Probably a very simplistic view, but if by some miracle selling Dibling to keep Ramsdale and Ferndades was the plan, then that would be terrific. Not that I ever expect it to happen.

Not even that fussed about Ramsdale, keeping Fernandes should be the number one priority.

Don't agree with this at all. They are all reasonable to very good players at EFL level but v few - if any - are the type of wingers our system needs. Possibly Robinson - but obviously very little to go on. Maybe Edozie - but final product is weak. Armstrong and Diaz are more like forwards who can play on the wing and cut in. Dibling hasn't quite found his position yet - but is obviously (a) an exciting prospect and (b) could leave.

I think Still is looking for wingers who can beat a man wide down the flank and then cut the ball into the box. For all their strengths, that's not the go-to skill of any of this lot.

Didn't Edozie have 6 goals for us in the Championship last time, before bizarrely being frozen out? I think he will be a goal threat for us this year.

To make them run 9km then play a match the next day is showing he wants Strachan type levels of fitness.

I like that, so far impressed by him.

Absolutely. Peak fitness is the bare minimum you should expect for a professional footballer to be honest, it shouldn't gain you any advantage because everyone should be at that level. Thankfully they're not.

Whilst the penalties against Sweden were pathetic(except for the 3 that we scored) you have to admire the grit of Lucy Bronze, with her John Terry like putting her head where it hurts, and the decent crosses Chloe Kelly put in. As for Lauren James OMG so overrated

Kelly is a proper old fashioned winger which has sadly died out in the mens game. Crosses like that are a joy to watch.

It was funny when she got the ball in the centre circle in the second half and the commentator said “this is where the magic happens”

she then booted the ball about 20 yards over and wide of the winger and went out for a throw in

That says more about the idiocy of Robyn Cowan than anything about Lauren James. Utterly abysmal commentator.

Our keeper seems like an absolute liability. Just doesn’t seem to have any sort of awareness of where she is.

Earps was a much bigger advantage for England than people realise. Head and shoulders above anyone else in the women's game. All our options now are all falling into the similar trap as most nations keepers, being far too small to be effective. She's got good reflexes and is quick out when the ball is on the ground, but she needs to be told to stay on her line when crosses come in to a busy box.

i think you’ll find much of the posts have been serious

or so you just mean everyone’s on about how great it is?

Fair point, should have said no posts containing sly digs.

Hopefully Alfie can ask specific questions when the Girona trip happens.  I’m not sure who’s buying THB at the moment. Burnley?

If he's injured till the start of the season then the only club stupid enough to sign him already own him.

God I really hope a few of you don’t have daughters 🤣 ‘enjoy your sport but just remember the boys are better at it so don’t get too ahead of yourself and definitely don’t try to promote it’

Seriously hope you're not referring to me, I've been a supporter of the women's game for longer than most and regularly tell people who come in here just to criticise to bore off, I just don't see the point in pretending it's something it's not. The overhyping and trying to make out it's the same level of quality as the men's actually ends up turning off a lot of people who would otherwise be more than willing to give it a go; like Turkish for example.

Exactly, my daughter got into football after the last Euros, I think it’s great that it is getting promoted so much.

Men are better at pretty much all sport but you don’t see female tennis players or athletes getting the same stick. Football has always had this weird macho thing attached to it.

The tennis discussion has gone quiet but when the prize money was equalised there was a lot of noise that the women should be playing best of 5 sets instead of 3 as they're now technically getting paid more for their time than the men.

A lot of the derision is self inflicted. If, as you say, they let people enjoy it for what it is then I’d expect it’d actually be more popular. A while back I saw a list of top England goalscorers with Ellen White in there somewhere between Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney, so it’s alright to do that but when it’s pointed out the low level of the women’s game compared to men’s you get accused of derision. In all other sports women’s and men’s versions of the game are kept separate but for some reason when it comes to football there is this desperation for it to be seen as equal and everyone should get on board with how great it is.

The comparison ridiculousness reached peak hilarity in the last womens Euros when it looked like Ellen White was going to end up with more goals than Kane or Rooney, whoever was top at the time. The broadcasters kept listing both the mens and womens top scorers together and talking about her becoming the all time top England goalscorer.

Then she never took the top spot, so they pivoted to calling her "all time England womens top scorer" and not listing the men anymore.

I do think the push you're describing to see them both as equal has died off a little the last couple of years. Womens football has never been more popular in this country and attendances still aren't any better than league one level, bar the top WSL sides and even then not regularly. And they can't blame men for it, there are more women than men in this country - so they're letting themselves down.

It’s usually ‘come on’ not ‘go on’. Did you worry how that might have been misinterpreted?

I type that one a lot too just usually into Google.

I guess THB being the most experienced of those at 23 is why we need JS

Experience of not being good enough isn't experience I want.

We get it wrong more than we get it right most of the time. But I just don’t see this as a surprise (he was kit launch model!) or a massive gamble. I think it’s a. Eminently sensible move, and said as soon as the season ended that I would do the same.

Everyone can have opinions, but the disrespect for him on here, given who he is and how he feels about the club is what irks and depresses me. If we’d offered Sulemana a 3 year deal I’d be apoplectic, but not Jack.

Come on mate. A one year extension sure. A three year extension is either an acceptance we aren't going up soon or a worrying sign that we still think he's capable at Prem level.

I think you're in for a shock mate, I reckon he'd be getting closer to £100,000 a week at this point than you realise.

Oh, maybe not much of a surprise then.

Guessing you know the terms he’s on?

Jack is no Carrillo, and won’t be in anywhere near his money.

If we go up, I suspect he’ll move on. If we don’t, who knows.

The dissing of a great club servant (not from you btw) is quite depressing tbh.

Have the England game on. Feck me this is crap. I reckon saints if around the end of Juric’s time would have thrashed these.

You're probably right, a lot of men's professional teams and a few amateur teams would win.

Now we've got that out the way, either continue to watch it knowing what it is or just don't bother, thanks.

Two really good goals for England, they look much better playing (shock) a natural CB at CB and a left footed player at LB.

Says a lot about the player, who has been a very loyal servant that i'm dissapointed he has signed a new contract.

Sad isn't it really. I also feel bad for him looking at the reaction from the fans all over social media, can't be nice for him or his family but...it isn't unexpected.

Would be a very good number if Stewart/Archer chip in as much as they should.

Yeah my post isn't meant as a criticism. I get the sense from Still that his style of play doesn't rely on a main man and we should see goals from all over the forward line and midfield.
