  1. I really dont know who is better out of Tadic or Lallana, they both have good a bad parts of the game. Im also not going to pretend Lallana was crap, he wasn't, he was a very good player for us.

What I will say is that we dont miss him, partly due to the set up, partly due to how good tadic is. He is a great signing, and thats what really matters.

This. I think this sums it up perfectly.

  2. Sides he was poor against?

Hopefully Mané works out and Long becomes a decent option off the bench.

    This.

He was distinctly 'headless chickeny' (as he has been his entire career) vs West Ham and Millwall. The moment he went off and Gaston came on we looked heaps better. I guess we didn't need that 12mil :S

  3. It was an absolutely dog awful signing, and up there with one of the worst in the Prem. Gaston would have done the same job and he was already here. Cue the "he doesn't work as hard" argument. But that doesn't wash with me as I'd take an effective 20min spell from Gaston vs a useless 60 min spell (with a 12mil fee) any day. And that point was eloquently underlined at West Ham on Saturday. And if you don't want to use Gaston as an example take any of a number of lower league players we could have taken a punt on.

Shane Long is gash pure and simple.

  4. The only disappointment for me is signing Long for £12m. However you try and dress it up with regards to Gaston's loan fee, £12m is double what he is worth and it stinks of a panic buy a bit to me.

Overall though, very positive. I think overall our squad is stronger and we've made a profit of about £30m to balance the books and pay for the developments at Staplewood. I posted this in the locked thread, so I'll share it here again.

    Tadic replaces Lallana

    Pelle replaces Lambert

    Mane replaces Gaston

    Alderweirald replaces Jos

    Gardos replaces Lovren

    Bertrand replaces Shaw

    Long replaces Osvaldo

    Forster in

    Chambers out

That's a pretty decent window IMO.

This mirrors my feeling. Great signings in Tadic and Alderweireld, retaining Boruc as well as getting in Forster was also a bonus otherwise I didn't see the point.

Think people are raving about Bertrand to early because all I see is a bit of a headless chicken still and Shane Long is a massive waste of space.

Jury out on Man and Pelle a bit.

  5. Currently he's a "not-getting-into lower mid-table Prem side" level player, so I'm not sure what that's based on? If we continue to perform around 15th-ish I'm sure he'll get the chance to prove why he should be starting every match - which to be fair to him he pretty much did when given the opportunity last season.

It is symptomatic of the kind of "he runs around therefore he is amazing" thought process I see on here a lot, though.

Bertrand and Long will end up looking like superstars then, which has already started to happen with Bertrand.

  6. OMG are we aiming to be mediocre ?

Exactly my feeling when we signed Long... Vardy would have been the icing on the cake. Sure the money hasn't gone into the Swiss coffers as some suspected but it's hardly been spent wisely either.

  7. Welcome Shane! I'll be as much of a **** as everyone else in the rumours and build up, but once signed you have my full support!

Can't doubt his energy and workrate, antithesis of Osvaldo and I have a feeling he'll beat his goal tally! In fact, I bet Long scores more for us than Osvaldo does for Inter this season.

Maybe just. Another super underwhelming signing.

    Welcome aboard I guess.

  8. Depressing state of affairs:

GK - Forster - Yeah fair enough signing

    DF - Bertrand - Terrible

SK - Someone who will be make weight for Osvaldo and so far the names being touted are average at best

Great so we are working to build a bloated squad of loanees and average players. That's a nice little earner banked by the board though so they'll be happy. 90mil in c. 20mil out.

  9. Living in a BH postcode I can tell you their supporters are in the main twts. They are wannebe skates who give it scummer this and scummer that nonsense. It never used to be like this (I've been in Poole 20 years) its really only since twitchy became a skate. They hero worship twitchy , which is another reason to hate them. Every Boscombe fan I've ever known any length of time is always Liverpool & Boscombe or Chelsea & Boscombe. There ain't many who are Boscombe through and through. Our game at SMS I saw loads of lads I know out side the encore , and most of them supported other clubs. That's the way it is down here.

Not only are they wannabe skates, but they are following their business model. They are throwing serious money around in wages and spending well above their level. Last time they did this well ,they were throwing massive wages around under twitchy and it ended in tears and its going to be the same this time.

Eddie Howe has done a decent job, but he's a bitter skate. He showed no class when we done them a couple of years back . There are some in the train i get to saints who'd like to see him replace MP if he left, but im not too sure. Remember he bottled it at Burnley and ran home to mummy. It would be funny laughing at some of the Mini Me Skates if he came to us, but im not so sure id want him.

If people had to hear the bitterness against us I hear, you wouldn't want them promoted. Most of them respect skates and hate us.

This. This is exactly what most of them are like. I am from Poole initially and they are, in the main, a sad bunch of muppets who don't much like us. Which seems odd given that we gave them a hand when they were going down the pan.

Still if they come up it would be beautiful doing them twice in one season...You know if we get a striker that is.

  10. Personally I dont really think the parking charge was a huge issue but its hard not to agree that there is a much more positive vibe around the place then there was. Not sure NC was the 'monster' he was made out to be but he was certainly ruthless in his quest for efficiency and ambitious towards his 'goals'

I judge ny club on their ability to win football matches first and foremost. Of course the other pr stuff has an effect but realistically its a sports club so with our recent successes I was perfectly happy to accept certain areas of PR slipping. Hopefully KL will be able to continue the success that NC provided us but only time will tell, certainly if she manages to progress and adds a much happier corperate image then everyone is a winner and she will have achieved more than even NC managed in his limited time here.

All in all I will wait and see, something still doesnt seem quite right to me but thats personal opinion more then knowing anything. Summer will tell us a lot about whether we have 'progressed or regressed' in NC's abscence and frankly Benali walking around and an hours free parking isnt going to convince me we have moved forward without similar levels of investment as before.

    Nail. Head.

All this is absolutely spot on. It mirrors my thoughts exactly and I too have this underlying feeling that, although it's not being done in malice, that something under the surface is not quite right. As in I just feel that tight purse strings and mediocrity beckons for the foreseeable future. I hope I am wrong.
