Hearing from a mate at the club shop that NC is planning to launch a limited edition gold Saints shirt with CORTESE printed on the back to go on sale from next month. Also heard that he had to be talked out of allocating himself a squad number in the match day programme for Sunday. Apparently he's acting more crazy than usual in the build up to this game as he really wants to stick on on Pardew. Adkins under huge pressure to win. Don't shoot the messenger, just passing on what I've heard.

They spent the most amount of money in Europe over the summer having come from a position where they already had a squad capable of winning two cups. Relatively, what we spent to give ourselves a chance to compete in the prem with a squad of players developed from League One is a fraction of their spending yet they still lost at home to Wigan amongst other poor results. I don't believe Chelsea were right to sack him as, as you say, they still have much to aim for this season but to suggest that RDM would be better than Adkins for us on the basis of the champs league win and FA Cup win is the issue people are taking. Give Adkins a squad worth about 250M in a few one off games and see what he could achieve.

That was 6 months ago. Over the same time period in which you've decided Adkins is not good enough, RDM's Chelsea have let in a bucket load of goals with two centre halves who cost well over 20M. I'm not surprised that you choose to excuse RDM by focusing on his past exploits but decide that the same logic can't be applied to Adkins where we had the 2nd best defence in the league last year. It's your niche that you've developed
