  1. I chose the N86 over the N97 and I love it so far, much better than my N95.

It also piѕѕes over the Samsung Omnia that I had, as touchscreen phones are ѕhit!!

That's good to know; my N95 is ancient now but I just don't fancy anything else that's out there - I wanted to like the N97 but it just didn't do it for me. N86 looks tempting - what's the camera like?

  2. I admire him for his right mental attitude. None of this spending of several millions and hoping to perhaps reach the play-offs that was Burley's trademark. I always believe that unless you set out to win, you will fail.

+5000; this was my biggest beef with Burley and set alarm bells ringing in my mind probably even before the likes of Alpine etc.

  3. I couldn't imagine supporting anyone other than Saints; I would probably have given up on football. Might possibly have taken in the occasional Aldershot game with my mate from Whitehill (also Saints) but certainly wouldn't have felt any affinity with them.

  4. Excited too - tempered by the nagging doubt in the back of mind that this time last season I was genuinely confident of our prospects too, d'oh!!

Totally different situation now though; I really think the worst is behind us and we're starting the long climb back to the PL [-o

  5. Yes he looked a bit unfit - isn't that what these games are for? I thought his distribution was quite good and he read things quite well. I think that he needs to be given a proper chance to prove his worth. We need a right back and he would certainly be an improvement on the out of position right back that played most of last season. IMO of course.

+1, think he would be a worthwhile signing for us

  6. The point is did you really expect after what has been happening lately, that we were gonna go out there and play brilliant football. I think anyone that thought we were going to give Ajax a run for their money must be deluded. We were never gonna beat them. I thought that most fans had gone there today to, yes to support our team, but also to show our new owner that we, as fans, were worth him buying our club. The attendance was not that bad tbh, but after being asked to stay in our seats for the presentation I couldn't believe that people were just getting up and going - in their droves.

I can understand that in a league game, when the team are playing like they just don't care, people leaving. Never done it myself, but can understand it. This wasn't a league game where every point counted, it was a friendly. Just don't think it gave our new owner a very good impression. Simples!

100% agree with that; what SHE said, sorry!!! #-o

  7. I went today and, like a lot of fans, didn't expect to win or even draw today. I just knew that we would lose. The score wasn't as bad as I expected to be honest. I couldn't believe how many fans left early or just before the final whistle. God knows what our new owner must of thought of us. It was embarrassing and to me, bordered on rudeness. It was supposed to be the fans that sold the club to him in the first place. Goodness knows what he must have been thinking.

    What he said

  8. Redecorate the concources, particularly at the Northam and Chapel ends. No more bare breeze blocks. We should be able to find someone with talent who can paint lifesize images of players from the past on the walls - perhaps in that simplistic, posterised style. I remember one of the big football websites did T-shirts in that style. Just a three or four colour job ought to do... Imagine Matty's last goal at the Dell or Bobby Stokes wheeling away imortalised on the walls. Keegan, Channon, Ball, etc. etc.

Also I reckon they should suspend stuff from the beams and ceiling space over the concourse. I'd say scarves and flags but that's a fire hazard so we'd have to make do with replicas made out of flame-retardant material.

You can imagine the atmosphere down on the concourse for an evening match in winter, 1-0 up at half-time on a promotion push, beer flowing, fans singing "Oh When the Saints" slow and loud and soulful, with the reminders of 100+ years of saintliness all around... Sends a little shiver down my spine :-)

That is a great idea TBF! :)

  9. Have no doubt Adams has applied for the job. He said in the past he'd like to manage us, he knows the area, we're a big club with a bit of money for league 1 but low expectation really, so it's a great job for whoever gets it.

Whether the owners rate Adams is something we don't know. I think an appointment will come out of the blue at some point in the next 48 hours, and as usual, it won't be who we think.

I really hope that DOESN'T mean Adams!!!

