i think the present lib /tory partys together are the first majority government with over 50% of the public vote since i,ve been born in my lifetime but i suppose your happy when government of the past with a massive majority with only 38% of the vote which over ruled the remaining 62% ish in the country. its not right and you know it.

i think your wasting your time trying to convert the die hard bonehead right party loyalists who would vote for a bag of potatoes if it had a tory/bnp tag in elections.they have no interest of making the system slightly fairer.

good post and someone like me who is independent of sticking with the same party at every election believes av is a small stepping stone to pr and is more interested in the politics being more representative and open, than having our lazy mps keep their fptp so they form government be elected on small percentage of the electorate normaly 34 to 39% of the voteing public.

i agree but i think with pr we might see people who have different views like the greens who might vote for what they believe in ,rather than staying at home believing their vote will be wasted under the current fptp or voting for a candidate just to stop the other lot getting in .

if he has got 51% has happens under the present system he has won, i suggest you read your av leaflet has it seems to me you do not understand how av works.

one man one vote is pr bonehead ,we have a first past the post voting system meaning alot of mps get elected with only 34 to 37% of the vote even though a majority in that seat did not want the winning mp in that seat.

i agree but the present voteing system is worse and its got to be a big improvement on that unlike now areas where alot mps of all parys get elected with 34 % of the votes at present and they would need to widen the fanbase of electors.

sorry the present system is worse,i live in a solid labour area so its a waste of time for me voteing for anyone else even thought he majority voted against the sitting mp. its just going to lead to more people not bother voteing if their vote is just going to be wasted.
