  1. Great result,beating some major teams there. Well done lads and well done to whoever got us invited there with the big guns. The signs look for the future, with a trophy winning mentality starting young.

  2. Excellent post.

    i fear for the future of the country, there will be ethnic cleansing like in Zim and a lot of the white south africans will head to places like Oz and NZ i reckon.

    Ethnic cleansing - ffs?

    had a business meeting with a couple of lads 5 years ago who had fled after their parents were killed in Zim , blacks "reclaimed the land" in the areaand they were warned they would be killed if they didnt leave. Zimbabwe is now devastated and the same thing could happen in parts of SA

    Yeah, that's not ethnic cleansing. I think you've got confused.

    On a slightly different note. I was at a meeting yesterday and a manager who was of asian background called me an outsider

    not once but twice during a couple of occassionas in front of other managers. should have seen the look on some of their faces.

    I just ignored and took it in the context and the way the individual expressed themselves ibut had it have been the other way round. you know who would be in trouble today.

    Maybe you are an outsider? Maybe the fact that you don't understand why you're being referred to as an outsider is an indication that you are an outsider? Maybe they all live in the area in which the meeting was held and you don't, thus making you the outsider? Maybe they are all employed as managers and you're not, making you the outsider? Maybe they all went to University and you didn't, making you the outsider? Maybe they were all Pompey fans and you were the sole Saint? You need to establish what they all had in common and what made you different. You've made some assumptions that I don't think are justified.

  3. Is there a country in the world you have not worked in?

    Is there any thread that you haven't posted your inane drivel on?

    Surely.

    He felt there was a need for white Afrikaaners to violently defend their homes and way of life, to the point of pre-emptive action. Not interested or in agreement with all the racial b*ll*cks he spouted.

    No doubt you will try to infer a racist message behind my comment.

    It's not hard to start inferring messages from a post that says "maybe Terrablanche had a point" when you don't explain what you mean. Now, having explained what you meant, it seems you are agreeing with him for saying that the whites needed to take pre-emptive strikes against the blacks in order to protect their "way of life" (which, let us be clear, is founded upon a racist system and involved years of bloody oppression).

    South Africa is a sad country but wholly predictable in that simply getting rid of apartheid was obviously not going to change a huge amount as all of the power and money lies in the hands of the whites. People can have the right to vote, but does that actually make any difference - I don't believe thats where the power lies. The violence that we see now in South Africa is also wholly predictable -years of endless violence and oppression followed by no improvement to living standards or any real hope after the handover of power, coupled with a lack of education leads people to this sort of behaviour. Where violence is the norm, it will continue unabated until significant changes are made and the cycle is broken. The most startling fact I know about South Africa is that black girls are more likely to be raped than learn to read and write.

    And on a slightly different note, the pap/verbal spat is getting a little tiresome now. Not every thread needs you to goad each other constantly. You're both intelligent posters with interesting things to say, not sure why there is so much animosity, but you're beginning to turn each lounge thread into the same bullsh*t we read across the rest of the forum where the same usual suspects just prod and provoke for no reason (and please ignore my prodding of delldays, above, he's a different case who deserves it)

  4. those who "get it" understand that football is not just a game. Its not just about going to a match to follow and support a team. Its about kicking off, shaking fences, getting banned from stadiums and being a hooligan. Its about not dressing up in replica kits. Its about being able to abuse people in the name of banter.

  5. Here are three aspects that tell part of the story:

    1) the scapegoat factor - bullying behaviour intensifies when people smell blood;

    2) the xenophobic factor - you might blame Fawlty Towers for this one!;

    3) the tribal factor - some posters seemed to dislike his perceived presumptuousness (his "foreign" intensity and serious passion for the club ran counter to their banter-based, clannish insularity).

    As I say, that's only part of the story, but - as another "outsider" - that seemed to me to underpin some of the negativity.

    A typical post from someone who doesn't live here anymore. You've become a little TOO Canadian, HS. There's a group of us who think its time you and take your unpopular views and move on.

  6. Its not all that difficult as long as you're will to make a few sacrifices. I wouldn't worry too much about going on a specific diet. You know what you should and shouldn't be eating, cut out the crap and exchange it with fruit and veg.

