IF Adidas make the Ajax kit, and having just come back from Amsterdam.
Why can we not get THAT kit for next year with the Red & White simply reversed?
It can't be rocket science surely?

They are sidenotes and distractions, the issue is a Country has been occupied against its will and being chopped up before our very eyes and it shall be a sacrificial lamb to keep the peace, this has happened before.
True that.
Panama, Grenada, Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam.
The issue is not simply that Ukraine has been "Invaded" it is the fact that a set of circumstances that could have been foreseen caused the opportunity for it to be invaded.
I have no idea how the luvvies on the Beeb reported the "Glorious Revolution" but some of the non-politicised press around the world did point out that a number of unlikely bed fellows had come together. The EU at the very least encouraged the "Coup" and may have even helped fund it. The vacuum once it happened was a lesson that SHOULD have been learnt from Iraq - it took too long to get the Emergency Government together and gave Russia the opportunity.
History shows that your view of Black & White Opinions is always wrong. History is always grey and full of stupid decisions and arrogant idiots who then run away and hide.
Merkel et al are as much to blame for the invasion as Putin is. FFS every other commentator on the planet saw this coming why didn't they?
-
Thing is Barry, conceptually, what the Russians are doing is right. Defending Russian speakers and their Military bases from an unknown threat. Morally & legally it is a crock of sh1t of course, this makes it much harder for Rhetoric and Spin to work against it.
In some ways it is possible that the much hated Globalisation will be the thing that stops this escalating into WW3.Let's face it, London would be bankrupt if all the Oligarchs pulled out over night & the EU recovery would fizzle out if Germany had to start paying double for it's energy prices.
All Politicians are corrupt, they took the Roubles The Riyalls or whatever and now find themselves looking stupid.
Also, let us not forget that the Revolution was instigated by many factions coming together in opposition. A core element were in simple terms Fascists. The new Ukraine Government took a few hours too long to reclaim control. THEY opened the door to this. The West simply helped them find a handle.
Listening to Hague condeming an unpopular invasion brought back so many images of the build up bullsh1t to the invasion of Iraq.
The world is a goddam mess

Kate Nash is still a weird crush of mine. I curse whichever of the Jarman brothers it is that got to marry her (Ryan?).
I see a whole new dating chapter on TMS coming on.
But Glasto is now getting real. Delivered some kit to my mate in the UK at the weekend, gave him the cash for the tickets, checked out the tent & bedding, pre-planned what Duty Frees we need (they sell Spirits in Plastic bottles here in Dubai Duty Free - always handy for a late night pre-pass out shot). Flights are booked back from part one of our Summer Hols (Provence in a Tent then Glasto) so starting to get pumped already and still LOADS of bands to confirm
-
I reckon she'll have a few friends make an appearance to be honest.
I dunno, this is what I love about Glasto/Festivals - seeing acts I would never see otherwise. Some of the best times I've had at festivals have been acts like this I had no intention of seeing/got dragged along to and ended up loving. Eddy Grant (Glasto '08?) being a prime example - one of the most fun hours I've ever had.
Got all muddled up and dragged myself along to see JayZee early arrival sat by the Cider Bus and heard the sounds wafting from the Pyramid of Leonard Cohen who had been on my avoid at all costs list. Loved BOTH concerts.
We all know Dolly will be mass karaoke sing-along just like a Tony Christie Tom Jones or Neil Diamond moment. Then we can womble around and find some real music.
After my quick trip back home on Saturday I would LOVE for The Beat to find a quiet corner for a 45 minute set. They played around a 90 minute gig and their music is still as good today as the rest of the Ska Legends, place went absolutely nuts.
(But then it was Salisbury City Hall and a big night out for them is watching The Zucchinis play.
Hope Kate Nash gets a slot. Met my Niece yesterday at a family dinner and her career has gone mental now she is in her band - would love to see her play live

Your google broken Barry?
According to Gazprom the UK imported 8.16 billion barrels in 2011. This would make Russia the third largest source of natural gas imports after Norway and Qatar.
The rest you can look up yourself.
Hmm perhaps the 2018 World Cup will get moved after all..
To Norway
This has to be the strangest thread outside of PTS in the history of the Lounge.
Toke's & Bearsy debating sensible stuff sensibly.
I'm off back to Amsterdam, too bloody weird here for a first day back

