It's a false economy. Think about it. I could afford to be a s/t holder when a teenager, but when I became a student (in the pre-Wilde days) there was no student ticket pricing, so I was supposed to be able to make a jump of several hundred pounds. Guess what? I couldn't afford it, and although I've been back to St Mary's a number of times since I haven't bought a season ticket, and the club has lost a lot of income.
Surely the sensible debate is about supporting your customers as they move along the income threshold, to enable them to continue to be season ticket holders.
It's a silly move by the club, short-sighted and will lose them income. This shouldn't be a debate about how bad students are, but an economic one.
