Christ! My irony was obviously lost on you lot on this one. I was referring to this comedy thread of several weeks back...

Oh and anyone still using Internet Explorer should hang their head in shame...
Especially you Steve...you should know better being in IT...
Yes - everyone should be using something ****e like Firefox or Chrome.

Strachan would only be a good choice if he really, really wanted to do it for the craic and challenge - not because we offered him a shed load of money and were an easy choice being "just up the road".
-
Unforunately few of the rest of the players bothered to turn up for Wotte.
His departure had to be.
I don't disagree - its just that there are ways of letting people go gently.

I will be very worried if Oldknow is tapped into certain posters veiws on this site .
If hes paying specific attention to Stanley or what ever the jerk calls himself
and Alpine , then we are in for a rough ride.
After the Annoucement on wednesday about the takeover, I really thought
the spirit of Southampton had returned so how come lastnight I feel very deflated following the dismissal of Wotte, maybe it is the vicious comments some fans are already making about wotte and co.
The attacks on Wotte after he had gone were pathetic and a symptom of a lack of soul amongst a small minority (thankfully) of Saints fans. He did his best at a very difficult time with very few resources and was clearly a man Kelvin and JP Saeis were happy to play for. Fortunately many people, even those who didnt want him as manager were gracious enough to say 'thanks'. My sense is that those who put the boot in are often those who have achieved little in their own lives.

Markus buying his own season ticket makes me feel a bit uneasy somehow watching Ashley at Newcastle but I am probably over reacting.
Why?It's just a gesture to show that he cares and i really appreciate that. Doing something like that wouldn't have happened in a million years with Lowe because SFC was just a piggy bank for him.
It is a little bit cheesy but I think it is also an important signal to the staff, players and fans that whilst he will support the development of the club everyone needs to do their bit and not just rely on being kept afloat by the Bank of Markus.

Perhaps lallanas people complained that Wotte had bene indiscreet in saying that he wouldnt play and so the new owners were not happy. The statement would make the value of the player decrease
Pssst. Theres not a Machiavellian plot behind everything.

MW appreciation thread? Could be the shortest thread in history. Good riddens!
Not the place for that. And by the way it's 'riddance' thickie.

Thanks Mark. Would have liked to see you given the chance to make a fairytale transformation from crowd villain to hero with money behind you. Best of luck.

Doesnt want to sit in the director's box, will buy his own season ticket and expects staff to do the same.

I think it could be a surprise addition to the squad someone who we never thought would come to Southampton.
Is it Pol Pot?

Help, trying to think of a way out of going to a wedding that day.
Tell you've been unfaithful and never loved her anyway.

Apologies is the title is somewhat mis-leading but who thinks that following the takeover some players that wanted out will now stay and be part of the revolution.
Players in my mind are people like Rasiak, Saga, BWP or Adam.
They seemed to be pushing to leave when we were in the mire but now were not would you expect them to want to stay.
This also begs the question would we want them, especially if their motives are not correct, i.e. not that they have the club to their hear (like our Kelvin) but are fueled by money and the guarantee that their already inflated wages will continue to be paid (and not cut which would have been likely had they moved on).
Commitment to the cause is the very least you need besides skill and ability. I think at least three of those are lacking in one or more departments

Apologies if this has already been posted, but a Swiss colleague sent me this link:
http://www.blick.ch/sport/fussball/international/ein-schnaeppchen-123211
Mostly all things we've heard before, but a couple of quotes which were new to me. Roughly translated:
Liebherr does not want to reveal the purchase price, however, speaks of a "modest financial commitment."
As to the question, why Liebherr did not decide to get involved with a Swiss club instead: "I'm not a football expert, but this project seemed very appealing." And further: "It was a unique opportunity. I had to decide quickly. "
bit more here
Today that becomes deal officially. In relation to VIEW Markus dear gentleman (61) says, it wants Southampton on a long-term basis “back to the point to lead”. The association had descended end of the last season into the third league, after the owners had to announce insolvency. Although the FC Southampton except a Company-Cup (1: the association won, can 0, 1976 against ManU) no national title on faithful followers count. Markus dear gentleman is one of five children of the German entrepreneur Hans dear gentleman. 2008 obtained the exempt private company of the same name 8.4 billion franc conversion. In the year 2000 Markus dear gentleman created Mali holding with seat in Fribourg, which specialized in injection and propulsion technology. The new owner of club is an uncle of the jumping horsewoman Christina dear gentleman. The exempt private company gesponsert in the past among other things the soccer players of Graz. Dear gentleman wants to express himself not to the purchase price, speaks however of a “modest capital commitment”. In view of the real estate, which Southampton possesses, it was actually “an good deal”. The club has a modern stadium, good training possibilities and a first-class new generation department. It is guessed/advised without own being to blame for into the misery: “There were too many groups, among themselves fought each other.” Only the question arises, why dear gentleman does not engage himself with a Swiss club. “I am not a football specialist, but this commitment appeared to me very delightfully.” And further: “It was a unique opportunity. I had to decide rapidly.”

Good job someone estimated his personal fortune at €3b then. Is there anybody confident of where that figure has come from.
My job involves knowing how much wealthy people are worth - and Ive no idea! Very little information is available about ML. I imagine the £2.5bn is probably made up / wild guesstimate.

Anybody know if and where I can buy today's in the Basingstoke area? as I really want to read the interview with Nicola Cortese
Dunno for sure but train stations are usually a good bet for getting 'out of town' papers.

Its time to move our focus away from the board room and inner mechanics of the club back on to team, tactics and pies.
Even when you work for a firm and deal with people every day different staff will have diffrent views of managers and directors. Fury or lavish praise over every internal appointment by posters who know relatively nothing about the skills and personalities involved is not only unhelpful, its ill informed.
-
I'd like to know Nicola Cortese's shoe size and how he met his first girlfriend. Perhaps you could ask Oldknow after you've stalked and polygraphed him.

Don't Leibherr make fridges amongst other things?
I think calling him our "fridge magnate" would be pretty apt.
Well done. Theres no catching you napping
-
I'm going for 'Saints Fridge Magnate'

I'm not sure if they are one of the same, but;
1) FL withdrawing us from league one
2) Disappearing completely / Winding the club up
I can't help but think we weren't a million miles off with the first one. Knowing we wouldn't beable to trade for too much longer and the time it takes to get these things done (Even when rushed through) The FL must have started to put in place some sort of contingency plan of withdrawing us from the league. As for going bust completely, even if we were wound up, we have come back in some guise, Blue square, or whatever.... it probably would have never been the same and i guess it's all irrelevant now, but would be interesting to know, just how close we really came.
Dont know about 1 but pretty damn close to 2. The break up value was far more than most could afford to pay. We nearly got put in the blender.

Also, Davis is a confidence player big time.... it took him 2 years to recover from his Sunderland nightmare. In those 2 years he was ****e for us. I don't think he's the sort to be able to maintain top form playing once a fortnight in front of 3 men and a dog.
Very true
-
I think that's clear cut for most football players.
Usually - but if his mortgage is paid off, he's got £1m+ in the bank and his kids dont want private school - who knows.
