Ah yes Duricic. One of the loans Koeman bought, along with Eljero Elia that I thought were a bit of a disappointment in the end. Pretty much like most signings these days.

Would those two get a start for us now?

HT. 0-0. On another day they would be at least 2-0 down - Butland made two fantastic saves to keep them in it.

They've been second to everything and overrun in midfield every time Pana come forward. They are a mess defending corners and have only had one shot on target. This is against a side most of their fans were expecting them to comfortably roll over.

Fans already asking why they play it sideways when there is a forward pass on, and seem puzzled that the high-energy, aggressive, attacking football and high press they've been expecting is nowhere to be seen. Already questioning why players are being played out of position, why the full backs are so narrow and inverted, and whether this style of play will work against packed defences in the SPL.

To be fair to them, 22nd July is very early in the window to be having a tough competitive fixture, and I'm sure the team they start the season with will look quite different to the side they've got out tonight. It's also somehow still 0-0, so it's not beyond the realms that they could nick something. But it's not a very good start.

    They're being brave though, right?

    O.M.G.

Do you think we have chance of tempting him back for a season? He's someone I would be happy to have at the club, as a 'good bloke in the dressing room', and making a few cameos.

Train hard, fight easy was something of a motto for me in my younger days.

So good to see these comments from William Stilliam. I want to see my team compete: constantly. And to do that they need to Work Fucking Hard.

I'm getting a good feeling for this season.

From what Alfie House has said, sounds like we weren't great in the friendly and possibly because we are absolutely knackered after a 9k run yesterday and loads of hard work. Can I be the first to say excellent news!

And a bit of a 'fiery' game too I understand.

Good. A team that has trained hard, is tired from a long run, and is then together in something of a battle. Get some fitness and heart into them!

Good wages if true, three years of sunshine and can see KWP being curious about his surroundings.

Good luck to the lad, all the best.

Is this code for something I don't understand? E.g. pineapples and pampas grass?

Looking at Ramsdale, I find it difficult to believe that he would want to play for a bottom six Premier League club or sit on the bench for a top ten club. I can see nothing more soul destroying than to lose week in week out whilst picking the ball out of the net. Playing for England will get more competitive and playing for a poor team or on the bench will hardly help his cause. There may be an attraction of a good financial deal living where he's happy and hopefully playing for one of the top clubs.

It sounds like Dibling and his family are contented where he is but his management company wants to transfer him and make a killing. That could be resolved by the family in due course. Saints are right to demand an excessive fee.

As for THB and Fernandes, we really need to keep them both. Again excessive fees should be the asking price of any enquiry.

Ramsdale is interesting. Would picking the ball out of the net in a Prem relegation battle really make him more appealing for England than pushing for a top-spot in the Championship?

Wonder what his overseas options might be. Does that help an England call-up more?

    I've got a sneaky feeling he'll stay...

The halcyon days of our Aussie support...

Disclaimer:Born in England, but an Aussie international.

I wish a few more of our current squad showed the effort and PASSION this fella did.

  9. He's shit.

Very, very average at Championship level; woeful in the Prem.

Sums up the dismal state of our defensive options for the past few years. Really hoped we'd get rid this window.

    "Leadership"? Fuck off.

My feel is it's going to be 4-3-3 (based on our current squad)

DD and stewart will be the CF / hold up target man in that system. And we'll see some combination of archer / Armstrong / dibling, edozie etc as the wider forwards. DD has already shown he is very good as a deep lying forward with the ability to hold the ball and bring runners into play with damaging through balls etc.

Midfield 3 of Charles, Flynn, and Fernandes (cheat code activated - I can dream) 😝.

Suspect if Fernandes goes we'll buy another creative attacking mid.

I personally think we'll be leaving the strikers as they are once DD joins - probably see one or 2 heading out - Ballard and BBD maybe?

Yeah. Gut feel says we're done signing strikers after DD.

Move on BBD, and that's likely our 'roster'.

Should be strong enough... favourable comparison to last season in the Championship.

Looking forward to hearing Adam and Alfies interview with Dragan tomorrow 😊 In my opinion he has clearly got good intentions for the club and stepped in and made changes to the football structure side. He has invested a lot of money into the club.

SR get a lot of stick, and rightly so for some of the fuck-stoopid decisions they've made.

However, Dragan has stumped up some pretty considerable £££, WITHOUT being the one making the decisions and signing the cheques. He must be pissed off as fuck. I reckon he has something to prove.

And I think we'll see him improve things massively, without vaping, slender-jean wearers around the place.

Looking forward to hearing the interview.

Very useful post thanks. Not having seen him, I was wondering if Matsuki might be good enough to play next season and the fact he gets in the Japan national side perhaps suggest he is. Looking forward to seeing him.

Is it confirmed that Matsuki will be joining up with us next season?

Had an enjoyable few hours at St Mary's yesterday watching my grandson play in the Southampton Cup.

    It's a 2-day tournament featuring 123 children's teams in six age groups from 6 to 12.

The morning sessions start at 7.00 and run till about 14.00, and the afternoon sessions end at around 21.00. The pitch is divided into 4 mini-pitches and each game is 15 minutes.

Each team emerges from the players tunnel with their name being announced over the tannoy. All teams play at least 5 games so get 75 minutes on the pitch. They also get a tour of the dressing rooms and other facilities. The whole ground is open to parents etc and you can wander around the perimeter. Food and drink was available in the Northam concourse.

It was all very well organised with games on all 4 pitches starting at exactly the same time (using a clock on the big screens) and  then a 5-minute break for the changeover to the next game.

Although it was all qualified referees, it was interesting to see the different styles. Some just let them get on with it and only blew for obvious fouls, but others were blowing for the tiniest of infractions.

He loved it and can't wait to go back next year ( he also had his picture taken with Frannie Benali).

That sounds like a simply fantastic day out. Amazing experience for the youngsters.
