I would point out to all those who think it’s all anybody can talk about on social media, like me you probably click on articles and opinion pieces about it. Because of this engagement, the platforms push more pieces about it to keep you engaged. It gives the impression it’s all anybody can talk about.

I’m actually quite bored of this now. I think the only sources I trust on this issue are Blackmore, Alfie House, the Club and any EFL Statement. Anything beyond that is pure BS designed to try and influence the commission (which I doubt will work as they’re lawyers and not a jury of common people).

The only way I can see it is if they moved the play off final to the start of next season (after the World Cup) and before the PL started. But then you’d have teams entering the transfer window not knowing what league they would be in and subsequent income.

That’s really useful context. Genuinely though, it seems to me completely unacceptable for a professional football team, which was once in the PL and may well again, to train in such an open location where anyone could be so close to the action with no security. Given the nutters nowadays, it seems a massive oversight and a threat to their players.

I genuinely think a lot of this hype is because there’s sod all other football on right now. Relegation is basically sorted from the PL and the title is as well. By the World Cup this will all be forgotten. That said, I might not wear a Southampton top around Middlesbrough in the future. Though I’d rather go to Tehran than Middlesbrough.

I’d love to know what percentage of Middlesbrough fans are believing this stuff.

Genuine question. If tickets go on sale and Southampton fans buy them, can they be declared null and void? If the game still goes ahead, surely tickets can’t be withdrawn after purchased?

I can’t see how there would be time to fit in any more games before the World Cup starts. You couldn’t get another date at Wembley to play the final. If we were going to get kicked out of the play offs, it would have happened before the first leg imo and Boro would have got a bye.
