I bought basically the same thing 20 years ago. Also limitted edition. I'm spending that money on the kids this time.

I didn't really care about football when I was little. Dad made an effort to try but it took a fair old while. The first match I went to was while we lived in Kent. The 1994 Kent cup final between Margate and Dover Athletic. It went to extra time, 0-0...... Margate won it very late. Dad worked with the club secretary at Margate, so we followed them closely together through my teens, that grew my love of football if not Saints. We moved to Hampshire in the winter of 1994. First Saints game was v Leeds at the Dell in 1995, end of the School Holidays. Finished 1-1. Sat in a restricted view seat in the West Stand. Loved the atmosphere, but the pillar in the way meant I missed the goal. It took Euro 96 to really kick things off. The positivity from everyone towards the tournament and the England side swept me up. From there, the more I cared, followed. Keeping an eye on Saints whilst watching non-league with Dad every other weekend. It took getting my own job at 16 and going to 6th form to get me attending in my own right and enjoying things. Once at University, I was the Southampton fan......... It was part of my identity by then. It just spured me on further, past us getting to the cup final in my first year in the West Midlands before getting my first season ticket in 04/05. Driving down to each game. In the throes of family and other commitments now. But I will regularly attend again! Keeping a mostly watching brief for now.
