But literally every commentator knew Russ ball wouldn't work at this level they all said it
-
Yes but why? Too scared to make the difficult decisions? Martin cheap option? Everyone knew he wouldn't cut it at this level they have been preparing for a championship push again nothing more and seem content with that
-
Call me reactionary but get someone new in now while there's time, someone more attack minded, don't care about attractive football, someone who gives us a chance of scraping survival. The club knew Martin was going to be a disaster at this level and that's exactly how it's turnt out!
-
United haven't even had to be that decent as we self implode every bloody time! say what you want about looking a bit better, we aren't staying in this league that's for sure!
-
It literally is this every game! it's clear neither the team or the manager is good enough at this level
-
Game over ffs
-
So much for Martin saying we are going to eliminate defensive errors!
-
Such a week goal to concede didn't even need a powerful header
-
We just aren't clinical and have paid the price!
-
Pathetic defence from us
-
As soon as he lined up I said to myself he's going to miss looked nervous as hell
-
Id have let dibling take it personally
-
Useless from archer absolutely pathetic
-
For another team next season 😭
-
All managers have their favourites unfortunately our managers favourites are the worst players!
-
All we are missing is a decent striker (and top class defender)
-
Much more positive from saints but how many times have we seen this only to concede against the run of play, need to make the dominance count for once!
-
Does anyone know the logic of why AA looks so bad at premier league level but decent at championship? Is it Just a case that the players in the championship are a lot slower in general and slower to react and he has more time on the ball? He seems confident at that level but like a rabbit in the headlights against better opposition
-
True, if we can't get a result against Ipswich then things will be looking worrying. I feel we could get a result against United but only if we ditch tippy tappy and get more aggressive and direct and Go for them from the first kick, all things Martin is adverse to

The next three games will decide RMs future in my opinion. All three games are tough and I can easily see us finishing the month with no points on the board. How many points would you predict? I can't see us beating any of these sides at the moment so a couple of draws would be progress Man united at home Ipswich at home Bournemouth away
-
To sum things up the premier league is difficult enough as it is at the best of times. Why on earth would you adopt a style that makes it even more difficult??? When all is said and done it's about putting the ball in the back of the net I'd much rather see more of that than constantly recycling the ball in extremely dangerous places! And what for? Just to show that we can? (Or can't in our case?) We have a manager that values meaningless statistics over actually winning games as long as we were "brave" that's all that matters to him. He calls it brave most people call it being the architect of your own downfall
-
We simply have to take action if there's no points on the board at the end of this month ordinarily no one would be calling for a managers head this soon... But our situation is different as Martin has publicly said he is not going to change anything and would rather loose games with his style than change. Not sure the club will though as he's signed a new contract and he's been very transparent with the style he plays from the very beginning the club knew exactly what they were getting with him, someone that had a chance of getting promotion from the championship but wouldn't be good enough for the premier league.
-
You are right but we failed to act soon enough last time we appointed a disaster, if he can't get any points on the board by the end of September the club must find the strength to get rid... I'm not sure they will as it looks like they aren't too bothered about premier league footbal
