  1. Cheers Sister! I'll get to work on a 5 year plan....everyone needs a five year plan.
  2. I'm not a tree hugger, I'm a commie. Can Commies join?
  3. Finish on 23rd and back on the 5th Jan. Have to use 4 days leave for that though.
  4. This is the best way and sensible way to do it. Incidentally when's the best day to take a sickie? You'll need to consider it's got to be at least 3 days duration to make it worthwhile and realistic. Monday is too obvious despite the benefit of not looking like you're coming down with something on previous days. Personally I'm swayed by going off on Friday and then taking Monday and Tuesday off. Sick days that straddle a weekend have the bonus of being the best days of the week with new added authenticity!
  5. I don't expect a win every week but maybe a bit more than we're averaging at the moment! This season has been my worst for attendance for nearly twenty years (for a variety of reasons) but the two times I've been we've played well. We haven't won them though. I always used to say I'd rather see a good team play exciting football but lose than a boring team draw but there are limits. Anyway, honestly? No, none of the players that might return would tempt me back unless we start climbing the league a bit or more importantly scoring goals. I think I'd be happier if we lost 3-4 than what's happening at the moment. I wish I could remember the last time I saw a saints goal (actually I can, it was against Birmingham). That's my view from the armchair...cue the abuse!
  6. Since when has winning the majority vote bothered republicans? Wasn't much of an impediment in 2000 was it?
  7. I saw two shooting stars last night, I wished on them but they were only satellites, it's wrong to wish on space hardware...... Sorry couldn't resist.
  8. And branfoot had to be the only manager to be booed by his own fans before a cup final. ah the football was crap back then.....but at least we won some games.
  9. The BNP member down the end of my road is glad this debate has shifted to the use of the 'N' word instead. Incidentally he only uses it in an 'ironic sense' and believes that's OK, apparently his colleagues in the police agree with him.
  10. Ha ha, makes your heart bleed when poor old Raymondo can't afford to live in this country. Tell you what Ray, why not just **** off? The tax burden on the rich is less than the poor yet this over paid jumped up thesp thinks he's too good to pay tax? Constantly talking about working his ******** off doesn't help either - yeah being a 'one trick pony' actor must be sooo hard. Anyway these celebrities with an opinion never live up to their promises. I'm still waiting for Frank Bruno and Paul Daniels to leave us alone.
  11. That's a good article. Not sure about comparisons with MLT as I can't really recall seeing him (Cassono) play, and I don't think MLT would ever feign injury or refuse to play. The philosophy might be right though. It's refreshing to hear a footballer talk about enjoying the game even if, and maybe because, he doesn't push himself too hard. He comes across as pretty ordinary and the kind of bloke you could have a pint with. He's probably a throwback to a lot of the players around in the 70's and that's no bad thing. Sadly I can't really remember that era but it sounds a lot more fun than the robot footballers with zero personality and bank balances longer than telephone numbers that we get these days.
  12. Yes, Witter was below par in that fight (hadn't his Dad just been diagnosed with cancer?) but the light welter division doesn't have a huge amount of talent left. Unless he can persuade any of the welters to move down. Maybe a better move is to go for Manny regardless of the result against DLH, it could definitely be made at 140lb and financially would make sense for both and give them both a decent chance of winning too. Selling the fight won't be a problem either. Such a shame that Hatton can't cut it at 147 because there's still some cracking fights out there but what's the point? He's just not big enough to cope at that weight.
  13. Good showing by Hatton but very disappointed with Malignaggi. Outside of the first round he didn't show very much at all and his constant holding was frustrating. He seemed a shadow of the fighter who fought Cotto. The change of trainer seems to have been good for Hatton. I'm a bit worried that he's talking of moving up to welterweight again and I'm not sure it's a good move for him to fight De La Hoya (if DLH beats Manny). Personally I'd like to see Hatton have a shot at Timothy Bradley who looked good against Witter.