    Also exercise will help you lose weight much quicker than simply dieting. I do a few boxing/thai boxing classes a week and try to swing a kettlebell at least 5 times a week. I also do a parkrun (http://www.parkrun.org.uk) on a Saturday morning (5k run) which gives me something to work towards, helps to keep the interest up. I also hear that squash gives you a really good workout, but its not for me...

    Hi Junction9. Not seen you about on here for a while. How you doing? You still fixing dishwashers? I might have some work for you. Give me a call or PM.

  7. Agree with this, I was trying to get a loan to start up my own business a few months back and all my "mates" took the p*ss, saying the idea was ludicrous and would never happen. The apathy I felt after being slated probably led to me missing the opportunity because the property I was eyeing up had been sold by the time I got round to it.

    agree with this. Not only do we lack the "can do" attitude, we are quick to blame others for our own failings.

  8. going to West Ham, don't know where they scrape up this crap. Anyway, bloke's got a string of motoring offences behind him

    and looks like a bit of a knob so definitely someone we can do without on a moral basis at least.

    I've got to agree. The last thing we need is a player with motoring convictions.

  9. Ferraris don't last for Ever...

    [video=youtube_share;rtF3vvdI9zY]http://youtu.be/rtF3vvdI9zY

    The bloke speaking over that video sounds like a right simpleton. Why is he speaking like that?

    I like the colleague of his who says Banega did the right thing by getting out the car. Incredible quick thinking. Most other players would have just sat in it and burned to death.

  10. I think we need a list of who's a c*nt and who's a d!ck. I see myself as more of an @rsehole.

    You're in the unique position of being a c*nt, d*ck and @rsehole all at the same time. And probably a sh*thead as well.

  11. You're presenting the exception as the norm. If you're a d!ck to people in real life, you can expect some comeback. I speak from experience on this one, as a hopefully reformed former real-life d!ck. I have the occasional relapse, but I'm learning. You know what's worse than the self-aware d!ck? The d!ck who doesn't know he's a d!ck. Gemmel doesn't know he's a d!ck. This thread proves he is.You don't know you're a d!ck. Everybody else does. (someone correct me if I'm committing the cardinal sin of speaking for the entire forum without justification).Verbal certainly doesn't know he's a d!ck. The thought has never even entered his head. Me? D!ck? Impossible! It just doesn't compute.tbf to buctootim, I think he knows he's a bit of a d!ck, even though he denies it outwardly.As for myself, one of the funniest things I ever read on here was from returned ursine brother Bearsy, when in a debate about individual characteristics, he pointed out that "no, you is more d!ck than c**t, pap". I have never argued the point, and never will. I can cope with being a d!ck, Hypo. I can even cope with admitting that and people knowing my real name. Everyone can be a bit of a d!ck sometimes and admit it. It's having to fess up that you're a full-time c**t that's the problem.
    So, in summary, Hypo is a c*nt - is that what you're saying? To be fair to Hypo, if I was a big a tit as he is, I wouldn't want people knowing who I am. It's one thing making outlandish statements about conspiracy theories, it's another to invent a girlfriend who posts on here whilst you're banned (hello Hypo!). Sometimes even having a special internet username that can hide how much a c*nt you are is not enough and you have to change that as well (hello Batman!). Imagine being such a c*nt that even your anonymous usernames reputation is so tarnished by tw*ttishness that it has to be changed (hello David Benson Phillips!).Anyway, let's not all fall out and be nasty to each other. Each to their own, it's just the internet and we are mere specks of dust floating through time.
  12. You're right of course. I suppose there are three reasons for persisting:

    I'm offended by the casually libellous trashing of a long-established professional news organisation by a z-grade conspiracist theorist.

    I'm offended by the unbelievable narcissism of conspiracy theorists in general, who get their happy endings by denying the reality of the death and maiming of others in public tragedies, and who act as useful idiots distracting attention away from the real, actual crimes and misdemeanours of those in authority.

    I'm assembling material for a film. Guess what it's about?

    Is it an incredibly long documentary about arguing with people on the internet?

  13. How embarrassing. I'm fully ashamed of the "fans" who got us this award. Bloody shutters, clapping and singing and basically carry on like homosexuals. What happened to a bit of harmless racist chanting and pre/mid/post match mindless violence? People need to man up. If this sort of thing carries on there'll be no one left at games other than bloody women!
