Insane signing! By signing a player with the ceiling and ability of Foo-kin Nowan, we're really showing everyone how our season is going to end up. Well done SR!

    Wasn't funny 8 years ago.

Like most fan favourites at southampton he is different from the norm and gives the fans something to believe in. However he needs minutes to get going I'm sure fans would have said the same about Matt le tiss in the early days if this level of social media were available. I see alot of potential but he needs a chance. I'm a huge fan and he's most kids favourite player. I'm not sure the club see beyond the potential value right now

I'm not going to argue with you for a second due to the 6ft 8" thing, but I also thought he was one of the very few that showed anything at all in the season we went down. He was sporadic with his ball possession, but so have many players been at his age. Some get there, some don't. He's one of them, where do you say stop. Other than that, great attitude, needs consistency, needs to fix his retainment of possession, one of those guys you really want to succeed because of his attitude.

I’ve been invited to a customer golf day on Jutland in August but I will likely decline as it’s a long drive I understand from Copenhagen but I’ll be over again in September or October on business. It is a great city with good people I enjoy my visits to there and Stockholm. I will also visit Malmo shortly where the swedes commute to Copenhagen from I understand

You have Royal golf course which is a 10 min metro/taxi from the city center (head for Bella Center). It will make you question whether you ever want to play the game again.

Is there a footballer called Zoolander?

Zoolander > Fashionista > Looks like a tit often > Tom Davies (cos it can't be Calvert-Lewin).

I'm off to buy a Saints sarong.

Remember when Boruc did a Cruyff turn in the penalty area away at Arsenal and gave it away? He got a bit of grief on his home debut but generally he was a very popular player. Most fans were disappointed when he left.

Niemi is regarded as out best keeper since Shilton despite having a howler in "that" game at Fratton Park, like you say the odd mistake here and there no problem, but when their blatantly not good enough it's no wonder people moan.

Steward’s inquiry. Shilton had a big name which I personally thought was undeserved but which I accept gave us something. Boruc, eccentric as he was sometimes was better keeper for us in my opinion.

Niemi - best we ever had

I think we should bring Paul Onuachu back into the fold. My FM game seems to rate him according to the glitch that just happened...

EDIT - the actual scorer of the hattrick was... Sekou Mara.

Good that the ref was happy to let it all slide.

  7. I don't want AL back. If I thought he was going to add something significant I might but he's using us to end his career based on his past with us and I don't think the attitude with which he left us warrants that. Still, if he has signed, which it looks like he has, then I'll chuck all that out the window and support him.

I’m more worried that Chelsea will throw £25m at us for KWP and he’s gone fast as you can say “we are stuffed at FB now”.

You're KWP. You know you're up against Reece James, Gusto, Chilwell etc etc. That would be a money move and I reckon he actually has more sense (he said naively)

I'll be honest, I know very little about anyone in the Bournemouth squad. I don't think I've ever watched a game of theirs except when they've played us. I assume Brooks is great based on the comments so I'm very happy but my opinion of him is really based on what others have said.

He just became the best player in our squad the second the ink was dry. Absolute quality player. Bar his recovery he's even too good for Bournemouth.

I’ve not been watching as long as you but Virgil is quite comfortably the best player I’ve seen play for Saints, even including Tiss. He was the one player we’ve had since the mid eighties who was genuinely, unquestionably world class and could play for any club in the world. When he eventually did leave it was for a world record fee and he instantly turned Liverpool into basically the worlds best team for a couple of years.

Tiss was phenomenal for us but he wasn’t quite THAT good.

Kind of the same line of thought but in my lifetime, which goes back a ways, I'd put Antti Niemi in that category but I don't wanna put one over the other. Le Tiss, VVD, Niemi. Whether their impact was obvious or more subtle, and whatever their personal opinions are, these are the 3 for me and i'd invite them over for tea anytime they liked. But if they started eating with the wrong utensil I should say OI!.......

Leroy Whale was another one - went to Bitterne Park school and was highly regarded for a while.  Was a bit of a Billy big bollox at school but then that was understandable at the time.

One of the best finishers I have ever seen, Leroy. Saw a fair bit of him in non-league (he played for a team managed by my old man)

Anyone else think it was great that Charlie had the self-confidence and audacity to try something different with his penalty kick today? I suspect he'd have gone for something more orthodox had the game been closer, but given we were coasting to victory there was nothing to lose IMO. Always good to see a bit of individuality and flair.  (Of course, I'd have been livid if he'd tried it if the result had been more in the balance!).

Yes. Shame about the execution but he fooled the keeper. No different to sending the keeper the wrong way and sticking it past the opposite post but it was a shite pen that just happened to be a Panenka.

  13. I was there and we deserved to win that game. The off field antics were superb! (as was Prague)

Also went there to watch Denmark - Italy a year or so after but I'd learnt my lesson and took my opera glasses. Looks good on TV but I think it's a shite stadium and defo needs a few extra bogs.