Clearly you lot bloody started this.
Allowing Clarkson & his mates to invade Crimea a couple of weeks ago would be enough to provoke anyone.
Difficult one overall though, yes Crimea was given to Ukraine back in '54 and has a majority of ethnic Russians. Of course that was only possible because of the ethnic cleansing of the Tartars.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crimean_Tatars
Soviet policies on the peninsula led to widespread starvation in 1921.[citation needed] Food was confiscated for shipment to central Russia, while more than 100,000 Tatars starved to death, and tens of thousands fled to Turkey or Romania.[28] Thousands more were deported or slaughtered during the collectivization in 1928–29.[28] The government campaign led to another famine in 1931–33. No other Soviet nationality suffered the decline imposed on the Crimean Tatars; between 1917 and 1933 half the Crimean Tatar population had been killed or deported.[28]
During World War II, the entire Crimean Tatar population in Crimea fell victim to Soviet policies. Although a great number of Crimean Tatar men served in the Red Army and took part in the partisan movement in Crimea during the war, the existence of the Tatar Legion in the Nazi army and the collaboration of Crimean Tatar religious and political leaders with Hitler during the German occupation of Crimea provided the Soviets with a pretext for accusing the whole Crimean Tatar population of being Nazi collaborators. Modern researchers also point to the fact that a further reason was the geopolitical position of Crimea where Crimean Tatars were perceived as a threat.[29] This belief is based in part on an analogy with numerous other cases of deportations of non-Russians from boundary territories (see, e.g., Involuntary settlements in the Soviet Union), as well as the fact that other non-Russian populations, such as Greeks, Armenians and Bulgarians were also removed from Crimea.[citation needed]
All Crimean Tatars were deported en masse, in a form of collective punishment, on 18 May 1944 as "special settlers" to Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic and other distant parts of the Soviet Union.[30] The decree "On Crimean Tatars" describes the resettlement as a very humane procedure. The reality described by the victims in their memoirs was different. 46.3% of the resettled population died of diseases and malnutrition.[citation needed] This event is called Sürgün in the Crimean Tatar language. Many of them were re-located to toil as indentured workers in the Soviet GULAG system.[31]
Needs some very calm heads and avoidance of soundbites - THAT is gonna be hard for UK Politicos.
Oh and Goddamit, Alpine was right.
He HAS been going on and on and on about Defence Reviews, where are all our Tanks these days?

Meh, it's his own fault. He should have taken more of an interest in Golf

I think also no club has lost more points from a winning position.
We need to work on our finishing to start earning the points our excellent football warrants.
What we clearly could do with is someone who understands the Psychological side of sport, that can instil a winning mentality, get the players to take more ownership, more mental toughness (especially in front of goal).
Someone who really understands that Sport at an elite level is more than simply running around in little patterns and being skillful.
If only we knew where to find a World Class Expert in that type of stuff..........
Oh
-
So,
No experience of any sport = good
Experience in another sport = bad
Is it just me, or perhaps maybe an individual might be good or bad regardless?
Just remind me, how many medals did Team GB win in 2012 with SCW running the high end elite performance division?

Oops sorry I meant "It's not like I have never heard..."
but still looking forward to the next episode

Jesus christ a thread with GM and DP.....
Nope I am all ears.
I have never heard a tale of someone being screwed by an American Corporate or finding an untrustworthy S.W Asian.
Looking forward to the next installment. This is GM's gig. I respect that.

OK thanks. I'm getting conflicting advice. Some say you need to "register" your decoder, and others say you need to get a new one. I'll wait until after 1st March and see what happens.
Thanks.
Everything I have heard is that you need a new dedicated BeIN decoder.
Pal of mine just had to pay $180 to get newbox installed as they STOPPED supplying the Cards & de-activated old ones.

I see nothing in his words except Wisdom & Encouragement for a long term future
Krueger insisted here yesterday: ‘It’s a question of continuing to grow what’s already there, it’s not about rebuilding anything. I have met the coaching staff and Mauricio Pochettino and spoke to the team. I know exactly what he needs - and I know exactly what he doesn’t need.
‘He doesn’t need someone getting involved in a day to day running of the team. He needs space to do his work, so that he can continue to grow the group. I get it, I totally get it. I feel the values that drive him.’...............
Everything needs to happen naturally. There need be no rush on either side. Pochettino needs to focus on all the important games coming up and I need to make space for him to do his work. He’s a very honest, strong personality with strong values. He should feel comfortable...............
Liebherr, who inherited Southampton after her father, Markus, died in 2010, is determined to place her mark on the club. ‘We’ve done everything very slowly and methodically, which is the way Katharina likes to do things,’ said Krueger.
‘They don’t need sudden changes of direction right now. My strengths are sport-specific on the hockey team-building side, but other strengths are on the leadership side. We need to take the whole leadership side to a different level.’
