  1. I've just evened up the vote by voting no. But I did it purely because I'm really on the fence with this one. On one hand, what he did was simply stupid, but on the other hand he clearly is a very talented coach.  Be in no doubt, if we do decide to pull the trigger he will not be out of work for too long. I think he'll be in quite high demand, even in this country, bannings aside, it's a tough call. Keep, at least for the short term, and then perhaps reassess if it looks to be going pear shaped.

Just out of curiosity- what does anyone think might happen next season if a club was stupid enough to be found guilty of spying within the 72 hours on 3 separate occasions during the normal season?
Points deduction and what other sanction?

What punishment would equal ours or would the fact that the reward for cheating would be so much less, as a play off leg is not involved, result in no other sanction at all?

Just trying to see what the EFL might think is equitable treatment

Me again - same source says four clubs testified against Saints....

So why did none of those four clubs formally report us to the EFL, at the time of the offence?

Ok, let's summarise. Spying on another team's training is allowed as long as it's 72 hours or more before a match. An intern did it less than 72 hours before the match.

    That's f*cking it.

It's like going 5 mph over the speed limit, not driving the wrong way on the motorway or driving blind drunk, FFS.

We all agree expulsion is ludicrous, but some here are saying we can expect a fine and points deduction.

I say fuck a points deduction, that could cost us dearly down the road.

The maximum punishment should be a modest fine and slap on the wrist. Saints should appeal/sue if it's anything more, including any point(s) deduction.

I concur.  Context is absolutely key in all of this.  A very junior member of staff has erred, for whatever reason. The advantage gained, (if any) is likely to be miniscule and had no real effect on either game.

Punishment should be forthcoming, but commensurate with 'the facts of what actually happened' and not the wishes of the aggrieved.

Bottom line is rules are rules and Saints knowingly broke them to try to get an unfair advantage in a crucial tie.

Overnight has turned the club into the most disliked in the country.

I doubt it will happen but if the punishment is expulsion from the final, no one can complain.

We cocked up ffs, hands up, but the punishment has to be commensurate to the crime.  An independent commission must not be lead by what a baying mob supposedly sees, they must consider only the evidence.

  6. Quite ironic that on Saturday the FA Cup final will take place with one of the teams still facing in excess of 100 charges, they are probably favourites to win the trophy, yet no mainstream media wants to call cheat on that.  Meanwhile the team that they beat in the semi final, accepted it gracefully, without complaint, and moved on.

    Funny old game.

People should stay well clear of the pitch if we win.

Noddy behaviour going on after a playoff semi, can’t really afford another EFL charge.

They should, but unfortunately I don't think they will, if we win.  And once one person sets foot on the pitch, sadly other melts will follow, again bringing the club into disrepute.  By all means support the team to the max, but show some class at the end no matter what the result.

Was it a case of Peretz misjudgement? I thought he just slipped.

he also made some incredible saves - but that is par for the course.

Yeah I've just watched the highlights back again, I was high in block Q and thought I had a good view of it, but obviously I didn't see it clearly enough.  He came and just slipped under it, without the slip, he probably gets something on it.

He just slipped today though. He was clearly favourite to get the ball and I have no issue with him coming for it.

You only needed to listen to our fans reaction to their goal to know that absolutely nobody blamed him for it.

  10. Just got back, decent game today.  We started fast, got an early goal but then sat on the lead a bit, and I thought we looked a little tired coming up to half time. Came out second half though, got another early one that settled the nerves, and we were comfortable until Peretz made the blunder.  You could see that he wasn't gonna make it, he came, hesitated, came again, missed, and that was an easy goal for them.  After his saves in the first half, nobody was having a bad word to say, in fact if you were watching, we responded as loud as we'd been all day with OWTS.  The subs were good, stabilized us and got us over the line,  in all good turn out for the last league game, on to the playoffs.

Is anyone still waiting for their tickets to arrive ?

Yes I am. Very late sending these out.

I’ve phoned ticket office - tickets were apparently posted last week. Been advised that if not received by /on Friday to phone again on Friday and will be put on a list to pick up duplicate tickets from Preston ticket office on Saturday.
Anyone experienced this before? I’d hate to travel all that way and there be any problem.

I wouldn't worry, exactly the same happened to 'me' for the Sheffield Wednesday game.  Got to the ground and there was a guy with basically a good 80 to 100 envelopes containing duplicate tickets that obviously hadn't made it in the post to many different addressees.  So there was no problem in the end.

  12. We did well to stay in the game and not lose it at the end.  They completely bossed the last ten minutes, we seemed to lose all control after going in front.  Not sure the subs helped, Larins hold up play was missed when Stewart came on and offered nothing.  Jander was very good again, but I think the others suffered badly from the Wembley hangover.  Thought Leo was average tonight, he needs to be stronger in the physical challenge and really try and stay on his feet, far too many times tonight he went over and got nothing.

Looking at the big picture though, it ain't the end of the world.  After the horrendous start to the season we'd all of ripped your arm off to get to the playoffs, and that we've done, so let's see where that takes us.
