I take back my last comment on this thread. We are a gift to the league .....in terms of entertainment 😂

Every team that has been dreadful, out of form or has an injury crisis has been over joyed to see us rock up at their ground this season. We are a gift to the league Blackburn Norwich Millwall Oxford Leicester
-
The only way we get out of this league in the coming seasons is via the trap door.
-
Good news though, Boro have lost their last 4 games and haven't scored in any of them. Only right we go there and lose 4-0 to give them a boost perhaps!

Settling in for another 45 mins of total football. "Manning, back to Stephens, who plays in back to Bazunu, to Manning, back to Stephens, who plays it back to Bazunu" Repeat 20+ times

That's going down as a shot at goal 😂!

The last 2 games I've watched live in the flesh have been Blackburn and today, so I'm beginning to think I'm a bit of a curse. A few points I took on board from today... (sorry I haven't read back so I'm sure a lot may have been repeated) Without a genuine winger on that right hand side, Leo has to to do so much of the work on his own on the left! It's as if the defence didn't want to pass the ball to Fraser as they knew he'd just pass the ball straight back to them, thus killing any forward momentum down one side of the pitch! So for however many minutes Ryan Fraser was on the pitch (60 odd) we effectively only had 1 route of attack down the left. Norwich when they did attack played "old school" get the ball in the box early from crosses football and our defence just allowed that to happen! Both their first and second goals came from not shutting down the cross. Honestly I could have banged balls into the box the amount of "pressure" Manning and Wood put on their wingers today. Pathetic! Final point before I order my Chinese takeaway. Why the f*ck did we spend about what was the combined total of 10/15 minutes passing the ball amongst the back 3 and the goal keeper when we were 2-1 down! I know it may be seen as a bit basic, but why the hell didn't we knock long balls into AA or Robinson when he came on, on the right, get the Norwich defenders turning having to chase the ball under pressure. We played like we were 4 nil up in that 2nd half and honestly it was baffling/infuriating. Norwich must have come away from that game laughing at the fact their defenders had nothing to do in the whole 2nd half, whilst watching our lot knocking it about like we'd won the game! This league is a basket case this season, and other than maybe Coventry, promotion is up for anyone's taking, but games like that remind me why we certainly don't have a devine right to be one of those sides!

Perhaps defending set pieces/ corners should be high in the training agenda for the remainder of the week. It's quite frankly ridiculous that we appear to be hanging on this 2nd half!
-
You'd hope that it's job done. But not really sure why we have come out so flat this second half. Come out all guns blazing, go score 4 or 5, really send a statement! This squad is more than capable of that!

Can we have a half time camera in the Charlton dressing room at half time 😂

What.A.Start. Like watching a completely different team!

A win is a win. And by God we needed those 3 points! Some of those players that are out there are "running" around with seemingly not a care in the world. No pressing from the forwards, who then retreat into the mass of disorganised players on the edge of the box, almost physically trying to hide in the crowd! Then when the ball gets cleared they amble to close the opposition down, who then proceed to continue to hump balls into the area. It really is Sunday league stuff at times. I could go on but just like some of the players on the pitch I can't be bothered. Glad Leo got his goal though, he really is the one only shining light at the moment, so it's fitting he got the goal to secure the much needed 3 points! At least he looks like he gives a f*ck.

I don't think Downs has run fast enough to register on the heat map! He'd struggle to run a sub 40 minute park run, and would fall over 4 times around the course! Utter cart horse.

It's hit him a few times. "Touch" is pushing it.

A decent run out in the end! 3-0 away from home, should hopefully put us on track to go to Watford and get a positive result. You'd rather be in our shoes today than in Norwich's. As others have said the first half lacked any real tempo. Playing the ball down the wing with no real cutting edge, getting to a certain point, spinning round and passing it back to the CM/CB. All very tedious stuff! The goal helped on the stroke of half time, and to be fair to W.S whatever he said at half time worked. Much higher tempo, players closing down in groups, the gap between the midfield and the front line a lot closer, sharper passing from back to the front. The second goal even came from an "old school" ball down the channel and over the top of the defender, in behind! It was almost refreshing to see! Defenses don't set up for those kind of things anymore. They just seem to expect the same old tippy tappy sh*te in the final third. Dare I say that in previous seasons that Matsuki (or an other player in his position) collects that ball in the middle, and instead of driving on and scoring a rocket from 30 yards, spins and passes it back or sideways to continue the slow boring build up. I'm not jumping up and down saying we are transformed and that we will go on and piss the league after one result against a weakened Norwich side, but I do think there were plenty of positives to take going forward. At least it looks like Will Still is willing to switch things up and correct things in the course of a half time rather than half a season! Onwards and upwards.
