  1. Well thanks to the author as well of course. And thanks to Sotonjoe for filling me in on the posting history of the video
  2. Blimey, I can't believe how emotional I got watching that (even with the choice of music which wouldn't usually be to my taste at all). Must be a reaction to the pain of the last few years - and the angst of the administration period when I lost a few nights' sleep wondering whether we'd still exist or not. The new era comes with so much promise - long may it continue. Thanks a lot for posting.
  3. Thanks, not sure why I didn't think of that myself last night.
  4. There's a link in the blog itself - click on the heading for the goal - then enjoy
  5. I didn't see this posted elsewhere (apologies if I've missed it) but today's Grauniad sport blog has an article entitled 'Great Team Goals' which features the Channon one v Liverpool in 1982 at number 3. A nice little write-up too so well worth a look - as the goal always is of course: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2009/jul/17/joy-of-six-great-team-goals?commentpage=2 Uncanny that someone posted a link to that goal on here only a couple of days back - and great to see it get some recognition
  6. Fair enough though I was actually being a tad ironic using that description for Mr G...which perhaps partially exonerates me But yes it was a welcome rarity indeed
  7. I stand corrected on the spelling but it was definitely him who presented that programme. I should have added that the Matt finish bit was all in the service of naming the great man - Le Tiss that is, not Gubba - as MOTD's 'Man of the Year'.
  8. You're more or less spot on with that quote but it was actually the legendary Tony Gubber who presented the show (Des must have been on his Christmas hols).
  9. Someone I know said they saw Strachan in town yesterday but at the time I didn't think that meant anything - hasn't he still got his house nearby?
  10. Can you believe it, the missus wasn't interested in me staging a fondue party. She was happy with a box of Swiss chocolates though.
