  1. Holy sh!t, is that your main team or your occasional one?

Seeing as it was getting to the end of the season I sold my main PL squad to buy our in-forms. Previously I had this one (4-2-3-1):

    Lloris

    Sagna Vidic Kompany Cole

    Gerrard Tiote

    Silva Suarez Mata

    Van Persie

Also a Russian League side (4-2-3-1):

    Akinfeev (IF)

    Anyukov Alves Bocchetti Criscito

    Witsel (IF) Denisov

    Boussoufa Doumbia Honda

    Eto'o

How did you make all your money then ?

Mostly via pre-order/EA season ticket bonus packs - got ridiculously lucky a few times!

  2. We're currently awaiting completion on the purchase of a 2 bedroom property in Hedge End as first time buyers. Dealt at £157k which is a few grand lower than others in proximity have been going for but still achievable. Happy with everything we've seen and heard about the area and not too much bother to get into Southampton.

Apart from a brief spell in Southsea while my girlfriend finished her degree over there, I've lived in central Southampton since I was a student and have just about had my fill now. Wanted to remain close in order to reap the benefits but it surprised me how little resistance I mustered when the lady suggested moving to the 'burbs.

I work in Fair Oak and it's dead as can be, albeit pleasant enough. House prices seem inflated there however, same with the likes of Bishopstoke. Obviously there are still plenty of nice places in Southampton so it doesn't have to be outskirts. We preferred to pick areas and hunt from there - otherwise it became tempting to compromise in order to get something bigger that was in a less than ideal location. With a budget of 180k I'd say you'll be fine as it seems to be above the tipping point for a well-located house in decent nick.

  3. I won Div 1 with my Saints only team but I always play Mayuka (best player in the game IMO) and J Rod as a front 2. Although I have J Rod IF I went back to the NIF one who has 60 something goals in 70 something games for me and is much better again IMO! Much prefer Shaw at LB and the 2 IF CB's are real rocks.

Really p's off those with superstar premier league teams when you beat them with this team!

Yeah, after taking that screenshot I swapped Luke in. Have been using Mayuka as super-sub as I can't get over Lambert's strength on the ball. Loving the rage - won 5-2 against a star-filled Div 1 team the other night :D

  4. Ripping it up on Ultimate Team with our squad/in-form players at the moment:

Normally swap Fox out for Shaw mind you as Luke has better defending stats (that figures).

  5. so my opinion that we wont finish in the top 10 and it's highly likely we wont, make me a WUM does it.:lol::lol:

Missed the point completely. Clearly that's a valid opinion - what went OTT was your repeated need to rip shreds from anybody that dared suggest 10th or above was achievable. At the time you were banging on about it we had a roughly equal chance of achieving a top half finish as relegation. Even now it wouldn't take a ridiculous set of results for us to settle thereabouts.

For my money it's the people that bang on about the same thing in every thread on here that make legitimate points of discussion a chore. On which note I'll leave it there ;)

  6. Please explain.

Number 4 in the WUM category comes to mind. Just thought it was interesting that you jumped straight to discredit the thread's worth, that's all.

Fact of the matter is that the truth rarely exists at either extreme and tends to settle somewhere in the middle. Similar to our likely finishing position actually.

  7. Alex Goring Crook ‏@alex_crook 15m

Mauricio Pochettino has told us this morning he will quit #saintsfc if Nicola Cortese retires as chairman

    Alex Goring Crook ‏@alex_crook 14m

Pochettino said: "I would not continue if Nicola Cortese was not here. It would not make any sense if I was at this club and he wasn’t."

Comes across as more posturing to me. Sounds like Cortese is putting forward a business proposal for the next couple of months in order to prove his worth and has used MP as his mouthpiece. Even so it's a solid plan in many respects, especially if you're the sort that gets het up about completing transfer business in the final month of the window. Fingers crossed there'll be the opportunity to implement it with our current personnel.

I'm also quite relieved about the news regarding Lambert. If he's been struggling with an injury that's a little more comforting than performances simply tailing off. Doesn't say a lot for our alternate striking options mind.

  8. I think the Liverpool away/third ones are the only ugly 90s styles really, you didn't get many "just plain with coloured trim and a subtle weave" styles in the 90s, there aren't many loud bold prints there (yet?).

Not just the overall style, a lot of the collars for example are a throwback to a period of kits that I'd rather forget.

  9. While it would be remiss to dismiss this out of hand, there's too many ifs, buts and maybes to leap straight to the worst case scenario. If we're going to put stock into the report, what's a fair headline? Something along the lines of Nicola Cortese Seeks Guarantees Over Future, surely.

If he receives those reassurances it becomes inconsequential for the near future. There really is a whole spectrum of possibilities between the club being flogged to a dodgy owner and continuing on its current path. Understandable to be a little jumpy, but it's hardly DEFCON 1.

  10. Thats what really annoys me about some saints fans who feel the need to slag others off when its issues that have absoulutley nothing to do with them.

Bit different when people half-leave, blocking both the steps and the view of others though, surely?

  11. You seem confused Wes. Has it ever crossed your mind that some people hold political beliefs, but don't get into bed with a political party? I am a liberal - (lower case 'l'), this means I believe in liberal values, and has nothing to do with any political party that exists or has existed. Who I vote for depends upon which party offers the closest package to my personal values. I actually feel the Green party are closer to my values than the Lib Dems. However, as the Greens don't stand in my seat, you are generally right, I have pretty straight choice of Lib Dem or abstention at the moment.

I'm currently in exactly the same position.

  12. Political correctness has no place anywhere. It's a restriction on free speech which has now got out of hand!

In your mind perhaps, certainly not the real world. But fine, be my guest - launch into others using whichever prejudices you can muster or by picking upon whatever's different about them.

  13. We missed Guly defensively after his substitution, he was doing a job and doing it well. As others have said, he doesn't offer an awful lot going forwards but on the day neither did any of our lot really.
