  1. It's a false economy. Think about it. I could afford to be a s/t holder when a teenager, but when I became a student (in the pre-Wilde days) there was no student ticket pricing, so I was supposed to be able to make a jump of several hundred pounds. Guess what? I couldn't afford it, and although I've been back to St Mary's a number of times since I haven't bought a season ticket, and the club has lost a lot of income. Surely the sensible debate is about supporting your customers as they move along the income threshold, to enable them to continue to be season ticket holders. It's a silly move by the club, short-sighted and will lose them income. This shouldn't be a debate about how bad students are, but an economic one.
  2. I'd go but I hate the atmosphere at SMS nowadays. Perhaps it's the responsibility of RL that fans have become some negative and fatalistic, I don't know. I used to be a ST-holder, and travel 200 miles each match to watch. But I've now been to see two matches in two years. I think the real legacy of the infighting at board level over the past few years has been the creation of an increasing number of negative, bitter, angry, aggressive fans who boo their own players, many of whom are youngsters. I don't know if I blame these fans. But this isn't going to change overnight, and so I'm not going to any matches in the near future.
