The thing that stood out yesterday was that handballs are now a binary thing. There used to be a bit of nuance (ball to hand etc) but now if the attacking team touch the ball with a hand, it's disallowed, the defending team do it and it's a penalty. Not to say it's right or wrong, but it's different from the way the game has always been played. So if this is here to stay then it should be been communicated to avoid these surprises. The American ref lady on TV last night was saying that proximity is not longer a factor in handball decisions. Imo that's a bit shit, but if that's the rule and it's enforced consistently then they'll even out over the season or something.

There are a few similarities between the England situation and Saints at the end of the season. We looked dead and buried going into the league game with Leeds. Martin switched it up to a back three, we won the game and went into the playoffs with renewed confidence and won. Tomorrow nights England game is that Leeds moment.