  14. I think Hatton will probably win this one on points. It's a tough one to call though and an in form Malignaggi could do to Hatton what Calzaghe did to Jeff Lacy. There's a lot of similarities to that fight. Hatton comes in straight lines and Malignaggi has the ability to outbox Hatton. That said Malignaggi, like Hatton, has not been impressive recently. Indeed since the Cotto fight he's been pretty disappointing. I'm not sure he can get the form of the Cotto fight back but if he can then he'll win. As for Calzaghe I'm not sure there's much out there for him now. If Pavilk had beaten Hopkins then yes but the manner of the defeat means it's unlikely. For Pavlik to win I think the fight would have to be down at super middleweight as well. After that I guess a rematch with Hopkins is the most realistic. However, JC was a bit lucky in the first fight and I think Hopkins would be much more dangerous this time around. The sensible thing for JC is to retire undefeated.
  15. Scientists discover something that was there all along. Doubt I'll sleep tonight now....
  16. I was away for the first part of the week so this is my first chance to actually listen to this. I thought it reasonably funny but probably a bit bad taste. IMO it's a complete over reaction led a by a media intent on proving they can incite moral outrage again.
  17. Naturally I guess I'd prefer 30,000 fans. However I don't really care what the footballers would prefer. I'm not staying away because of Lowe - I'm staying away because we're crap, the games are crap, we'll probably lose and it's too expensive. Lowe has said that football is a 'results led industry' and he's right. Until we stand a fair chance of competing better than we can at the moment then I'm not shelling out and wasting time on something I won't enjoy. Obviously this makes me a 'plastic' fan or a glory hunter which is fine and I can live with that.
  18. He's running out of conspiracy websites though isn't he? If he doesn't post a link to Obama being a facist, nazi, cross dressing, black/white/eskimo martian then it's going to be disappointing.
  19. Excellent point....what would Saint George make of that?
  20. But in a nation like the US (you know built on immigrants etc), the american dream etc then it seems anachronistic.
  21. On the flip side you're suggesting that there's never been a traitor against their country of birth? Saint George is going to bring up Bill Ayers!
  22. Are there rings around Uranus? Sorry, someone had to do it.
  23. The points I was making were that the claims probably won't stand up - it's a conspiracy theory for desperate republicans. After the fierce fought democratic battle with Hillary I'm fairly certain that if there were any truth in the allegations then it would have been proved then. In any case McCain was born in Panama wasn't he? Don't see you frothing at the mouth at that one. The second point was that it's a fairly trivial and discriminatory article - where he or anyone else is born is irrelevant. If it's OK for Arnie to be governer of California (what is it 7th largest economy in the world?) then why not president? The link with Ayers is tenuous and again smacks of desperation - they served on 2 charity boards together. A few republicans were also on those committees. Ayers also tried to raise some money for Obama. Who knows whether that was with Obama's consent? Does it matter? Ayers is a leading Chicago citizen and respected university professor - he's not cowering in a cave and plotting the destruction of the country. Obama isn't guilty by association. Anyway, Obama has been publicly supported by Ted Kennedy and he's a catholic. The head of the catholic church is the pope. The pope used to be in the Hitler Youth. Ergo Obama is a Nazi. That's the kind of twisted stupid logic you're using. It's lazy.
  24. I think they call it pocket money and not wages.
  25. Unfortunately Saint George I don't include you as being one of the more intelligent Americans. That link is a bit like clutching at straws...I'm willing to bet it won't hold up. The election would never have got this far if the allegations were true. One thing though...if all you've got is that Obama might not be a 'proper American' (just like you) then isn't that a bit discriminatory and against the 'American Dream'. Ironic that McCain lauds the ideal (you know anyone can make it blah blah blah) and holds up Joe the Plumber except of course anyone can 'make it to the top' unless you weren't born in the US. In the face of massive economic problems I'd have thought that not being born in the US would be a small and petty argument. Thankfully it's not a big deal except for Saint George.