  10. Keegan would be my first heart choice for the excitement it would create, that he hasn't managed us before, and as my childhood hero. WGS would also be a choice from the heart more than the head as I still think it's unlikely he'd come, along with the "Never go back" factor - but I'd be over the moon with either, or Hoddle for that matter.

As for what the head says... I really have no idea!

BTW - what have I missed about Klinsmann? Why are some people slating him?

  11. Bit of a shame in so much as Wotte could have been an excellent Academy manager/executive... I'd hate to lose his experience...

I've got a dream list of Strachan or Keegan

and a realistic list of Coppel or Hoddle

    I Like your thinking!

    Strachan/Keegan - I will cream myself!!

    Coppell/Hoddle - I will almost cream myself!!

    :D

  12. Thanks MW - unfortunately loyalty has cost the club a lot in the past - Messrs Grey and Wigley spring to mind - so it's 'not personal' as our Michael Corleone lookalike CE might say. Ignore the spiteful, nasty comments above - there can be nothing lower than kicking someone who has just lost their livelihood - just take note that the vast majority of fans respect the dignity and effort that you have shown. Good luck for the future.

What he said. Sorry Mark, you weren't the right man for the job but thanks for sticking around and trying your best (unlike at least a couple of managers in our recent past); good luck for the future.

  13. Keegan would be brilliant, and we'd power through League one with him at the helm.

The criticisms of him are fair enough were we a mid table Prem team looking to finish sixth.

But we are a L1 team looking to make the play offs against Yeovil, Oldham and Swindon.

Keegan could deliver that stood on his head, pack the stadium (for L1), play some good football and keep our profile sky-high in the national football consciousness.

    Keegan would be fan-bloody-tastic.

  14. Just want to add that I'm already feeling VERY optimistic about the new season and that even promotion isn't out of the equation!

Then again I thought we were going to make the play-offs last season!:(

  15. he is my new favourite player...

I had my doubts when he first signed but lasy season he was a star

easily the best keeper in league 1...by a long long way

+1. I too wasn't his biggest fan in his first season and tbf he did have quite a number of ropey games - but I would blame that more on Burley for not dropping him and giving Bart a go earlier when he was on form. But easily our best player for probably the last two seasons, not just last. Well done Kelvin - you've certainly won me over, and especially for your loyalty. Fair play to you sir :)

  16. Yep, that was a fantastic match.

I don't believe nobody has mentioned the 6-3 drubbing of ManUre yet. Undoubtedly one of my best afternoons EVER, let alone one of my best at the Dell!

And another match that springs to mind (I'm sure it was an evening game) was the 8-2 win over Coventry. I seem to remember that both Steve Moran and Danny Wallace (or was it Rod?) scored a hatrick in that match.

Was going to mention the 6-3 but TBH that was a surreal afternoon for me (and my ManUre-supporting boss who I brought with me - happy days:)). I think my favourite match was the one vs Boro a couple of matches before - Ravanelli, Juninho et al and yet we tonked them 4-0 (first league win of the season too?) including Tiss scoring from a corner. Didn't Neil Moss save Rava's penalty too (or did he miss it?)?

  17. I can't see him doing any better in L1 than the CCC for 3 reasons.

    1. They still have the offside rule in L1.

    2. They still have goalkeepers in L1, so finishing a 1 on 1 is just as difficult.

    3. They still have gravity in L1, so falling over for no apparent reason is just as likely.

I really hope both he and Euell leave now they're out of contract. Useless the pair of them.

    (and 100% agreed)

  18. I'm not sure how anyone's reading this as a bad thing. We're in admin folks, we haven't got an owner. Our coaching staff are out of contract. Wotte has agreed to stay on and keep coaching the squad in preparation for the new season, regardless of whether we get bought and any new buyers choose to retain his services. Good man. Would everyone prefer we just gave up?

What he said; he certainly wouldn't be my first choice manager but at this moment in time ANY form of continuity has got to be a good thing. Fair play to him.
