more likely to start Amo-Ameyaw and Edozie the younger options who can have 20-30 mins here and there to develop (especially Edozie, who still has no end product)
  13. No chance Sean Dyche is letting a 6'5" CB leave his squad
  14. I’m fine with this, especially if Swansea have us by the balls on Wood. Is he honestly a £15m defender at this point? For that money, I’d want a guaranteed starter who you know is going to perform in the PL (should we get there). Holgate will be decent at this level. Let’s not forget last time we got promoted, Jos Hooiveld was great for us (yet totally shit in the PL) and the backups were Aaron Martin and Dan Seaborne.

  16. I don't really think he's particularly worse than Perraud, who couldn't defend well but was handy going forward. (which is what the criticism levelled at Manning has been, from what I've seen) It'll be interesting to see Perraud's career after Saints. I think he gets talked up a lot by virtue of just not being as shit as the rest of the car crash. It's been three games for Manning and the two mistakes leading to goals have been incidents of falling over, rather than deliberate bad decision-making or anything like that, so Manning should be cut some slack for now. It'll be interesting to see how he gets on when we have a more settled midfield and when the centre backs calm down - we hope - which should make the games a bit less like watching basketball.
  17. Yeah, but probably someone a bit more supplementary. If we can get Paul to piss off, maybe we can loan in a third senior option (not sure I count Mara)
  18. It does amuse me somewhat that clawing back some of his £160m outlay on players (several of whom haven't been good enough) and moving on some of the pre-existing players (who were also not good enough collectively) is somehow inappropriate of Solak or a stick to beat him with.
  19. I think I read in The Times that the purchasing loan was £110m alone and then that was topped up with other funds - but I could be wrong. But even still...!
  20. Yes, a Serbian billionaire bought a football club for £180m, with a £80m covid debt already on it, pumped in a further £160m on player acquisition in his first full year of ownership and then got relegated and lost £200m in revenue - and it's solely been to boost his bank balance. Stacks up.
  21. He's still relatively young at 24, so I very much doubt that comes into it.
